The needle size will always have a “/“ in it, it separates the European size from the American size. I. E. 110/18, 100/16, 90/14, etc. hope this helps. Thanks for watching our videos, and for the question, too!

I have Shmetz needles. I can not figure out what numbers are the size of the needle. Even though I have a needle threader it never works and I have to do it manualy with a needle threader. What a pain. Thank you for the information. the best to you.

@ Lynda…I use Schmitz 90/14 universal for dressmaking, quilting, and bag making. I use polyester all purpose tread. Needle threader took practice!

get a magnifying glass and very slowly activate the threader part way. I found that when I did this I could see that the hook of the threader somehow became offset from the eye of the needle. I was actually able to use a stiletto to verrrry carefully adjust the hook from side to side to realign the hook to the eye again. (then my husband scoured the web and ordered me two more needle threading assemblies.)
