This guy is the most sympathetic guy I’ve seen on this show so far. He was honest I believe he actually felt the drone was spying on him or messing with him. Yeah he shouldn’t have shot at it but I don’t want him to get more than a slap on the wrist. How do you all feel?
@thedave1771

@@alecd.5846 To me, this is a perfect example of why everyone being armed is a bad idea. When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail, and you never even consider whether there’s a better way to drive that screw in. I’m sympathetic, genuinely, and I wouldn’t want to see him catch a felony over it. I also respect him for being honest and upfront, that should go in his favour, I think it shows he wasn’t being malicious. He shouldn’t have started shooting, but I also get that he felt threatened (even I don’t think he was actually threatened in any meaningful way, in the moment I expect I’d have felt much more threatened than I do sitting behind a keyboard from a country that has more meaningful privacy laws).

I'm sorry but considering that jaywalking is illegal some guy taking his gun and shooting random arcs of bullets into the sky is not the least criminal. it shows an absolute lack of gun safety, lack of concern for nearby neighbors and distant random people, and a total self centeredness. and he even acts somewhat indignant about being arrested after spraying and praying at a drone he knew nothing about. he's probably pretty paranoid so it isn't like this isn't a pattern of behavior with him. in other words all signs point to this guy not being a low risk criminal. he just needs the opportunity he believes is antagonistic enough and he'll shoot at whatever he wants.
@doctordemento965

@@andrewbrennan94 From a legal standpoint... he has NO idea what that drone is or what it's doing on his property. It could have been THIEVES casing property or worse. You have a RIGHT TO PRIVACY GUARANTEED in our constitution. If they are found in violation... THEY are the ones who could be charged unless HE invited them onto his property. You do REALIZE that 500' above your property in a congested area is YOUR airspace and in non congested areas it can go up to 1000. This isn't as open and shut as it appears. Police officers are there for one reason... he discharged a firearm. They do NOT make the call on what happens after the fact. Lawyers, a jury and a judge will determine the circumstances and reason.

It does seem incredibly odd the way bonds work, hardened criminals with a long chain of felonies seem to get $1000 bond for extreme criminal activity on their 20th go around, while this guy who was honest to a fault, gets the book thrown at him for his first ever offence. If you're going to fly drones over peoples houses, it might be a good idea to post out a letter so people know why it is there.

Companies shouldn't be doing "test deliveries" over random people's houses. They absolutely need to change drone laws. Quick flyovers over someone else's property to get to where they are going, sure. But drones should NEVER be allowed to hover over someone else's properly low enough for it to see or do anything unless they have authorized it. Drones have been popular for long enough for the laws to catch up to it by now.

Without doing anything to notify the homeowner of what exactly is going on and that this is some sort of demonstration and business solicitation? Who tf thought that was an okay thing to do? It's widely known that the vast majority of people don't even want random people knocking on their doors trying to solicit their business so they thought this would somehow be better? You have a right to protect your property below and above ground (500ft) if you can hear a drone it's definitely below 500 ft especially if you think you can shoot at it and hit it. 500 ft is 1 2/3rd's of a football fields long. If it is a Walmart drone $100 at max how tf can 10k in damages be done not even the most expensive DJI drone is wroth half that. This gentleman has done nothing wrong. He can take the drone operator to civil court for trespass, invasion of privacy, and emotional damage that occurred during the arrest

It's was a delivery drone you goober. I hate drones too, but you can't be popping rounds off in a neighborhood. 😅

@ then the delivery company still violated his own air rights, and emotional rights when the officers arrested him, still wrongly, so what he popped off shots that’s still not illegal discharge because he discharged a round in a legal way

Delivery company’s simply can’t violate someone’s air rights, if the drone was on his property than that’s negligence on the delivery company. Negligence proven it’s a simple open and shut lawsuit

@@kylerrhea6379 Ok , KZbin lawyer. I can't even dumb myself down too acknowledge this argument. Go shoot at a drone in a neighborhood and see what it gets you. Even if the law really was on your side, that's a extremely dumb thing too do. I reiterate what I said earlier. I hope you don't own a firearm for your neighborhoods sake. Air rights? WTF? 😂

I think no matter what - no matter if everything is on film, and you admitted to everything, the defendant is always better of pleading not guilty. At the least, the prosecution can then offer lower charges, fines for them to change. I'm not saying I like our system all the time, its just how it is.
