I've always wondered, is that meant to be an actor playing the moody rock singer, Billy idol in the background of the recording booth

I don't think so and if it was, it's an inaccurate representation of him - Billy is actually a very nice and humble guy...I think it's just an accidental similarity in appearance.

I played this for my grandma while she was on her deathbed. She had dementia and was in her last days. She loved this song and when I played it she had so much emotion in her face. She may have not remembered who I was but she remembered this song. Music didn't leave the mind of my precious grandma and her favorite song. She knew this song and it reached her heart. She passed away January 26th 2021. I miss you Grandma and I'll be seeing you. I'm so dang sad and yet happy she is with my grandpa now. Lord have mercy. We lost a precious woman. She was so pretty. When she was young she had really dark brown hair and light blue crystal eyes. My grandparents would have made it 75 years together if my grandpa were still alive. He passed in 2001. She held out another 20 years and it was time to go join him. My grandparents and dad raised me and my older brother and sister. Thank you grandma for being everything to me

One of a very few singers, who can project emotions, through his voice alone. Sitting here tonight, listening to him, and reflecting on the woman, and the marriage I neglected. Not by cheating, but by spending 9-10 months at sea every year. So what? The money was good, but money comes, and it goes. So she tried to tell me. The love we shared was so great, it would have lasted until the day I died. I am now, a lonely old man, who will die the same. I cannot say, that she did not warn me.........10 years later, and I am still not over her.....

I SO love this song. I was looking at it, hearing, loving it, and my wife of 41 years heard and saw. She asked, "Are you 'worried' about us". I was FLOORED!. I turned to my left, looked at her, and said, "NO!, this is not about us!, it's about 'his' fans!. They love him (the artist) so much, yet, 'First they love you, then they leave you'. By God, I have never been so scared in my whole life. My existence, my breath, my Jill, was 'worried' about us. She. My Mate.

I saw him in '68 when I was 19 at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He was starting as a newbie...for the stage. He was impressive. Back then, we never knew he would be a star. We just thought he sang great.

👉 *I was 13.* I was so rooting for the song to be number one... listening to the countdown weekly. But when *John Lennon was shot,* I knew............... that this song would kept off the top spot by the song "(Just Like) Starting Over" by John Lennon. Which is of course a great song too! But the ethereal nature of Diamond's song still gives me chills! 🧊

Timeless. Not just the song, which is AMAZING...the 80s were my favorite decade. This video was right in the beginning of the 80s...I was a teen! Damn😁
