Agreed, its several channels that shows majority drag racing and think overlaying the car sounds with music is preferred.....unsubscribed after the third video, commented about it and CO said its his channel and does what he wants after 320 likes to my comment and 35 people agreed. Guess he didnt care about subs anyway lol

To those starting out on engine builds, that yellow funnel he's using on the radiator is the $20 headache-remover tool you need. Any time you dump coolant and put more in, you risk creating air bubbles that will cause you all sorts of heat issues even out on the highway as they turn into steam pockets. so, drill a little hole in your thermostat's lip to let the air pockets out of your block's coolant passages, fill the radiator until you're got that funnel halfway full, get the front nose of the car jacked up in the air, and let 'er sit a few hours. like bubbles in a glass of soda pop, your air pockets will move to the highest level, which is that funnel's fluid level. then start the engine and let it evacuate the air that remains--when the upper radiator hose feels warm to the touch and you stop seeing bubbles in the funnel's coolant, you know you're done (that particular funnel design blocks off the overflow tank, which is why it works so well).

David Vizard's channel did a dyno test and found 5-10 hp. but if you do enough things to an engine to add power here, there, and everywhere, they add up--for example, a crank scraper can be made for less than a dollar and add 5-10 hp at the higher RPMs. Ford used a longer 289 connecting rod on the Boss 302 to help with dwell at TDC. what these mods often do is change piston speed, and that will affect how the engine pushes out exhaust on the exhaust cycle, and how it pulls in air on the intake cycle. if you match a cam grind to the piston speed, you'll find even more power as the engine works with the changes instead of against them.

Old school guys did that in the mid-late 80s, my ‘88 short block is actually .005 out of the hole stock. I turned them around when I split the first block and it was .022 out so I put them back the original way with the ‘90 block and was dead even with the deck. Glad to see some stock engines with a turbo again, mine is stock except for roller rockers and billet timing set and Victor Jr intake with blow thru carb in my 84 coupe with a turbo made 454/505 on 15psi. Good luck and enjoy the “to the point video.

another path towards getting a zero deck or positive deck height (which requires the builder to really WTF about their crushed head gasket thickness) is to use over and undersized connecting rod bearings. a thicker than usual bearing on the connecting rod big end and a thinner than usual bearing in the cap will move the connecting rod higher up the cylinder, and thus the piston's reach when it gets to TDC. for an "at home" blueprinting, this might help someone who is mixing a used block that is already machined with reciprocating parts from another engine (or a stroker setup).

I was curious about what a standard foxbody engine config would do with turbo. Found your channel. Very amazing result you have , you are a good down to earth mechanic. Engine runs smooth to, very nice. I am from the netherlands driving a 5.0 turbo V8 is a dream for a European. Ferrari power with stock ford V8 great. I tuned my motoguzzi V2 see my channel , that is more our size 1 liter Haha. And I ride Audi A5 2 liter turbo. Nice power and feul efficiency. For wild ride I ride the motoguzzi cafe Racer. I was interested in fox body Mustang because they have a good size not to big. Good sporty GT size. Only needed that turbo setup.

I was searching for the relation between compression and turbo pressure. I can not find what would be the correct compression ratio in combination with turbo pressure?
@alertgasper
@alertgasper 11 ай бұрын
@@bottracer depends on the octane levels in the fuel. generally speaking, with a cast iron head, the factory will use an 8:1 compression ratio with single digit boost levels. an aluminum cylinder head resists heat and thus detonation better, allowing almost one point more compression. But let's say you have a small displacement engine, and going one point in compression to 9:1 will give you 4% more power when the turbo isn't running boost (usually a low RPM situation, such as cruising down the highway with the air conditioning on, or just puttering around town in the higher transmission gears). Depending on the weight of the car, that may actually matter, and it will help fuel efficiency. So, you use an aluminum head, or ceramic coat the combustion chamber on a cast iron head, or use higher octane gas... or... if you can get the intake, cylinder head, and exhaust system to offer less resistance to the turbo...you don't need as much boost pressure from the turbo to reach the same power level as you had when there was resistance. Boost is often a measurement of resistance since air is "squishy". So, a good intake design, a ported cylinder head, an exhaust system that evacuates the cylinder very well (and a good camshaft design helps as well) and you may find you need less boost, so you can run higher compression. of course, for some people, the only power level they want is "too much!", so the idea of cutting back on boost to just be happy with enough power to get around may seem odd to them. but if you're building a car to run on the street rather than the track, a small displacement engine with a turbo just giving enough boost for the engine to reach 100% volumetric efficiency (or a little more than that) might give peppy performance and good fuel economy.

Drive it on the highway. Get up to about 5k Rpm and let the car “engine brake” or decel itself. Do this about 3-4 x check for fluids on side of road. Rinse and repeat a few times. Be done with it. Your cutting rings if you had those replaced. Trying to seat them

I had to look into this "piston flip" because something about it didn't sound right. It made no sense at all that switching an offset thats perpendicular to the stroke would move the piston parallel to the stroke. I've concluded that it does not move the piston up, nor does it increase compression. What it does do is change the rod angle to a more favorable angle for making power. The stock offset increases side load, which decreases piston slap, but that sideload comes at the expense of "downward" force that is applied to the piston. The "flipped" piston with the better rod angle has more piston slap due to decreased side load, but more of the combustion pressure is applied to the crank rather than the cylinder wall. That's how I understand it anyway.

First of all, GREAT video with Very useful info! I heard you say in the video (5:40) you put a girdle on it. That’s interesting bc opinions very greatly on weather they help or not. So I guess you believe they help keep a stock block from cracking/splitting? Or do you just run it to keep all your shit together if it breaks? Lol (some people claim that’s all they’re good for) Did you run one in the black car when it had the stock block 302 with gt40 heads/intake?
@Neomustangs

I ran hard with and without a girdle. The second block I built for the black car had a girdle on it because I made such a mess when I split the original block. Someone told me “you’ll drive over your rods”. Which means you’ll get oil all over rear and hit a wall. So I run a girdle to prevent that more than anything

@bradpittman5075 5 жыл бұрын
Dave Miller keep the piston pinned to the rod. Do not change the orientation of the piston to the connecting just. Just flip to the other bank on the while. Same journal on the crank. 1 to 5 2 to 6 etc Bc the rods can only go one way on the crank. There is a chamfered side on the big end of the rod and that goes towards the counter weight or fillet area on the crank. Not sure if all oem ford pistons are like this but the 1989 had a oem forged piston. Good luck.

By moving the offset to the other side not only does it make the piston travel higher in the vote it also changes the angle at which the rod shoved down on the crank it actually has more leverage to push the crank kinda like a stroker.
