lmao. That reversing plane. Fun fact, most planes CAN go in reverse (on the ground at least), but it's generally kept to a minimum, and really only used to push away from the terminal. Larger jets get a truck to push them out backwards. This isn't because the aircraft can't go in reverse by itself, but because going in reverse requires putting the engines up to very high power, which is very dangerous for anyone nearby, especially for large aircraft, so it's something they avoid for safety reasons, not because they're unable to do it.

Somethingelse Yt / We do sleep while flying, but only with two pilots, one flying while the other naps for a few minutes. It’s called controlled resting, and is only done in cruise. We mainly use GPS to navigate, although various radio beacons still exist as a backup. If the apocalypse started and neither are options, we could still fly by looking for reference points on maps and tracking them as we fly over. If the landing airport is covered in fog, we use either radio beacons or the GPS to create a descent path to the ground. Most of the buttons and switches you see in cockpits control lights, circuit breakers, the autopilot, radios, things like that. The closer you get to directly in front of the pilots, the more important they get. Most are only touched at the start and end of the flight. If you want to know more about flying, then the KZbinrs “Captain Joe” “DutchPilotGirl” and “Mentour Pilot” are a good place to start. The world always needs new pilots! P.S. Flying is a lot more fun than anyone thinks it is. I’m still in training, flying small, GA planes, but I can’t wait to move up to the bigger ones!
