The same idea was used by the Allies leading up to the D-Day invasion in 1944. They used inflatable tanks, trucks, planes, etc. to confuse the Germans into to thinking they were invading at Calais, distracting them from the true invasion at Normandy. I believe it was called Operation Fortitude and it was lead by US General Patton.

Well, a plane is a large flat surface, but an air (or aero) plane is "a heavier-than-air aircraft kept aloft by the upward thrust exerted by the passing air on its fixed wings and driven by propellers, jet propulsion, etc." And and airship is "a self-propelled, lighter-than-air aircraft with means of controlling the direction of flight" So basically the only difference is that a plane is heavier than air, and an airship is lighter than air. I copied the definitions, as I'm too lazy to type them out myself

He does recognise a good game when he plays one. There are a few issues here and there, but considering the age of day ones patches and continuous repatches, this game works pretty well, and the classes seem better balanced than in previous battlefields. Can sometimes turn into a sniper match, but that's the fault of being on a terrible team, which does sometimes happen.

My main issue with this game is that tanks were an allied invention, and not really used at all by the central powers at all, since they didn't really learn how to make them until after the war.

The central powers actually used allied tanks all the time, since they would constantly capture and fix them up. The entente using the AS7 is a bit ridiculous, considering only 18 of the were made.

There are lots of fun features you didn't try out while you had the chance. Try pressing 2 on the horse and if you spawn as cavalry you have more health even if you're off your horse. If you keep playing this on your own time.
