Woa, I never expected Nerf to embrace hobbyists. They definitely make a lot of money with what they put on shelves, but it only makes sense with how much competition they're getting now a days. From what I’ve heard, hasbro stocks have been suffering in general. Now obviously hobbyist nerf is a pretty small part of that, but nerf is a huge brand for them, and if kids are more interested in pro-level blasters from Dart Zone and even X-shot, that’s a big problem. This feels more like a panicked reaction, not them listening to us or the competition. They literally just recreated a modded stryfe. I fear this might be too little too late. Hopefully I’m wrong though!

The retaliator would not work that well in my opinion. The whole gimmick was it being able to turn into 'multiple' blasters. Competitive players won't care about the added attachments, so then you would have an ergonomically inferior alpha trooper. The rapidstrike and alpha trooper would be cool but I would much prefer they design new blasters.

The Stryfe holds a special place in my heart, it was my first flywheel I rewired before hobby-grade motors were a thing and we were still cutting holes in the side of the shell for Blade 180 helicopter motors. Although I won't personally be using this blaster as I've moved on to brushless, I am really excited to see this come out since more competitive options being available off the shelf will make our hobby more accessible and bring in many new players!

@@oukie666 well you’re going to need to specify the blaster or it didn’t happen! lol. I figured a comment like this was coming. I should have specified “nerfs” first flywheel blaster. Which if you really want to get technical about it you could even argue that the rip chord or ripsaw were actually their first flywheel blasters back in 98 and 95 but those were operated with a chord as opposed to a battery so I guess it depends on how technical you want to get about things.

@@itsagundam79 lol well that one is getting away from foam flinging entirely. But yes those were definitely a thing. I had a set that had 4 tracks that crossed each other and 4 flywheels in between those. You’d make it into a circuit and it would just keep propelling the cars around until you got bored or they eventually crashed into each other. Edit: this set was made a little later in 93 to be fair. Criss cross crash set. apparently it was 5 flywheels and they still produce a version to this day.

It's definitely nice seeing Nerf finally get into the Pro ring and while I hope part of the intent with the Stryfe, other than the history and popularity, was that it will still be compatible body kits and other components that the community has been using for years, but can't help but think it was simply the cheapest way to do so. Pricing is a bit of a bummer when you consider that the Perses also had a rechargeable battery for $100. What's next for the Pro line will likely get worse in price but maybe we will at least get a Rapidstrike that performs amazing out of the box.

I would buy the omnia any day over this for the price sure and the better (imho) looks and select fire. The nerf battery seems like the real game changer and I can't comment on build quality. I just can't belive that nerf are so late to the pro game and don't put out an absolute 10/10 blaster. It baffles me that they didn't go for picatini or the flared magwell. The mag release also just seems like a compromise. I'm assuming its for financial reason. I suspect there is a dedicated, built for half length from scratch blaster coming somewhere in the future. They just seem to have lost a lot of trust in hobby space and I sort of hope nostalgia for the stryfe won't make the hobby forget nor forgive the slap in the face that was elite 2.0

I like the blaster. The lipo with the safety features is huge. The risks are the thing that have kept me from switching to them since I’m not an active nerfer. The only thing that I don’t like is that it’s exclusively short dart and the lack of an n strike barrel lug. Would have been nice to have the option to use long darts and be able to put attachments like the chronobarrel on there. Overall though it’s a great blaster for someone who wants solid performance right out of the box and would like a safer battery option.

Make the switch to short darts. Mod your favorites to take shorts, and you’ll never want to go back
@pastiesandagstring

@@Queldonus springers I’m more much more inclined with this thought. As short darts are pretty much always better. Flywheels you get varied results and I just like things modular really. Perhaps you’re somewhere with younger folks or long darts are just the game choice. I just like having the option to use either.

This is exactly the reason I never switched to LiPos. I didn't play enough to warrant it and now I'm on an extended hiatus, but between this blaster and the new Dart Zone hammer pistol, I might end that hiatus

Ok... I ain't really attracted to newer Flywheel blaster because, the Stryfe was always the best platform. This one is kind of Calling me. I was kind of hopping for a Springer blaster, but at least I was right on the Short Accustrike Darts XD. Really intrigued what they'll bring next

A question that I don't think was addressed in the video: Does the Stryfe X's mag well work with Talons, DZPs, etc, and can other half length dart blasters take Nerf Pro mags?

Hasbro warns on the package to use only official Nerf Pro darts and not to modify the darts or blaster. However, I was able to utilize non-Hasbro-manufactured magazines in the blaster, and Hasbro-manufactured magazines in some other half-length blasters.

Nerf played this really smart. 1. Using the stryfe shell was brilliant, saving money and using a platform everybody already loves. 2.Type-C charging is convenient as well. If they sell the batteries separately then that will just look even better on them but i'm sure these will get modded to accept different power sources anyways. 3.Would have been even better if they put picatinny rails but I can see why they didn't. Gotta keep it in line with a toy as well as keep it proprietary because Hasbro. 4. Excited for Accu-minis but they seem like they'll only be suitable for flywheelers on account of the width of the dart heads. Either way, it may have been late as hell but it seems nerf may finally be starting to get their act together.

On your criticism of the Magwell, personally I think that this blaster should have kept the original full-size magwell and mag-release position while allowing the catch to work with both full- and half-length mags, not only would it be a "flared well" for half-lengths but it would enable compatibility with full-length darts & mags, granting more options for players who have a lot of full-length gear but not much for half-length.
