Uh, notice how Lucas has a lot more mutli-hit moves? Well I like to think there's a reason for that, in Mother 3 there's a rythym mechanic, which if you push the button to the song's beat, then you can hit your opponent multiple times, so maybe that trait carried over to smash? Just speculation

+High Mighty Weasel I always considered his final hit with the neutral A a reference to his father Flint. One of his specials was a round house kick. And Lucas does a roundhouse kick here as well. I like your idea of it possibly incorporating the rhythm mechanic.

At first I was shocked that no one in the comments has mentioned this, but then again, Smash players are filthy fucking EarthBound not-players. Not all of their psychic moves are "PK" moves. PSI is short for "psionic", and not meant to be an acronym (but they asked for it with the all-caps spelling). This is for generic non-attacking moves, hence why it's called PSI Magnet and not PK Magnet. PK on the other hand, is exclusively a term for attacking moves, and is an abbreviation of "psychokinetic". And while it's not a missed factoid, it is interesting to note that Ness loves baseball and lives in "Eagleland", meaning he's very much meant to be an American kid. Yet for some reason he's voiced by a Japanese woman with broken English. Meanwhile, Lucas sounds super American.

Jut to be clear on the distinction between PK and PSI: PK stands for PsychoKinetic, and was used for all the attack moves (PK Freeze, PK flash, etc.) PSI just means general psychic ability, and was used for all indirect attacks (PSI Magnet, PSI Lifeup, etc.)

I think the fact that Lucas attacks using predominantly kicks is a reference to Duster. Specifically, the fact that his jab is three kicks seems too odd to be coincidence. A nice detail that I don't see people mention.
