I was just diagnosed with diverticulitis. I eat clean and i am in shock. I'm on flagyl and Cipro. I'm so depressed. I had a CT scan but will never get a colonoscopy. Too many dangers attached to it I'm on my second day and im so impatient. This disease sucks!! Sending healing prayers to all that are suffering 🙏

I was diagnosed 12 years ago. And I tend to flare at least once a year. It seems to flare if I eat nuts, seads, really fibrous foods like raw veg, mandarins and tomatoes. Stress and illness also plays a huge part for me. It is different for everyone. Thank you for sharing your experience and thank you to everyone in the comments section. Good luck everyone.

I have diverticulitis . I had abdominal pain since I was 12yrs. old off and on . Finally I had pain and a fever , went to emergency and was diagnosed finally in my late 40's . The infection did not want to go , even with a regime of strong antibiotics . The doctor refused to operate because he thought I would die during the operation . I had been on strong antibiotics for a month and the doctor refused still to operate . Then I was hospitalized again , my husband made a big stink about the doctor not operating , fired him and found another doctor that would do the surgery . That was almost 10 years ago . I have had 1 infection since . Changed my eating habits . I suffer with constipation once in a while . The only food I found that triggers an attack is eating Coconut . The coconut goes through my intestines like it was razor blades . I just hope the bowel resection holds . So far so good .

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis a couple of weeks ago and sent three nights in the hospital. It is the most awful pain and I agree with you I have been totally exhausted! My mother and her sister also suffer from this disease. My biggest fear had been eating they had me on a all liquid diet when I was in the hospital then switched me to a soft diet. Now I am wondering when I should start adding fiber back to my diet I’m am scared to death of bringing it back! They said to much fiber to fast could irritate me and bring it back but you can’t have a normal bowel movement without fiber so that is my issue right now. Sorry if that is TMI. They said to use a probiotic and some Ben fiber to help keep another attack away but I have no idea what probiotic to take there are so many! It’s going to be so hard living in fear of eating something that might bring this back this disease is no joke and can kill you if you get an abscess that leaks into your gut! I am having such high anxiety from this entire situation. I hope and pray you continue to be ok and I hope you will pray for me as well this is so scary. My first colonoscopy will be in a few months they want to wait for me to heal good before they do it fingers crossed I don’t have any cancer in my colon! Thanks for the video

Hi, nice video, its helped me. I'm pretty caviler about my health, I'm 58, and every time I get sick I just do research and fix myself. My doc normally says good job and I move on. Yesterday I went and left the emergency room, joking and unconcerned about my diagnosis, yes it was very painful where I could not walk, but I left thinking no big deal. This morning I find your video to see other peoples experience and I find you and the comments below. Now I can see it's a little more serious than I thought. Lol Now I understand the student doctors face when I said, "thank god it was not kidney stones, so no big deal". Now I'll take it more seriously. Oh, as for cancer, most of my family has died of cancer, some young. I look at this way, since you're still so young, just live each moment in the present and really appreciate the people in front of you( don't be on the phone) and you will be content with your life when its your turn to go. I know most people will think I'm rude for me bringing that up, but I just want to help you to have a happy life and not worry a lot about cancer. You have helped me with being more present so i hope I helped you a little. Thx and Peace;)

Hi, thanks for this video. I have the same story that happened to me this past February 2020. I to brushed off abdomen pain for a couple of years. Early this February my lower abdomen swell up like the size of a grapefruit. The pain was more then I have ever felt. I then had a CT diagnosed with diverticulitis and the surgeon said your colon is at risk for a rupture. We need to do this ASAP. My diverticulitis was in my sigmoid colon. Surgery was scheduled 4 or 5 days later. The night before or that day of surgery my sigmoid colon did rupture 2" long. After surgery, it was like death. Overwhelming fatigue and pain. So I feel for you.

I had Diverticulitis December 2018, and developed a sigmoid abcess that spread through my stomach. Was hospitalized 23 days and now have had a flare up of diverticulitis just finished my antibiotics and I still don't feel good. Probably going to have to be admitted for intravenous antibiotics. The pain you get in the lower left part of your stomach is no joke. I was hoping to never feel it again but it hit me a couple weeks ago and I've been home after going to urgent care. I still haven't had seeds, nuts, or corn or popcorn but yet I had a flare up. Drink lots of water that helps.

I was just diagnosed with Duodenal diverticulitis yesterday. I’m 21 years old but have been having these same flare up symptoms for 5 years and was finally diagnosed through a CT scan. It was funny that you said your most recent flare up was in August when your last one was also in August. That’s been the case for me too. Ever year around this time of year I have flare ups from around October to December. They just started me on antibiotics and anti nausea medicine so that I can actually try and keep food and liquid down. I go for a follow up with a GI doctor soon. I’m going to consider going vegetarian because I’ve heard that helps also. Thank you for this video. There aren’t many videos like this out.

I recall commenting at the time as I was awaiting surgery. I got taken in as emergency as had formed abscess with it and it had perforated and formed fistula and made an unholy ‘communication’ to my bladder. I’ll spare you the details. Had to put up with it for a couple of months to try and avoid colostomy. Thankfully the wonderful NHS sorted me out. I do have quite the scar and I have had about two foot of my colon missing. I became vegetarian afterwards as I still have the buggers in my ascending colon still. I do live in fear of its return. Stay well.

I find this very interesting because I too have suffered with bouts of diverticulitis myself. The last being four years ago resulting in surgery due to a bowel blockage due to infection. I had an ostomy and had to wear a bag for about eight months to divert waste and give time for that part of colon to heal. It was then reversed and I have not had any issues since then. That is a severe situation , but something to know as far as being in tune to your body and what is going on , which you are doing so very well. As far as diet, I too had been given so many conflicting thoughts as to what may cause this. I was also told to avoid eating anything with seeds, nuts or anything that could get caught in the pockets of colon ( the diverticuli ), but then was told that was not a concern. I think what you are doing as far as taking care of your body with healthy foods including fiber is the best you can do. Also, listening to your body for signals that something is not right. Thank you for sharing your story which will encourage others to listen to what their bodies are telling them.

I typed what to eat after diverticulites surgery and your video came up. I just want to say I am glad to hear you doing good now and Take really good care of your self. I was diagnosed with diverticulitis about 4 years ago at the age of 23 that's when I had my first episode. I was in the hospital for about a week on antibiotics healed and life went on. Last November I had my second episode my intestines perforated I was in the hospital for about a month went through a lot of exams. Luckily the perforation closed but I was told that I needed to get surgery to remove the infected part. On April 11th 2019 I had the surgery it went great no colostomy bag no drain needed. 2 days after my intestines ruptured again it started leaking I was in a lot of pain they did a CT scan and saw what was happening I went into emergency surgery and came out with a colostomy bag and a drain. With those two days of leakage an abscess grew in between my intestines. It was to dangerous to go in there and drain it because of the risk on mistakenly rupturing my intestine. So now i have to take antibiotics for a long time till its gone. Being in so much antibiotics and fluids doctors didn't know why this happened but I started to hemorrhage I lost a lot of blood ended up in ICU, I ended up getting a blood transfusion I was in there for about 3 days and was on a suction tube for the rest of my time at the hospital, because my stomach kept producing acid and i couldnt keep it or anything down. I was vominting alot. I stayed in the hospital close to a month. I finally got out three days ago. I have to keep a colostmy bag for 6 month then i will have the final surgery to remove the bag. Take good care of your self.

Thank you so much for sharing this update with us. My husband just had his first attack of diverticulitis and was in the hospital for a week. I thought they were gonna have to do emergency surgery but he’s home now on antibiotic‘s as well and I’m going to have him watch your video update because he’s exhausted and I think he’s wondering why he so exhausted so your video update is really going to help him understand what he is going through now. so thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Also for your feedback on what your diet is now so maybe that will help him to understand he “shouldn’t” eat fried foods anymore. LOL

Sunflower seeds and nuts put me in a flare-up every time. I think Brussel Sprouts also cause me to flare-up.

You can find a list of foods to avoid online. When you have a flare-up you must lower your fiber intake until you heal. Then you can slowly start to add fiber back into your diet.

Hi i actually found you through that video. Its crazy because i was diagnosed with this and ended up in the ER last Christmas. Thinking back the week that lead up to my incident, i too was eating fast foods that i normally do not have much of. I dont eat much red meat and dont ussauly eat burgers at McDonalds or burger king...that week i had burgers and fries about 3 times during the week. I thought for sure thats what triggered it ,but doc says they dont know what triggers it. Anyways, sometimes i get this light pain in the same area and i get so nervous that it will happen again. I ussually will start eating lighter and plain foods until i feel better. Do you eat popcorn? Just wondering 🤔

I've only recently been diagnosed with diverticulitis 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately I'm on the more severe side after a small perforation was found in my bowel. I'm freaking out as I'm only 33 I've got no idea what to eat anymore. So I'm avoiding eating as much as possible at the moment. Thanks for your video it's been very helpful.

Hello my name is Alicia and I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis yesterday due to having a colonoscopy I’m only 32 years and I’m freaking out because almost everything that I eat hurts my stomach not knowing this what it is that has been bothering me for years. I became vegan 4 months a go and it has helped me some way, but I am still having a lot of pain, sometimes I don’t know what to eat anymore. Thank you for sharing your story. I seen you comment and I had to comment on it, because I’m going through it too. And this video was very informative to me too.

I was also diagnosed at the age of 34. I'm still trying to find a diet to stop flare ups. So far, I've had 2 flare ups.

HCL + Pepsin. If you have GERD, be careful. Try it, good luck.

Just found your channel trying to do some research on diverticulitis. I am 32 and was just diagnosed on Tuesday 5/11/21. I also have an abnormally large ovarian cyst on my left side so I have been in a lot of pain. It has been tough sleeping even driving. Trying to figure out which foods I’d be able to eat. I too recently traveled and ate foods that I don’t normally eat on a daily basis so think that might’ve contributed to it.

I’m glad I found your video. I had my first flare up in April 2019. I am currently going through another flare up. 😭 I hate having to deal w this. I also get a lot of being young to have this. I’m only 31.

I am 76 yrs. old and I eat pretty healthy but I have had either constipation or diarrhea for the last 10 yrs. I had 2 colonoscopies in 10 yrs. and the doctors said everything looked good. They suggested eating more fiber witch I do anyhow and take a stool softener. Now, I don't know what to do.
