as a note to the pd4 hdr compatibility: there has since been a firmware (i would assume, seeing as i just set my tv up today) which has you indicate what the port is being used for. I was able to specify it as >console>ps4. This was required when setting up my tv. HDR was detected immediately when i turned it on via my ps4.

Had this TV since early 2017. Works good for a budget TV and has been good for me since I got it. I’m making an upgrade finally for the PS5 but if your just a casual gamer and your okay with 60hz then yes this TV is great. I don’t believe the TV can run 4K 60hz cause it’s not HDMI 2.1 but either way it’s a good tv for gaming and a great budget TV and lasts a long time.

I'll admit I had to look up what that is. Active HDR is dynamic metadata that can optimize brightness and colour on a frame by frame basis. Dolby Vision is a brand of active HDR. You are going to have to pay a LOT more to get that, it's only on high-end TVs right now (not many). You can absolutely GAME on HDR (non active). I'm not away of any active HDR games. If a PS4 or XB1 game says HDR supported, it's HDR10 which this Sharp TV supports.

Yes. Didn’t I show that in this video? Been awhile since I made it but I think I did. Ensure HDMI 2.0 is enabled to get HDR to detect on PS4 properly.

ATSC 3.0 (over the air) will be able to broadcast 4k :) :) :) ... They will start the transition in 2019 in US but in Canada maybe few years later I guess. If tv broadcast channel and cable/iptv provider could switch from 720p/1080i 30fps to 1080p/60fps that would be a GREAT improvement. The problem actually is... broadband limitations. 720p is ugly over 46" inch tv or on a new 4k tv.

Great review! I currently am thinking of snagging this as my first TV in over 10 years replacing a rear projection Sony Wega that is well beyond it`s time. Frankly, anything would be an upgrade :p. But a quick question for you Netcruzer. I actually went into BestBuy this evening to check this out on the floor and one of the sales clerks there was adamant that it does not upscale pointing me towards some tvs a bit higher in price that he said did. Off axis washout so I returned. For my room I need the wider viewing angles of an IPS panel. If this TV had better viewing angles I would have kept it. It's real HDR but the TV doesn't have a wide colour gamut so you're not getting the best possible HDR picture. Pretty much all entry level 4k TV's are that way though.

Yeah I'm on RokuOS 8. The software, transitions, power on, Its smooth as butter. Image is crystal clear, have not used the HDR yet to see what that's like. Only had it a day so that's as much as I really can say. I got it on sale too for $379 cad open box deal at Best Buy.

It would work the same way. If you have an Xbox 1S or 1X just ensure the HDMI port is set to 2.0, not auto. Then 4K and HDR will be detected by the console properly.

It does not have the headphone jack on the TV remote. Good question! That's a feature I forgot that some of the other Roku devices have.

No it totally depends how far away you are. From a normal viewing distance the 4K may not be a noticeable improvement, but the HDR is. However I could see that small text was much clearer and easier to read than on my 1080p TV of a similar size.

bought the 32 inch sharp hd only tv with roku this summer for the kids ...the thing has almost no inpu lag that i can notice and the pictures on movies and tv look fantastic ...I hope this version has the same image quality as the low cousin of this tTV line. recently got the tcl55p605 ..and is a POS...literaly mu kids 32 inch non 4k is brighter , has deeper blacks than the POS I got for 700+ after taxes ...and it cost me less than 200 dlls the 32 inch ...I saw the sharp Aquos 4k tv ...But it was not displaying anything at the store just an image ...I wonder if that is a better tv than the TCL POS i got.
