@bthorner334 жыл бұрын
@sluttyMapleSyrup well, Mulaney has the ADHD that he features very prominently, and that is neurodiverse, and the way it frames the perspective is different than neurotypical. Noticing things others would ignore and see "unimportant" detail as equal priority as "important" and telling it as so is very much an ND trait. But that's just my experience being ND
@bradeast80214 жыл бұрын
@@bthorner33 I think in this instance you're right it feels a bit more directly related to neurodivergence... like her attempts to reiterate and structure of reiterating why it is relevant yet not relevant information for her in her social engagement and almost sets the scene with stimuli as required... "added stress" haven't thought about Mulaney's relationship to ADHD though, makes all the sense in the world... but as someone with ADHD (and without ASD) you're still in my opinion kinda closer to the point... for ADHD it would feature as the whole point for the conversation, and if it hadn't started that way would have headed in that direction before the pun discussion anyway

Our whippet almost always has some kind of wound on his legs if he's been running around a forest or dog park etc. So some owners get them some extra protection for that reason.

Its interesting how comedy is genuinely subjective, I fell on this by accident and thought why not and even though I didn't find it funny (at all), reading the comments its intriguing to see how many people loved it, kind of shows how humour genuinely is unique and what one person finds funny someone else can entirely not. Anyway have a nice day people

Thanks for not screaming in red-faced rage about how she's not funny and how everyone who claims to enjoy her is faking it just to be woke, like most of her detractors do.

Hannah Gadspy is the type of person that I would love to have an honest conversation. Yes I fall under the category of men that she’s not a fan of (Straight Middle Aged White Man) but I find her method of thinking to be intriguing and food for the soul. She is the type of person that you don’t encounter much…one that speaks truth like I do…difference being is she has zero fucks to give if others disagree with her. There is so much that I’d want to know as I think she can truly teach a lot if you’re able to take some shit and listen.

This was such a fun, intelligent special. The meta jokes and art critique toward the end had me rolling. It's a shame KZbin has a disproportionately large share of fragile neckbeards who feel threatened by witty women in comedy. With 'Nanette' and 'Douglas', Hannah has carved out a top tier spot where she stands among the comedy greats.
@Jplp56434 жыл бұрын
That is blatantly false.

Jplp5643: A+ rebuttal. Bravo. How long did it take you to compose such a bulletproof comment?
@Jplp56434 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Baird allow me to explain. Can you explain to me what part of this is considered comedy instead of commentary? There’s no setup, no punchline. She’s not witty. It’s stupid Netflix continues to promote her instead of other, more funny female comedians.
@jonathanbaird4 жыл бұрын
Jplp5643 First, comedy is subjective. If people didn’t like her style and message, she wouldn’t be selling out theaters and scoring specials. Second, this is a 7 minute clip of an hour-long show. There is a fair amount of context and meta humor that is left out. I’m a huge fan of Burr, Mulaney, Pryor, Carlin, C.K, Chappelle, Tomlinson, Sloan etc... and I will happily add Gatsby to my list of favorites. I’d recommend at least giving ‘Douglas’ a shot before passing judgement. The art history jokes in particular are hysterical. Cheers.

Had no idea who Hannah Gadsby was until recently. I'm a big fan of comedy and stand up comedy, and always excited to hear something new. I have no clue how anyone finds this comedian funny, at all. I've watched about 4 videos now, and didn't laugh even once. On the only positive note, I do like her delivery style and her poise on stage. But in terms of laughs, there's zero.

I watched the whole show just cuz I’m open minded to hear something different and although I respect what “they” are doing, I can’t find this person to be funny. Ironic how critics in rotten tomatoes gave her an outstanding score compared to the audience score which was an all time low; where as they gave Dave Chappell a low rating with his audience score being at an all time high. Really shows how outta sync these corporations are with how we really feel.
@paulguerra95813 жыл бұрын
@@Nudeln667 when Dave mentioned corporations he meant what was going on in Netflix as a corporation. the politics within the organization. The people who are calling shots on which content can be showed or not aka the censorship of comedy. They are trying to have Netflix stop airing his comedy so he jokes about that saying how he’s not even allowed to enter the building. One of the employees who was at a really high position was fired for leaking information in regards to Dave as well, so those are the people who he’s talking about

I`ve have had these comments all my adult life. Also, `Are you OK? you look really angry.` This conversation sometimes took place in nightclubs: Random stranger: `Cheer up mate, it might never happen` . Me: ` Too late mate, it`s already happened. I have terminal cancer`. RS: `Oh fuck, sorry mate`. Even worse for me was when people tried to get me to dance. Sometimes they would even violate my personal space and literally attempt to drag me on to the dance floor. I don`t dance. Never have, never will. I don`t get it; it`s something that on the few occasions I had a go, I felt clumsy and exposed. I much preferred to just sit and watch people`s behaviour, which I have always found fascinating. A bit like being at the zoo, only with no bars between me and the inmates. Other than that I quite liked those places. It meant I didn`t have to engage in small talk, what with the volume and all, which was fine by me.
