I used to be the manager of a hotel in Costa Rica, dream-gig, and every evening I'd go beach casting. I'd use a throw net in the estuary to catch mullet for bait. One evening I caught a lot of tiny shrimp, so I used them as bait. I caught more fish than the rest of the year. Mostly pompano, but snapper and snook. The predator fish knew the shrimp were running. It was a good evening.

Epic session on the prawns there Sammy, I remember when I worked on Trawlers out of Shorncliffe, it would take us all night to get a bucket of prawns at times. The good thing about cast nets is you're not getting all that by-catch of jelly fish, mantis shrimp,, happy moments and squid that we use to get. Those bloody sea lice constantly getting in eyes and all over you when you emptied the nets on the sorting table would drive you nuts. I think you knocked it out of the park with that recipe, Shawn and Sammy cook offs will be more like the Cook and the Chief from now on (lol).

Sorry to be a pain in the backside but i hope you are eating all the prawns you catch that day before going out to catch more as the fisheries stipulate that ,(The following legal limits apply to fish / prawns taken in Queensland waters. A bag limit (take and possession limit) is the total number of fish / prawns that one person can legally take and keep at any one time.) this also covers the amount in your fridge or freezer at home . A friend of mine got done for taking and possessing to many prawns at one time due to having 8 kg at home and 6.5 kg in his boat which worked out to be more than the 10 litre limit .
@SammyHitzkeFishing2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, not a pain at all! I did actually have a big feed of fresh prawns that first night, but besides that in my house I have 3 people in my family. Meaning we are allowed 3 bag limits of recreationally caught prawns in our possession at our place of residence. So with even without eating a single prawn fresh we would still be well and truly under our limit of prawns by more then half. At no point in time did I take more then my personal bag limit on any day or in any session. Appreciate your concern though 🍻🍻
@systemsrenegade98882 жыл бұрын
@@SammyHitzkeFishing be careful with that as they have to be able to throw a net to prove they caught them i know I'm being picky but in Bundy they really cracked down on this as people were taking friends out in their boat to up the bag limit and were told by the fisheries they could be done if they could not throw a net ( they class the thrower of the net as the person for the bag limit just like crabs and crab pots . the person with the name on the pot has to be in the boat at the time of capture ) , just trying to save your backside if they want to get uppity and enforce the laws on you .
@barrapete79482 жыл бұрын
@@SammyHitzkeFishing You definitely can't catch a bag limit for another member of the household lol. It's a personal bag limit. Feel fee to check with qld fisheries.
