Keep in mind that the EQ is not a modeled tonestack, it's more a studio EQ that is after the amp profile, for cuts and boosts, which you could use any EQ plugin after the NAM plugin.

Looks very good and the fact it is open source is a huge plus. 2023 seems to be the year where AI/Machine Learning based tools have well and truly arrived. I recommend trying a physical Boss CS3 compressor pedal before the interface rather than a plugin. It allows you to even out your DI signal before it hits your interface and also adds nice sustain and warmth. Cheers

Good suggestion. I often use a Strymon Compadre for the same purpose. Some of my older recording technique vids discuss the technique.

That HiWatt profile sounds fantastic as a clean tone. I think it all comes down to the profile. If someone really knows what they're doing, and makes a good profile, it's really going to sound good. The problem is that there are SO MANY profiles available, it's hard to narrow down to choosing only the good ones. AND you have to have a good IR, too. The Speaker IR makes a huge difference in sound. Not just here, but in any device using speaker IRs. They can change you tone more than the amp profile.

@@chordsoforion I think this is going to replace my Fractal units for recording Bill. I prefer the sound of my pedals over Fractal's effects and I am loving the organic quality and touch sensitivity of some of the NAM models that folks have captured so far. It can only get better, as you said in your video. Also, I think you might really enjoy the new movie called "Paint". My friend Lyle Workman composed and recorded the gorgeous soundtrack that includes some amazing guitar arrangements and orchestral accompaniment.

Could you comment some time about string tension on a headless guitar. I've always wondered. I really trust your opinion.

There is no difference in tension in headless guitar vs regular guitar, given a particular scale length, string gauge and pitches. So for example a set of 10-46 tuned to EADGBE will have the same tension on a 25.5" scale length headless guitar and a 25.5" scale length standard guitar.

Are you finding you are missing features that are available only in Logic? If you can complete projects to your satisfaction in GB, then maybe there’s no need to upgrade?

I like Paul's answer. Are you looking to do something in GB and you can't? Is there a LPX feature you need? In general, though, Logic will have critical features such as a mixer with bus and send routing that you will need for creating more complex productions. In addition, it has many plugins and editing features that GB does not have. if you search, you will find a number of great articles comparing GB against LP.

@@chordsoforion I went from Logic back to GB before going back to Logic. You don't have to use every feature, but there were a couple of things that I wanted. If you're using software instruments and drummers, then it helps to have support for more time signatures (Last time I looked, GB only supported 4/4, 3/4 and 6/8). I also really like the adaptive Tempo feature in Logic. I can record a rough demo on an acoustic and Logic will pick up my (slight, and always musical!) variations in time and match the tempo to my playing. So the drummer software and software instruments can be quantised to me, not a robotic grid. But, otherwise, for demos and "fun" recordings, GB is pretty good.
