The statement Dr Chatterjee makes about 'if we're always stressed and if that is fundamentally making us a different person, then do we know who we really are? ' really rings true for me! Stress does change us. It doesn't allow us the space to focus on our own values and priorities. We are driven by the external to the detriment of the internal. Such a great conversation!

The topic of trust here is fascinating. It's making me think that people who don't trust anyone must be in a constant state of stress. This explains the power of community in healing in a different way.

I don't watch the news. I don't follow influencers on social media. I try to stay grounded. I recently traveled to Ireland and people, for the most part, are normal. Not done up to the nines, not wearing tons of makeup, being real, and that is real life. Marketing needs to be overhauled and ethics applied with stricter guidelines towards representation of humans. Body shaming needs to be outlawed. False misrepresentation of products needs to be outlawed, and companies should be fined for false misrepresentation.

Excellent content. Would be good to hear some information for those of us dealing with serious chronic long-term health issues. Where you did "all of the above" and life pulls the rug from under your feet. Not everyone has a full tank of gas to give.

Those are such excellent points. I'm no expert on any of these things, but I have been battling chronic illness for the last several years, and I couldn't agree more with your assessment that not everyone has a full tank of gas to work from. I can say that for myself, I've had to learn ( and I'm still learning) to balance accepting where the state of my body and my experience of life is at any given moment, while at the same time recognizing that even with my half tank or quarter tank of gas I'm typically able to do something. I can't do as much as I used to be able to. And I can't work on the same short timeliness that I used to. Most frustrating, I can't necessarily do the things reliably, as on a consistent basis. And I think dealing with those frustrations, as much as dealing with the chronic illness itself, can take up more energy sometimes than my putting in an hour a day toward some goal. I've found that when I need rest, it's usually best to just take it as I'm able. And when I can work, it's best for me to do it with perspective and pace. I actually liked this interviewee's suggestion of an action board. I think for someone like myself with chronic illness, maybe the action on the board doesn't need to be grand or represent a very long term goal. Maybe it just needs to be attainable and enjoyable so we can build up as we're able from there. All the best to you and anyone else trying to navigate these things. I believe that God loves us no matter what and gives us the grace to go through anything as we trust him. Jesus has been the source of my strength these last several years, and he'll be that strength for anyone in any state or situation as we just trust him.

14:58 Of course, you can be on social media in a positive way. You just have to debug your feed to show you your interests and motivations. I either get news about my interest, or content that instead of discouraging me, generating a negative feeling of comparison, motivate me because I choose to see it as the possibilities that are out there, achievements of others (perhaps exaggerated) that I can perfectly achieve if I focus, first of all, on having the certainty that I deserve them and that it is within my reach

1% a day would be 365%. The basic idea is that incremental work done daily leads to big improvements over the year. While you're feeling like very little has changed from day to day, you will eventually realize that you've greatly improved as compared to when you started and not even noticed because it was just such small steps.

In case a soul reads this msg, is journaling more effective when we just wake up? Still in bed? And is it about writing how I feel? Or what I wish to happen? Thanks
@thecraftywitch5104 ай бұрын
Both. You do what suits you and in time a pattern will suit you rather than trying to stick to a strict regime. (If you can't sleep or wake up theough the night emptying your head on to paper might help you get back to sleep) or stress less. Journalling should be loose and free and fun... add as little or as much as you like.....insert a dream/wish list page if it suits your thought process at this time...a goal/ambition page...or just general thoughts...a fun random page for the madness we think about sometimes lol ..its all relative! Add doodles and beautiful bits and bobs throughout... And gl ...journalling is really good for you..but has to be personal

It's a good idea to have some filtering and not let your phone bombard you with news, but it is also important to know what is going on in the world so that you can make informed choices and not live a vacuum. For example, what is going on in Palestine is very distressing but also very important. In my opinion, it is very selfish to block out events like this. If any of us were trapped in the situation faced in Palestine, I would hope that people in other places wouldn't block it out just because it makes them feel bad. Though of course I don't advocate for reading the news when going to bed. I think this podcast would have been fine if this had been made clear in the episode but it wasn't.
