This is a really great video. After six weeks of working on the van, I am definitely missing the long, lonely stretches of desert road. You did a nice job of sharing the history and locations, and I really enjoyed seeing the military equipment and the desert big horns. Jason

Thanks so much! We love exploring Nevada and those long lonely roads. It was exciting to see the big horn sheep. I see them quite a bit on these desert trips, but have never been able to capture them on film before. I appreciate you watching. Hope you're out on the trail again soon!

Another beautiful video. It's great to see you two getting out and exploring the out-of-the-way places. And I love the way you have your Comanche fitted out for off-road trekking and camping. It's nice to see an old rig like that still being used the way it was intended to be used.

Back in the day, those old stamp mills used to use liquid mercury to amalgamate the gold. Gold sticks to the mercury like glue. Then it is burned off, leaving the gold behind. The silica dust created by those stamp mills was a killer to breathe every day. Mining was a hard, short life back then.

I can't imagine what a hard life those miners endured. I read at Berlin the cyanide used in processing washed down into a pond that the children used as their swim hole.

So many of those old mines are hard to get to by today's standards. Building them with the resources that were available 100+ years ago is really amazing.

Such rough conditions, it's mind blowing they were able to get the supplies out to these remote places to build entire towns.

This was really neat. I love all these old abandoned ghost towns out west. Nevada certainly has a lot of them. You wouldn’t want to break down out there. It’s so remote. I was thinking of rattlesnakes when you looked in the mine then you said you were watching out for them. Hope you are having fun. 👍

Thanks, they say Nevada has more ghost towns than living towns. And breaking down out there was a concern. We sometimes didn't see another car all day on this trip. Trey is prepared with tools and extra parts though 😉. Appreciate you watching!

@@kristinkoepke5182 I appreciate the kind words. There are a few different Nevada ghost town books we have used, but we have more luck studying maps. Also there's a website with a lot of great information www.nvexpeditions.com/index.php thanks for watching!

Nevada looks like a sleeper state to me. You guys have shown us so many cool little old towns and sites in that state over the past year that shows there's more to the state than just Las Vegas. How deep were those mines?
@campoutwestus6 ай бұрын
I used to think the same thing about NV, but every time we explore there I'm blown away. It's hard to say how deep those mines are. In one clip we dropped a rock and you could hear the delay when it finally hit something. Thanks for coming along!

Also, im looking for a rooftop tent. Are you guys able to store your blankets in your tent?
@campoutwestus3 ай бұрын
@@kristinkoepke5182In our old rooftop tent we were able to store a lot of bedding. This newer, low profile tent only allows one sleeping bag flat out, with one blanket on top. We compare the two tent styles in our "inspired overland rooftop tent review" video and that might help you to decide which style tent is best for you.
