Oh, someone made a very interesting comment about this video. They said, the way to rid stress is to avoid people. This definite is correct if they are the percentage that go around squashing others. But apparently helping everyone else is a great stress reliever.

Just curious, is there any current research into a protocol that may begin to unwind some of the damage of so-called forever chemicals? Help draw some out of our bodies? Probably even a small percentage would help.

When I stress about anything, I ask myself if there's anything I can do about it. If yes, then I do it. If no, then it's beyond my control. Either way, worry does nothing. Do what you can. Waste no energy on the rest. My stress usually ends quickly.

Excellent advice except that in a large majority of cases, stress is caused by cretins that you have to interact with in your life who have negative impacts on you. Muppets that you have to deal with such as companies that provide your amenities. Muppets like Amazon & other delivery courier companies whose delivery drivers can’t adequately complete your delivery in a professional & safe manner without incurring damage. Exorcising stress from our lives is only attainable by eradicating interactions with people who are idiots.
@rafaelshumaker1883
@rafaelshumaker1883 Жыл бұрын
Hmm, in each of the things you mentioned, there are things I can do and other things beyond my influence. So why stress? Just knowing that those kinds of things will continue to happen is nothing to stress over because that's the future. I do what I can to prepare and let the rest go. No need to stress over things that have not happened. For those things that have already happened, I do what I can to fix them, even filing complaints, and possibly threatening legal action. Amenities and delivery companies are not untouchable. Getting angry about things, whether accidental or intentional, is useful for motivation to do what needs to be done. But stewing over such things is needless stress that you give to yourself. In that case, you are your own source of stress.

Another way to relieve stress is to replace worry and mental stress with intentional prayer (ask for divine help) and then taking some action towards what is concerning or stressing you. Plus as the Dr mentioned, focusing on service to others over service to self gives you a positivity boost and creates positive Karma.

Like many people, I think, I felt that something was missing at Christmastime. Finally, in my 40’s, I got a group of adults together and we decided to do something none of us had done before. On Christmas Day, we went to a hospital, sang carols, handed out small gifts and talk with the patients. I hoped that it made a difference to them because it certainly did to us! Then we went to a hotel restaurant and had a beautiful dinner……and no clean-up! The whole experience was very uplifting. I fully realized that those childhood memories some of us miss and try to recapture (an exercise in futility) are meant to be just that…lovely memories. Time to create something new. Now that I’m in the elderly category with mobility issues, I simple donate what I can….toys, food bank…whatever. As Dr. Berg says….it’s as much of a gift to me as it is to the other….maybe more so.❤️

When my daughter was stressed as an adolescent I would take her to the Human Society and you could literally see the stress melting down her body. I also volunteered a lot and I could attest that it improves your well being. I was a volunteer at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta years ago, and helped to translate and interpret for the Spanish population at the Maternal and Child Care Floor, or I would help with the premature babies. It was was absolutely amazing.❤❤❤ To all the people out there that are retired and only focus on themselves and their bodies- volunteering not only help your body but also your soul because you could see how little are your issues comparing to the world. Then, you stop trying to control your environment and things that used to bother, do not bother you anymore (like the teens next door playing loud music, or the rude person at the grocery store). With oxitocin, you tend to be more gentle, more understanding, less judgemental, and with a lot more paciente- which is a very good thing❤❤❤❤

I used to work for a large multinational investment bank in Sydney Australia and my stress levels were off the Richter scale because I felt I needed to always exceed the company's expectation of me in fear of being seen as a "slacker" and not devoting my entire life to making more and more profit for the company. My general health, both physical and mental, started to decline rapidly after 6 years of that life. So one day I packed up and moved to Tasmania and now live on a 2 acre plot in central Tasmania with my dogs, cats, budgies and 3 orphan lambs and space to move. I thought I'd hit the jackpot until I started volunteering at St Vincent's de Paul Society and I tell you, I LOVE going in twice a week to work with like minded volunteers and find the interaction with customers extremely rewarding. There is such a feeling of comradery in the shop and although I'm tired by the time I get home after a long day on my feet, I feel good. So Dr Berg, you're spot on 👍.

When I’m having a stressful day I always say to my self “save space to focus on others”. That usually means smiling at a stranger in the store, giving a cashier a compliment or giving people space to get over in traffic. I’m also a yoga instructor and one of the favorite queues is to tell my students to “breathe into the low back space on the inhale, imagine filling the kidneys up like balloons”. I find that breath focus can be really disabling for stress.

Hi Dr. Berg. As you already know; we all love you & what you have decided to do for all of us. Thank you. We are all eternally grateful for you and all you teach us., which always contains the power to restore the human body, this side of heaven. Now I have something to share with you; a really cool story. I hope you enjoy it. While taking care of 4 beautiful horses; I heard something encouraging, but alarming at the same. "You shall live and not die and see the salvation of the Lord." Those words literally saved my life in the early part of 2000. (It was pretty narley! It was now 2007, when I again heard those words, which stopped me in my tracks. They were an obvious warning of a possible, impending danger!. (I then forgot about it, not letting those words stress me out.) I had 2 encounters with rattle snakes; one buried in a bake of 3-way grain for the horses. Someone I knew, "just happened to drive up to talk w/me," taking care of the snake for me. Also, once while walking down a driveway with a friend. I asked, "What is this strange looking twig lying in the dirt." "Don't take another step. That's a baby rattler. They can kill you right on the spot!" They "just happened " to have a snake hook, picked it up & safely transferred it into a large. empty rubber trash. We then called the wildlife rangers. They came with that curved hook, transferring it elsewhereit,, saving 3 lives; My friend, myself & the snake. All I have to doI is think or ask our Creator about something. My answer suddenly comes through you.

Always having to look in 50 different directions to meet the needs of my boss, co-workers and customers, all while answering the phones, greeting people, and accomplishing my own tasks. At 50, I started looking for a new career, one that I could do for the remainder of my days. I began training as a massage therapist at night on my 50th birthday, then at 53, I trained to be an Traditional Naturopath. The decision to do something I loved for the rest of my life, ministering hands-on to people, was the most life changing in the best possible way. But my favorite thing to do is giving Raindrop Technique (an aromatherapy massage type technique). The level of my stress reduces, when I am teaching someone, ministering (laying hands on and anointing with essential oils) to them and walking with them on their path to wellness. I must have oxytocin levels off the chart, because THAT is my happy place!

This explains why I was able to keep going in the profession I was in for over 40 yrs. It was that rewarding feeling I always had from helping someone else feel better about themselves. I always said it was about my clients & making them look & feel good anyways. I’ve struggled with fibromyalgia since I was a little girl & I struggled standing up on my feet all day (with a smile on my face & happiness in my soul) working all those years. It was the shear pleasure of the job, the art of it, the people & the atmosphere. It was never about the money for me, that was just a perk.

This explains the lessening of civility in society in times of stress. It’s encouraging to think that it could begin to reverse if people methodically increased acts of kindness…good things can also go viral. We all can be a pebble in the pond 😊

Yes, I feel amazing when I've held the door open for someone or helped someone reach an item off the shelf or anything really. It really does give us a feel good buzz. And the lack or estrogen explains why menopausal women seem to be lacking in compassion for anything sometimes.

In other words: oxytocin is the hormone for compassion 😊 We're glad that you have a lot of it Dr Berg 😇 unfortunately for other individuals: must be their oxytocin is very low 😅 and that explains why some people feel morally responsible and it's their pleasure to help; in times of difficulty, and some don't feel that way. Thanks for the info Dr Berg 🌸

Makes sense, the hormone to help birth the baby also is at play within momma's body to care for and nurture the child. I agree some must have a steady supply of oxytocin to act in compassion and service to others.

Such a wonderful Christmas video.Sharing and caring should be a year long endeaver.After losing my beloved 12 year old dog I was really depressed.2 months later I got a 12 year old shih tzu from Maricopa County shelter.He was in great shape be except for his teeth,they were horrible ,and I knew he must have been in agony.A week later my vet extracted 9 teeth and cleaned the rest .Pain meds and antibodies,and rest,and Winston was like a new puppy.I was so happy for him that I felt euphoric,it was a tremendous surge of happiness .So yes,do some thing nice and it will be returned multi-fold .

It is so nice that you've shared this in a medical informative way! As a follower of Jesus, loving, serving and caring for your neighbor is definitely the greatest second commandment in the Scriptures, the first one is to Love the Lord your God. I hadn't realized that the Lord still had a benefit to self while helping/caring for others. Pretty cool! His Grace is just so amazing. Thank you for sharing Dr.! I'm a big fan! :D

I stumbled onto this understanding but didn't know the particulars as to why. Lost my husband a year ago yesterday. I have always been in the caregiver role to family, children, and ultimately my husband during his illness. Everything stopped to a screeching halt when he passed. I lost my balance. I didn't sense any kind of true healing and processing of my grieving until I stepped out and began looking to give others in their time of need. It has been baby steps turning to a walking stride in being sensitive to how I can serve another and still not deplete myself of meeting my needs which I have found are often met, as I have allowed others to assist me in my need. Hope that makes sense. Thank you Dr Berg for giving us the understanding of the why, what and how our bodies, emotions, environment all interact, whether positively or negatively with one another.
