I need to find a long term review of this clutch. This sounds super legit.

This is exactly the kind of concept we need in this day and age: A unified and modular system that the end user can install and service. Not just for clutches or car parts, but for everything!

I'm hugely skeptical of that adapter ring holding up to 2000nm of abuse but I'm sure I'll be proven wrong and their engineers know what they're doing. cool product

I had the same thought. Then i just happen to go look at the fly wheel on my 2jz and yeah. Got 1,010hp and 500+lbs and what 6 tiny bolts and 3 dowel pins. Yeah, i actually think if that ring is made of high grade steel and it ia actually inside the perimeter of the bolts and is held by high grade hardware as long as there is no play just might be strong enough.
@ferrumignis7 ай бұрын
Also dubious about concentricity. The ring appears to be doweled to the flywheel but not to the clutch itself.
@blow0me7 ай бұрын
@@dravindarkcloudable I'm sure if you wanted, it'd be pretty easy to bolt it to a flat flywheel too ? It's a novel idea overall. I like their multiplate design, and how they also still offer organics discs with well sprung hubs. If of course it ever appears for sale for needed fitments.
@joeyallcock10117 ай бұрын
@@dravindarkcloudable my thought is eurathane once heated to said temp of what it is rated? will become soft plyable & may reshape itself on those damper/pinch points feel unsure of long term effect from hot engine & trans heat along with its own heat from friction disc? Thoughts or answers on this please as im drivin like miss daisy so not to slip my worn out clutch ( high engagement all in first 10-15mm of pushing pedal) so believe i may well be needing a new clutch asap for my 2005 1st gen 2.4L PT CRUISER☆JoeDog+k9Buddie☆2door~PT~van☆

What as opposed to a thin metal flexplate bolted to a convertor ?

I love the concept and implementation of that extended damping range on the sprung section! Time will tell how well their intermediate/adapter plate solution for mounting holds up over time, theoretically its sound but harmonics are a ficle thing when it comes to mounting and regidity. Might have to consider this for my track car if I find my current clutch isn't holding up.

These guys were awesome to see at SEMA and worked off the ORC 559 style wire EDM center section to quick-swap for a given application. Really cool innovation with the twin-spring array and the superb damping design for smoothness. They'll be having my business after the SPEC Twin Disc is broken in, and a custom 8.5" w/ T56 Magnum is fitted for a Rotary 13B application from these boys.

I love the way they designed and presented the products😺 It's so clear for our consumers to see, and they've made it incredibly easy to install and use. Looks like a great piece of kit. I'm curious as to which car it's going in though. I'd have thought your R32 would be the obvious choice to see if it really does help alleviate or eliminate the noise, but I'd imagine you'd realistically want the race spec one for that.

Looks like a bloody brilliant idea, the company behind it is my only personal concern but that's neither here nor there.. My experience with an "experimental" clutch built and fitted by them didn't end well but that was 5-6 years ago, alot can change in that time and by the looks of it, it has.. I think I'll wait for feedback before dipping my toes in this time instead of being the one toffer feedback
@babarnett19877 ай бұрын
funny you say that, i commented on one of their instagram posts asking who the company above them was and they didnt answer haha
@darianistead22397 ай бұрын
@@babarnett1987 Yeah, plausible deniability lol. My brother inlaw was a sales rep for clutch industries so I got a free mantic twin plate they'd made and fitted for free that was claimed to be easily daily driveable, had no chatter and would handle high torque loads, I was supposed to give feedback on the clutch as a guinea pig in return.. I had a twin plate previously but it was a pull-to-push type conversion and theirs was a direct fit pull type clutch kit for EVO 4-9.. First off, when picking car up it wouldn't start (plugs fouled, run in tune and them moving in/out of shop) and then the speedo didn't work as they didn't reconnect it and the wheel nuts were left loose🤦♂️.. But that was the workshop they had do the work, not them. The clutch was good in that it had a light pedal and easy take up, no judders but still rattled just not as bad as normal twin plate. It was a fresh 2.4L bored and stroked on run in tune and handled it fine so hopes were high, then when full tuning it started slipping at 380wkw at all four, so was detuned to 360wkw and left there (dyno run is on my channel). Then, doing a 3rd gear pull BANG! clang clang ding ding dadingg... Holes in the bellhousing. Tear it down, pressure plate broke where spacers and allen keys are and they exited through gearbox bellhousing. Pull clutch assembly off and there were witness marks on the ARP flywheel bolts where centre sprung springs had been hitting and would obviously hit more with wear as the friction material was the only thing keeping the tolerance although also likely what reduced it's bite on the flywheel.. All in all, never again lol

How would this compare to another Aussie clutch XClutch? I have their twin organic disc clutch and lightened flywheel for my Honda Type R Fk8? Pedal is almost oem feel and rated to 900 ft lbs. it’s not sprung but engages very smoothly. It does jingle when the clutch pedal is pressed down but that just may be a part of what twin disc clutches.

Sounds like the dual mass flywheel is acting like a harmonic isolator. Where the trans and rotating assembly are alowed to move into phase, or never stay in a bad synchronization long enough to setup a audible trimmer/shake/ resonance.

I wonder how well those urethane pieces will hold up. That material generally doesn’t withstand high heat. In normal driving they would probably be fine but for racing applications it seems like they would deteriorate pretty quickly.

sounds like a good solution for bmw with smfw chatter.... but the torque rating is kinda low (anything n54/b58/s55 running on ethanol mixes is going to need the track version) and personally, it's a bit expensive for what it is... the street version they currently have available on their site with a new flywheel costs more than a xclutch twin plate organic which comes with a new flywheel...

How much additional flywheel weight is added, by fitting the Uniclutch assembly with its own inbuilt flywheel? Like someone else posted, that bolted on torque ring does not looks like the sort of thing a track car will eat up. No doubt theres a heap of FDA and hopefully a lot of test hours on it and we'll be wrong about it, just looks... I dunno, flimsy 🤷

The only way to keep manual cars around is to keep buying them. My first hand-me-down car was MT. I've since purchased 5 *new* cars, and 3/5 were MT. One AT car wasn't even for myself, so I got excuse for that, and I needed a specific feature on other AT car. I'm planning to pick up another new MT car within a year.

4:05 Bzzzzt - Incorrect, many dual mass flywheels actually can be milled, rather than machined by a lathe. Several workshops I've worked in on the Sunny Coast here use Maroochy Cylinder Heads to do this and my own personal Subaru Outback was done over 150k ago by them 👍
@MotiveVideo7 ай бұрын
So what you’re saying is they can’t be machined
@Danger_mouse7 ай бұрын
@@MotiveVideo depends on the semantics of 'machined', a cylinder head mill is a machine just like a brake lathe is a machine. It's more to do with the skill of shop you take it to. My point is that you don't always have to throw away a dual mass flywheel.
