As an economy/cashback player it's hard to make the Amex plunge. My goal would definitely be the Schwab cashout option but it's a very long game to play with a lot of upfront investment. Not to mention you have to have faith that by the time you're done that cashout option will still be available. I do see how this is great for aspiration travel.

Generally 6 months is fine. BCE/BCP only makes sense if you're squarely on #teamcashback. If that's true, I also wouldn't "rush" to Amex. Tons of low hanging fruit offers w/ other issuers. TONS of people get the "no bonus popup" due to low spend on the BCE/BCP they got to "get their foot in the door w/ Amex" -- make sure you have decent spend on it long-term.

PC (product changes) don't affect 5/24. Your call on what other Chase cards you want. Hyatt, IHG Premier, IHG Traveler, United Explorer, SW Priority, CIC, CIU, CIP are all lucrative / long-term cards. YMMV on burning a 5/24 slot -- this seems like a good reason though :)

I think AMEX's strategy is to have people pay the $550 upfront since the annual fee is included on the first monthly bill. I don't see countries fully opening up until late 2021. Hence you would possibly be paying $1100 by end of next year to hold the points and not even use the travel benefits 😂. I'd plan to open the once-per-lifetime points bonus later rather than "anticipating" to travel

Literally my exact thinking! I feel like I get the best value with the Plat IF I’m actually traveling. Lol The Uber credits don’t move the needle for us because we have DoorDash free with chase. Historically, haven't seen increased offers from Schwab Plat.

I have 3 trips planned for next year and have taken advantage of this 100k offer! I believe this first year will give me a lot of value. After that, I will have to re-evaluate:). This is a card that I have always wanted but couldn't really justify the $550 annual fee. I don't use uber much so I will def use it for Uber eats. I do hope that Trader Joes is on their supermarket list.

why is it that i dont see the 200$ airline incidental credit anymore when i look at the card details? I still see the 200$ uber.

The removed it from the marketing materials, but it's still mentioned in the benefit terms.
