I just discovered that if you tap the home button when displaying the scroll bar, the current time is displayed and at what time will you finish watching the movie. Pretty neat!

This video was very helpful. I did not know about charging the remote and I don't remember getting a message from the TV about my battery level. Now my remote is not responding to anything. It is too bad that you can't see if your battery is charging when you plug it in. I guess you just have to plug it in and keep checking it to see if it works. Right now my remote is not working and the white light on my Apple box does not stay on. When I unplug the power cord, it comes on for a minute and then goes out. I assume that is because my remote needs to be charged.

I believe it shows the battery level in the settings app. I’m not sure where but I’m sure google knows. I did charge my when I first got the Apple TV.

This remote absolutely sucks for controlling Spectrum TV. This video helps a little, but I look forward to next year, when I can switch back to Verizon/Frontier so I can get a much easier remote to deal with. I am a diehard Apple customer, but I HATE using this remote. HATE, HATE, HATE IT. Plus the Spectrum screens are much more confusing than Frontier. Maybe this is caused by Apple TV, but I have no way of telling.

It’s app dependant, so there’s not much we can do as users if it doesn’t work the same as for movies.

Press Siri button and say “Battery level” and the Remote battery status will be displayed. If you have Airplay Max headphones, their battery level will be displayed also.

Thanks. It’s still confusing because I am using it through spectrum and their app which is terrible. I also don’t have Apple TV itself so not that intuitive. Mostly I find it hard to navigate in shows I’ve recorded. Moving ahead and back isn’t that easy.

I just bought the Apple TV box to replace Amazon Firestick. My live TV service is Tek Savvy TV. Is there a way Apple TV remote can click back and forth from current station to last station? Handy if 2 games on live tv at the same time.

I’m not familiar with any resources of that nature. I do know you can use Siri for most basic functions like play, pause, volume and search as shown in the video. My best recommendation would be trial and error. Also remember Siri changes over time, so it will likely gain more functionality over time!

An Apple TV , for new users video would be helpful. Start at the beginning. What is diffwrent aboit Apple TV vs. A cable TV multibutton remote controlled method of seeing what is on the air vs. Only being able to use apps !

On my older remote I could press a button to play the sound through my AirPods. I still get that pop up on the screen telling me to press the button but there isn’t one anymore. Is there another option to do this on this new remote? It’s much easier/faster than having to go to settings and do it there. Thank you!

This remote won’t work with VCRs. Only the Apple TV box and some basic TV functions. It’s not a universal remote.

You got the last model. I found on facebook people scamming saying they have a apple tv4k new edition when it’s the previous model. Had to do a lot of research to choose the right one. They all look very similar.

Buttons aren't illuminated, no indicator to tell you it's charging - two huge lacks for a remote that costs this much.

There aren’t that many buttons and they all feel different, the back button is convex and the control centre button is flat. So it’s not bad in the dark once you’ve used it a few times!

After a few hours of ownership, I totally agree that these are two criticisms - can't see the keys in dimmed room; have no idea if the remote is charging while it was plugged in, or how long to keep it plugged in, otherwise it's a pretty substantial improvement over the previous Siri remote.
