@@KikiFu I'm commenting so I can hear the replies. I hear Stillman and Burns are good because the binding lays down flat and you can choose different kinds of paper. I've been eyeing the Mossery site because I like their covers, and the Twin book with reusable customized cover looks really nice. I was thinking about trying to make my own with some Arches paper I got recently, it's 12 x 16 so I could make each sheet into 4 6 x 8 pieces, and paint on both sides getting 8 pieces of art on one sheet of paper. it just helps me justify the cost a bit more.
@recoveringsoul7554 жыл бұрын
@@KikiFu What a nice comment. One of the channels that shows book binding is Sea Lemon, and also I think NerdForge. There are quite a few. Watch one and they recommend more, you know the drill. I'm not sure if S&B has actual watercolor cotton paper. There seem to be many different kinds of stitches that can be used. I've also seen videos about restoring the Sizing on watercolor paper, I think with gelatin. So maybe that can be done to non cotton paper too? Not sure but it's an idea

For those who don’t know,“Ultramarine Blue” was made with Lapis Lazuli, a gemstone.Since the color is so expensive(obviously it being a gemstone)we now use the pigment “PB29” to recreate this unique blue.Some brands have offered it(like Schmincke)but only for a limited time.Some brands just fail with this like Daniel Smith, creating a weak paint.Overall it’s a very stellar blue.

I used to work at an art store and we got a lot of Daniel Smith demos and they Lapis Feels so crumbly haha. They said that this did this 'Crystal Line where they didn't process the pigment/crystal as finely to give it a sparkly look. But it was such A misguided use of the crystal, I thought. I still have the demo paper on my desk and it looks transparent and unusable and doesn't feel like it does any justice to the stories we hear about the pigment. I think if they wanted this effect, they should have had two lines, one more traditional and one with the sparkle. For me, I would not have minded a cheap, bluish crystal for that effect, too. It ain't it, basically.

The packaging is phenomenal, can tell that the store owners are truly passionate and love what they do. All of the paints are breathtaking, especially that handmade Lapis Lazuli (making paints is the dream). I love your videos that centre around boutique businesses, they’re always so beautiful and it’s nice seeing vocal support for small businesses when a lot of hauls and the like are from Amazon and other conglomerates (this isn’t an attack as they are most easily accessible + affordable, but it’s a breath of fresh air when independents are celebrated and shared) This was a bit of a rant, but I love the format and content of your videos. Looking forward to seeing more now that you’ve graduated and have a bit more time! ✨💛✨
