The Freestyle Libre 2 continuous glucose monitor for a NON diabetic is nonsensical. Someone who is NOT a diabetic has no control over their blood glucose levels. The body controls that automatically. Your blood sugar will increase a small, small, small, amount after a meal. But quickly returns to normal via insulin provided into the blood stream via the pancreas. It is impossible to increase your blood sugar in any meaningful way by eating or drinking sugar. For performance purposes. Your body will keep a NON diabetic's blood sugar at average, below, or above average naturally. You can't change that. Whether a higher or lower blood sugar is advantageous or not, makes no difference. Because your body can't change that. If you think drinking a gallon of sugar soda or eating 10 pounds of Goo will raise your blood sugar, it won't. Your body will return your blood sugar to its natural level within minutes. A NON diabetic gains no knowledge or benefit from knowing what their blood sugar is via a continuous glucose monitor system. Its about like studying whether blonde, brunette, or redhead cyclists are faster. How would that knowledge help you? You can't change your natural hair color.

The red integrated handlesbars on the BMC is amazing. Not the first time we've seen nonblack handlebars but still what an amazing stunning upgrade. Ice Vestsm Not surprising to see them becoming very important. But sadly you can't find differences between them? Cube Bike, That livery sure does go with the team kit. Don't know if I'd say it is the coolest though. Milled Away computer mount: Hopefully they did aero testing with them. I'd assume that leaving it filled in is better for Aero instead of having a cavity for disrupt air flow which given the weight Testing, Wow did not know Glucose testing was done! Lactate testing is for sure being done I know that from watching other pro workouts so I would not be surprised if that was also being done.

So with regards to the glucose monitoring being banned, I thought it looked like Kirsten Faulkner had a glucose monitor on during Strade Bianche (I noticed a small disc on her tricep) and it did make me wonder. I assume you're allowed one if youre diabetic? I have no idea if Kirsten is or not.

Can't imagine the rationale the UCI was using to ban CGM from competition. Like remarked: They are sensors. And since they 'connect' to the most important piece of kit (human body), they may very well prevent an unfortunate event. Would be a messy situation if a rider just 'up and bonked' while in the midst of a peloton cruising at 40kph.

Easy assemblyJust a few cons but nothing major:1. Cheap tin tubes and had flat on first day... but not a big deal. I replaced the tubes.2. Seat is a bit uncomfortable but that's pretty much the same situation with most bikes.3. Seat post is a bit long/high for a smaller size 48 bike - had to saw 2 inch off to fit properly. The lowest setting is too high. The post locking system does not seem to hold well (perhaps because I saw 2 inch off).4. wheels are not tubeless compatible (from what I can tell)

Continuous Glucose Monitors should be banned in races, that's the right call. Just like power meters and heart rate monitors should also be banned along with visible computer displays.

If a competing rider is actually diabetic, can they get a TUE for the CGM? I use a CGM because I'm T1D, and it's a very useful tool when I'm out on rides.

As far as I'm aware diabetics are exempt in the rules banning CGMs

Yes, just as they can race with an AID and people without diabetes can't take insulin at all. It really is an advantage. Obviously diabetics need it. But they can always have perfect insulin levels while non-diabetics have to accept fluctuating levels throughout events. Of course, at the world tour level, they're all doping anyway🙃

We used the cooling vest offshore in the Middle East. Temp up to 50c+ you need it. The glucose monitors are the best thing ever invented. Everyone should wear one not even athletes. They could improve everyone’s health. Banned because they are so expensive.

@@gcntech the only other reason I can see to ban it is to make fuelling more of an art than a science. I just wish people could see how food affects their systems by using the sensors. Shame it’s so expensive. When will they get sensors for lactic acid, hydration?

It won't be long and we will be measuring glucose and lactate on all the riders. I'm a type 1 diabetic using the Dexcom G6 CGM. I wish my garmin 530 unit would sync up with my phone or the CGM itself and read my glucose levels right on the display so I could always watch it.

😭😂heavy discs + they are worse when it comes to aero margins opposite to rims so all the aero improvements in frames are zeroed by discs and rotor drag, and weight on long steep mountains

#Glucose Sensor: No health based sensor should ever be banned! You don't have to be diagnosed as a full fledged diabetic to have periodic glucose issues. The flip side question is: What unfair advantage was the UCI trying to avoid by banning this sensor? I personally think this was an unjustified and unhealthy ban by the UCI. Falls in the category of a woman's uterus falling out if she rides too hard and fast.

The Look 596 is one of the fastest rim brake TT bikes ever tested and it has a pretty sizeable wheel gap. The replacement bike was faster but that was probably due to the cockpit and not the frame. Also, while not the fastest out there, the new Shiv TT is very fast with a ridiculous wheel gap.

While watching this, I looked into why the Uci banned continous glucose monitors and I have to say I agree with the part of getting young riders to learn to fuel properly the traditional way, given cycling's history of many riders suffering from food issues this is a good thing........they also need to be banned from training if this is the main reason.

It's a very important point! Cycling does have a big issue with body imagery and extreme diets. The last thing we need to younger riders worrying over food, we'd much rather seem them loving racing and working to build up their skills.

But if you have constant,accurate blood glucose measurements you can tell when riders aren't eating enough and can therefore help them eat properly. If they are used sensibly, by people who understand nutrition then they should only be a force for good and help prevent unhealthy/unwise nutrition strategies.

Is that true that the DA power meter won't deliver power without a frame magnet? I run SRAM/Quark crank PMs, and it pulls cadence and power from the internal transducers. I would have expected DA products to be a bit more polished and not use what feels like a personal hack.

The DA power meter is a disaster. It's accuracy is abhorrent and there are sponsored riders using Assioma's on their cranks for accurate numbers. It's really surprising to see Shimano with a high end product with so many flaws
