Love him or hate him, Valrak has legit people who work for GW leaking info to him. He accurately described both the new Dante and Lion model months before their reveals. The only reason I watch his channel is for his "whispers from the warp".

Agree, he hits on Kill Team releases quite frequently. I know Valrak’s live streams are not for everyone but if you stick to his Monday rumour videos you get some good content.

Funnily enough it's the reason I now avoid his channel. Its clear he gets word of what's coming down the pipeline and feel it spoils it somewhat knowing 6 months in advance whats on the horizon.

I still think the new Death Company with jump packs will actually be an alternate sprue for the Jump Assault intercessors - if you look at the regular kit then the second sprue basically contains everything you would replace in order to make the kit chapter-specific - the jump packs, heads, shoulder pads, all the special weapons and the Sergeant's body are all on that one sprue. So swap that for Death Company drip and they just got a brand new unit that they can sell as it's own box, but they only needed to produce one new sprue to do it. They can also sell it for the same price as the regular jump intercessor kit. With the Brutalis I think yeah that already replaces the Furiosa, but I think we'll see a Death Company variant in the new Codex, and the general BA upgrade sprue will include parts to make the Brutalis look a bit more the part. The downside to this is we'll lose the boxnaughts including the Librarian dread.

The new Sprue method is amazing for anyone hoping to save money. After all, what is a space marine captain if not just a regular space marine with fancier bitz on his armor? Why, with just two copies of the BA Primaris Upgrade Sprue, I was able to turn a box of jump intercessors into two jump captains, and two sanguinary priests with jump packs, with a spare body to turn into something later. (Jump chaplain if I can get my hands on a nice skull helmet) We're talking Orks level of kitbashing access.

I agree that an upgrade sprue is a good approach. Will be interesting to see what bits are on it. It's an approach that should make it easy to do something for a lot of other chapters - Raven Guard, Iron Hands, etc. One good upgrade sprue and a character or two. I think the age of CAD really helps with this. It's much easier to make modular kits with compatible parts when you aren't sculpting everything by hand.

Last Xmas, i picked up the spearhead marine box as, a LOT of assault intercessors. And figured it was a good future proofing for the BA release. 😊

Assault intercessors are a great set because if you wanted to get a close combat focussed BA army off the ground they come with enough arm pairings to convert a whole other squad of regular intercessors into assault intercessors. So you could buy any other SM combat patrol or deal and have the option of converting the main squad of line troops to lean into the theme. Probably also true of the assault marines but I haven't got any of those to know. However this is totally going to be one of the boxes thats designed to sell out in 5 minutes so hard to really give it any credit. Its not like they're earnestly making it available to people.

I'm a bit worried for the upgrade sprues because I don't think the dark angels ones were very good to justify the price tag of £21. Very anemic shoulder pads that are easily replicated with cheap transfers. I would love for them to start selling a single sprues of helmets like the heresy upgrades, which change the entire look of any marine squad with very few bits. Good to see you posting again! Missed the other vid so I'll go back to watch that.

@@MyAlessandro1995 Definitely a worthwhile compromise to consider if you don't mind mixing the heresy aesthetic with modern primaris. I love getting excited for new designs though, so my fingers are crossed! Imagine 10 primaris helms with golden filigree for blood angels. Take my money! But if it's just two helmets with a blood drop, I'd probably just buy some 3d prints.

I don't know how I feel about this, the upgrade sprues are good value for money and I enjoy using them but, I also want to collect unique sculpts for the faction that have loads of unique chapter specific detailing on them

I know what you mean. Death company intercessor is only 'ok' the details added not detracted from the vibe. These have "GENERICtm" vibe. I didnt really agree with the video on the whole. Its like if you made wulfen from the assault int kit. Lose all the flavor gain generic "cleaner" look. Its in fact not good.

With GW’s terrible manufacturing problems and stockholder-first business model, I think upgrade sprues are the only hope for keeping most chapters alive. I bet the accountants want them all wiped out and just one generic SM range to be sold- less SKUs the better- so upgrade sprues are probably the closest compromise we can get to variety vs business sustainability.

The generic kits plus upgrade kit is new best option, nowadays things cost a lot to be produced, so is a good and cheap way for GW to make new chapter specific stuff, plus is a box that technically could sell to anyone that collects marines, just don’t use the upgrades or sell it with the new characters and boom you get some units for your army

Upgrade sprues would be fine, but after BT getting Sword Brethren & Crusaders and DA getting Companions and Deathwing, I would expect and indeed demand Sangers and DC to get their own unique sprues

Quite honestly....if this is the box, it will be an easy pass for me and I will need to pick the new stuff up separately. This is fine, but the JAI kit will not take upgrades very well, so this will be a bummer. Edit: Regarding SG...while I love Dante, no wings on SG is terrible though.

It all depends on the rules for the DC. The HQs suggest this is a DC box, so a lot hangs on what the Dread, aslt ints, weapons options etc are. If the squads are worth playing, it's a great box. Under current rules, it's a bit meh.

OG Sanguinary guard did seem a bit over embellished, when compared to Dante. Maybe it will be part of the upgrade kit to fit jump intercessors ? Overall, it seems difficult to believe there will be a full BA range refresh/Update, so soon after the Dark angels release?

2:38 Now I think I disagree. Now I like my upgrade sprues for sure, extra options are nice. However i do take issue with the lack of special faction kits. Because i feel it really dulls down the flavour of the army you want to play. Where because nearly all tacticus marines look identical with different gun, all the flare and character was sorta vanished from the space marine line outside of those special unit kits. 5:26 Then your asking for an inferior product you couldve always made your own is the argument, but raw sculpt wise one looks more special and purpose built than the other. Your just removing flavour.

Taking wings of sanguinary guard is like taking tabards and cloaks off sword brethren. I have a feeling alot of blood angels players will be disappointed if this is all, especially after the insulting death company intercessor fiasco.

The jump assault intercessors look cool, but I fear somewhat that it will be really easy to spot clones. Ornate Death Company loses the plot. The whole point is they just paint their old armor black and go off to die. Sanguinary guard I always thought were hideous. They have comical proportions and badly flyswatted poses.

I know they don't do this anymore but as a non-gamer I'd love a new Tycho mini to paint up.
