Rory’s reviewing style is such a breath of fresh air. He’s quick and to the point, no unnecessary bs or advertisement like Mat Watson and no forced attempts at humour. But it’s clear that he’s not trying too hard to be funny or be the next Clarkson and the brief comedy that he does use works, he’s doing his own thing and it really shows. He’s one of if not THE best car reviewers out there (in my opinion).

My wife and I have owned 18 BMW’s, we’ve had 911’s, we’ve had several Mercedes, we owned the last Gen M4 Competition - lease was up and the new M’s weren’t out so we have a filler car, the M340 and C43 AMG. We’ve toured the Mercedes, BMW and Porsche factories and museums, we regularly attend BMW driving schools - I’m intentionally trying to insinuate that we have some cred for the statement I am about to make which is... your reviews sir are the best I have ever watched. Positively wonderful, exceptionally informative, just spectacular work - thank you!

I disagree. I think the M3 looks better than the M4. People have been obsessing over the front grill, but I dont think the front is the issue. It's the side bland side profile and the uneventful rear end that doesn't match the aggressive front. I think the lines and angles of the M3 compliment the front end

honestly i think the grill looks good with the car in black. something modern yet really sporty and special. and the back of the car is a 10/10 i feel like. for me one of the best looking cars this year for sure, better than an RS5 or what I would imagine the next C63 to look like.

As the owner of a Giulia Quadrifoglio I have petitioned BMW to change the "Lung" grille on the front of the M / 3 and M / 4 because as they will always be in my rear view mirror they are making me nauseous....They said they will act on this soon....

The chief designer of the car defended the grill saying that 1 in 5 people liked it. He said that 20% of people working at BMW liked the grill So basically, 80% of people working at BMW hated it,

Rory, fantastic review. Honest, balanced and fun. Is it time to trade in my F82. Prob not, ridiculous amount of money for top spec (my f82 is top spec and I love the looks - cant say that about the new generation but not seen one in person yet!). @@ftr911drvr in Uk spec the price difference is around £2000, and it becomes RWD at a button push. I had a real think about what I wanted to actually use the car for and the reality of it was I wanted a fast super coupe that I could occaisionally kick the back out of and do silly stuff in. The AWD gives freedom and safety in the uk where it rains 3/5 days and will still let me embrace my inner child for 5 minutes when I want to. That and I want to see some Audi Rs owners cry…

They changed from dct to zf due to the fact that dct wouldn't have been optimal choice for incoming m xdrive system.

The problem is not the grill but the position of it... The top part is too high and doesn’t align with the top part of the lights. This as the effect of be perceived not as a “mouth” but as 2 giant nostrils. What a shame, perfection was just few millimetres away

I would say a manual transmission is indicated for a car of 300 horsepower or less. You can have fun and not get in much trouble. With more powerful cars like this M4, a DCT is preferable. As to the automatic, we'll have to see how that works out in the longer term. I like the new M4 but I already have an M2 and for me, that is the better option.

I think they switched to the ZF gearbox because the previous M4 with DCT people were struggling when the gear changes were to snappy mid corner and even straight, with driving aids off.
