I’ve enjoyed many of your reviews and analysis. One thing I truly dig is the “real world” points you make- like the dynamics of a song vs just lab tests etc. but as well in many of your videos the comparison and contrast of various hi fi gear under real world use. I appreciate your videos. Keep sharing the knowledge 👍

I really enjoyed parts of this video-this is exactly what I appreciate about this channel. Showcasing a new release of an affordable Hi-Fi product, covering the basic frequency response specs, along with thoughtful commentary on its design and general sound quality-this is the good stuff! More of this, please, and less of the pointless outboard reclocker talk, especially since a DAC using USB already handles that. The snake oil side of KZbin Hi-Fi can be frustrating, and I’d love to see this channel stay focused on the practical, accessible content that makes it great.

But if you can hear a difference, is it “snake oil”?
@cunawarit
@cunawarit 16 сағат бұрын
@jeffreylehman1159 Define "hear"-if you can actually hear it, you can likely confirm it’s real by meassuring it. If not, it might just be imagined. That said, I suspect the issue here is methodological. It sounds like the streamer was connected to the DAC via Toslink instead of USB. This would explain why there was an audible improvement, assuming the streamer was suffering from clocking issues.

Difference’s you can hear cannot always be measured. That is why the best hifi at any price point is designed by people with a real passion for music, not in a laboratory.

Nice Comparison, would love to hear your thoughts on the Floorstanders. I am planing to get the F5.3 vs the F6.3 on Black Friday for my medium sized Living Room. My guess is, that the F5.3 sound awesome without having too much resonance or bloated Bass like the bigger Brothers might have. Observed the same Effect in the past with Dynaudio Emit 10 vs 20 and KEF Q150 vs 350, always prefered the smaller Version, independent from Room Size. Faster Start/Stop Behaviour of the Drivers and less boxy. Greetings form Germany!

I generally like the 5.25" woofer version of a speaker more than the 6.5" for two reasons- first, the 6.5" woofers tend to be too boomy in my small room, because i have to have the speakers pretty close to the wall behind them. Otherwise, they're in the middle of the room, because that's how small my room is. Second, I find that the 5.25" woofers tend to have richer mids and tend to often blend better with the tweeter than the 6.5" ones do, but you give up a little bass. I'm not a big bass freak, so that's not important to me that much. I place more emphasis on rich lush midrange and clear crisp (but not shrill) highs, with good balance across all frequencies, and punchy dynamics across all frequencies as well. Above all, I like speakers that don't draw attention to themselves and disappear and let the music speak for itself. That goes for amps and source components too. I don't like it when they are screaming at me -"Listen to me, I'm SO Hi-Fi!" I prefer components and speakers that say to me - "I'm not even here, listen to the music".

If you were playing them at the same volume it would make sense that the smaller speaker would sound better. I’ve noticed that my speakers open up, and become more revealing at higher volumes. I often keep raising the volume to hear the different instruments in better clarity. So, I think what you observed makes sense.

Not even comparable at all! If you want bass and SPL and dynamic capability get one of the lintons. If you don't care about those things and are gonna keep the volume lower then maybe you can get away with the Elacs, but at least get the 6.5" version. The lintons and super lintons are some REAL speakers bro. The Elacs are "great small speakers for the price"... The lintons are just objectively good and serious speakers period. @stephenhall3515
@stephenhall3515 15 сағат бұрын
The bigger one seeming to have a weaker top end is similar to with other brands having such close siblings. One cause is lack of recovery time on larger diameter speakers therefore, certainly for classical orchestral music, Randy's caveat re a subwoofer applies. A quite modest sub gives less to the large diameter speaker to have to handle and it can improve spatiality and overall imaging. If people already have a sub then the smaller unit will have airier and more natural sound. If living space in an apartment is important and a sub would be cumbersome the go for the bigger ones ones but, in both cases, use EQ, preferably a physical one and not a software type as the latter invariably flavor the sound excessively.

i used to collect speakers from televisions until i reached 200. then i gave to a homeless the 170 worst sounding drivers. from the remaining 30 good ones, there is a couple of small drivers that just delivers REALITY of natural sound. then i spent lot of money buying speakers that are supposed to be good, like B&W, added some ribbon tweeters, some tang band, panasonic eastech subwoofers a dozen of drivers that sounds ok....BUT adding those TV speakers found in the trash out of two hundred! adds the clarity that gives the impression that the recording is real, especially human voice, seems to be in my room.

Well, the choice is yours. Either you can unsubscribe and say so long or you can figure that not even the best in the MLB bats 1000. Is Randy the absolute truth? No. Nobody is. But should he be condemned? Nah.

Simply I can not trust in any word - and this is real problem for me, as I need to choose exactly between both elacs from this video. Normally, Input from this channel would be very valuable. Currently - it is not, in any way. Also after false statements regarding bt, and statements like air play present in wiims.

I wish they would offer some other colors. Also never understood why they never did with the previous version. Great sounding speakers but ugly as hell. They should really offer kind of brown or even white like they do with the reference DBRs.

Great review and perspective on these speakers. Being a short man, bigger is better, for me. 😂. Thanks for this content and sharing this with us all.

Why is it that everytime I start one of your video, I have this horrible robotic auto-translate voice ? I don't have this with any other english youtube channels that I'm watching.
