It is a very different style with independent suspension for sure. As the New Bronco rolls out and hits the trail you will notice that it, along with the 4Runner, share similar attributes and “stiffness”. However, you will find all 3 of these vehicles successfully attempt obstacles that most owners will never even try. Our new build will have additional downtravel and we’re hoping to have it done this month👍

Wish there was a way to lift it this high but maintain the suspension travel it has in normal mode. Once you lift it with the Johnson rods and then go in to offroad height there is no articulation and you find yourself lifting wheels if you cross a speedbump diagonally. Love it but really wish they would have given it a solid rear axle. Amazing rig regardless. This definitely restores my interest but I think I'm going to wait for the ineos grenadier.

You will need to tilt the front coolers and trim the front inner fenders depending on tire choice. An 11.5” wide requires very little. A 12.5” wide requires more. The 4” subframe lift is probably the best setup and then if you still want a little boost you could add 1”, 1.5”, or 2” lift rods. The lift rods limit down travel so I would select the smallest you need or none at all. We will most likely be going to the larger kiddy with 37’s on our next build. The lift is very straight forward to install and takes about a day with proper tools and a lift. Figure two days of doing yourself and in a garage with no lift.

In my humble opinion they have completely missed the point at LR. When you are in the bush, hundreds of kilometers away from civilization, the last thing you want is a sensor that fails or an air suspension malfunctioning. Like the previous Defender this one should have been a straight forward vehicle and a good basis for modifications. The new Defender is far from that. Because the vehicle is loaded with electronics, they had to us automatic gearbox, which again. Is complicated, loaded with electronics and in case of failure you need an expert with fully tooled workshop to repair it, something no available in the desert or the jungles of Africa. In fact, this is a very sophisticated and capable SUV but not an expedition vehicle.

I eish i could lift mine like that but nobody lifts Defenders out where I am at. My stock height is 255/60r20 which is like 33/10.50 r20. I want to do 265/65r20 and that would make it 34 inches but I don't think I could do even that because the stock wheel looks like it barely fits in there already.

Airride and independent suspension is a different experience vs our solid axle Jeeps. The Defender takes everything in stride an tackles trails 95% will never attempt. Where it really shines is the capability Offroad, plus 8200 lb tow capacity and unmatched ride comfort and luxury on road🤣

@cotrails8356

Interesting question… it exceeds the old defender in every category with the exception of having independent suspension/ articulation. We’re running these New Defenders on trails that 90%+ will never even consider attempting. With 8200 lb tow capacity, an exceptional powertrain for performance, a perfect size inside and out. It checks so many boxes for us and we wheel our Jeeps and 4Runner as well… I have 25k+ seat time in New Defender currently. New videos from Moab in edit and out soon…
