Diegetic means interspersed throughout the game or a movie. I like that we can make our own background for our inquisitor through the tarot cards, it gives us more playability outcomes that we may not have had or wanted when we actually played the other games.

Just started watching. I just hope they let us romance inquisitor too, cuz at least inquisitor can be customized. And on top of that fem Inquisitor has cool voice and she's a badass. No one can beat that lady 😎

What I really wish they do is bring back the interactions companions had with each other in Dragon Age 2. For those who do not remember, there were quite a few brief cut scenes when you visit a companion in their place of work/residence that showed interactions with other companions. For example, Varric was lobbying Aveline to go easy on his business ventures, Isabella was having a friendly chat with quite a few members of the group (her exchanges with Aveline were always hilarious), and so on. Moreover, if you have Varric and other party members out in the world long enough, Varric reveals through party banter how he is taking care of virtually everyone. Examples include bribing the city guard to overlook Fenris hunting slavers indiscriminately, getting Merrill out of trouble for trespassing on the viscount's estate, or making sure Anders is not discovered by the templars. Most of these interactions were not romantic in nature, but they added so much to the overall atmosphere. Dragon Age 2 is one of the few games where you get the feeling that your companions are actual people, leading separate lives, and having interactions with each other. Yet, as great as the characters in Origins and Inquisition are, you cannot escape the impression that they revolve mostly about the main character, and not much else. It is better in Inquisition than in Origins, for sure, but Dragon Age 2 remains the best in that aspect, and I hope they bring some of that in Veilguard. And of course, something similar can be found in Mass Effect 3, where crewmates sometimes hang with each other, but not all of them, and not to the level of Dragon Age 2, in my opinion. I guess the other recent game where I have seen NPCs act like real people is Cyberpunk 2077, which has the most realistic texting I have seen in a video game. Judy texting while going out with friends and being tipsy - priceless :)

You are talking about warm weather in Sweden. Here in California, it is hot like heck. Our air conditioner can barely keep up. And yes! Read Tevinter Nights, it's very good and introduces you to a lot of new lore we didn't know before. Ancient elven stuff, a bit of Grey Warden stuff, etc. P.S. Now I am thinking about a romance with a skeleton. 👀 Shoot, it sounds like necrophilia. Nope, don't want that.

One thing that if not in da4 then in next da game should probably get addressed is imo the world knowledge. I mean we know nothing what’s beyond korcari wilds, what’s beyond the western approach (not imposing the globe, but eventually in fantasy world there’s an end to a land) and where did kunari came from. What if another race exists somewhere far away, what if dwarwen taigs exist somewhere else. If you can teleport via magic or use a flying creature - why not being curious?)

I like it when companions interact with each other, especially ME3 or DA2 style. And I especially like that in DA2 there is no camp, and so every companion has their own place, that don't just stay all together in one place like in cheap hostel (blessings of being in one location). I think it is safe to say that's where Bioware RPGs are the best, since even BG2, companions are interacting with each other outside of relationship with you (have their preferences, have romances, BG2 was so innovative in this way and defined Bioware a lot, like companions wouldn't join, the would be escalations of conflicts and fights to the death, literally, and ME3 is close to perfect this way - it still would be cool with even more ....interactions, I'd say some mission-bonding for specific companions/conditions met). As far as I understand, they are going full companions first / story first (not sure about narrative and it being driven by a player) type of game. If so, I wish for them to go full Bioware RPG in this, improving on ME3/DA2. Not trying to hot take or stir things, but if you're doing a relationship sim in a fantasy setting with serviceable action-based combat, do it full force, no exceptions or cuts, and yes go hard with romances and intimacy scenes and drama and all that (and just add "nudity off/tame romance" option) The part you said about BG3 and companions. BG3 is an outstanding game for sure, but it doesn't have a complex relationship system between(!) companions, outside of relationship with you as main character (origin or custom), and I would say that's almost a big minus (still not a huge minus, but not that there are not enough pluses). It is a progression from DOS2, when companions almost didn't have a relationship with each other, but it still pales in comparison to ME3 or DA2. They compensate it with other things, like the decision to make pansexual companions will define RPGs, there is no going back lmao. And the whole origin character system and intertwining companions with main plot so much they are effectively main characters in comparison to you, is fascinating to me. It is an outstanding design for sure. Like Lae'zel or Shadowheart are legit main characters of the game for first two acts, if you play as Wyll as origin - he is THE main character, if you play as Durge ... lol. BUT still, they are sort of separate entities, in a way, outside of some conflicts and some interactions. For instance, why Karlach talks to you about Wyll, and how he is a decent dude and whatnot, why don't we have the scene where they discuss early game conflict and maybe bond over it as friends/romantic partners, while I'm just an observer. Or why Minsc recaps his arm-wrestling with Halsin, or his awkward interactions with Gale, to me, with words? What happened to show don't tell, right? Again, I think it is fair criticism, for me, it is better than any DA game, Origins included. However, I don't wish for new DA to be like BG3 in terms of companion interactions at all, because Bioware knows and always did it better in a first place (except for Andromeda I would say, but even in Andromeda...). I am yet to play an RPG that has 2 separate mechanics - friendship and romance, with each meter being affected separately. DA2 sort of had it, in some scuffed way, that was still way better than any other system in any other RPG, but I wish someone took note and improved instead of doing 1 approval meter over and over again. P.S. My first romance in RPG was Jaheira in BG2, and looking back it was weird, because she is like a grieving widow older woman, even at the time, and both in the game and irl I'm like 20years younger (in the game you're early 20s, and irl I was 15 I think). And she is like trauma dumping and asking for help and whatnot, it was very complicated mind-fk

I hope you can be mean to your companions. I really like the thought that you can be close to some companions and not others because that is how real relationships are. I know a lot of people enjoyed punching Solas, I hope that continues in this game, and we canget a real rivalry going.

There are two (possibly four as I haven't played Starfield or BG3 yet) games that do the "player-sexual" thing in two different ways. Fallout IV, and Dragon Age II. The former does the "player can romance whoever" thing more egregiously, since so long as you are strategic about it, you can technically boink EVERYBODY AT ONCE regardless of your own in-game rp morality. DAII, there are six romancable companions counting the two DLC companions, but some express interest in each other rather than you, and imply to have relations with each other. And Sebastian is obviously straight, as only Fem Hawke can romance him and if not he catches feelings for Bethany, in the same way Merrill and Carver can express interest in each other, as can Isabella and Fenris. DAII is often the poster child for "player sexual" companions, despite all that, and having at least one locked companion. I think, therefore, what is meant is not "player-focused-sexual," but that "there are no sexuality barriers when it comes to who you can romance." Which is lazy either way, and in terms of gameplay remains a "distinction without a difference."

Agree, as much as I liked BG3, I felt the romances were a forgone conclusion of picking the correct dialog options. For instance, if your main character is a male Dragonborn, his romance options to romance Gale, a human, is the same as a human female. I would think it would be a little more difficult lol.

To the guy or gal who gifted me a membership, thank you I was at work so I missed this stream, I don't know about a character creator demo, I mean that would be amazing but knowing new Bioware and how bad Frostbite is managing systems that are not FPS I think we're not gonna get that demo, a video showing it and that's it is my guess.

Not sure if i will play male or female. I am myself a girl, but i prefer to watch the back of a male character when gaming 😂 so i may romance lucanis or davren as a lady... or neve or harding as a dude. Lets see how their personalities go. In inquisition i always ended up with Dorian, 😂 he is impossible to not romance.

no DA game has forced romanced. Dialogue options always make it abundantly clear which is romance response.

Bisexuality tends to divide people into the female/male groups, while pansexuality does not really make this distinction and so it includes also people that do not consider themselves fitting in either gender. The difference overall might seem irrelevant to people but there is one. I personally can feel attraction to both feminine and masculine types, but don't feel anything at all when it comes to people who act or look somewhere in between.

Statistically, both make up around 2% of the population, unless it is a video game in which for some reason it is becoming 100%. Instead of writing complex romance options with multiple variations, like Dragon Age Inquisition, they dumb it down.

As a fan of Dragon Age IP, I fear that a game made for everyone will make no one happy. Turning everyone bisexual is not only nonsensical, but it removes the complexity of what other Dragon Age romances had. Also, what is wrong with traditional Bromances in which people of the same sex become closer than real-life brothers and sisters without having to have sex? BG3 did this and it worked for them, but Ubisoft/Dragon Age had a chance to do something better than BG3 and failed.

Sorry BG3 romance doesn't work at all. All compainions where only horny, from what i have seen. Also Bioware have said they have more than only spicey romances. So wait and see. Josephine was really good for many. Maybe their is something similar for a male/male romance. They have said they want to do an ace romance, but better don't do it than do it in a bad way. So maybe in the next game. Very funny saying turning everyone bisexual and than praising BG3. Which have only bisexual romances.

@@sayurioffenborn4960 I said it worked for BG3, I wasn't really praising them. Every romance was the same, regardless of sex or race, which logically doesn't make sense. However, D&D is an uber-fantasy world with lots of races so okay I guess. But why isn't there more half-dwarf half-dragonborn? My point is I hope Ubisoft puts more effort into more realistic romances than BG3, but making everyone bisexual isn't a good start for complexity.
