Yes, the absolute BEAUTY of the LADIES -- particularly their VOICES!!! LFR, have you checked out Pink Floyd's "The Great Gig in the Sky"? Originally on "The Dark Side of the Moon" album (studio version) as well as the Pulse concert (live version). BOTH ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR THE FEMALE VOCALISTS' performances: Clare Torry the soloist on "Dark Side" studio version and a trio of wonderful ladies -- Sam Brown sings 1st, next is Durga McBroom, and Claudia Fontaine is 3rd -- perform in the Pulse live version.

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

You should really read the lyrics to this. It’s one of their best, lyrically, imo. Talking about people turning away from the horrors of the world because it’s happening to someone else or somewhere else. No more turning away from the coldness inside. Very deep and still very true today.

These old guys did one thing that young artist don't: Rehearse. You don't need auto tune when you practice. You don't need a machine to play the instrument when you practice. You don't need a producer to make it better in post recording, when you practice. Music is work. It's not all fame and adulation.

At 9:49 the backing vocalist Machan Taylor just perfectly nails it and gives any listener heavenly goosebumps. I am mesmerized by the beauty and voice of Rachel Fury but what Machan achieves here makes me forget the rest of the band altogether for a few seconds. Interestingly she has her own channel. By the way, I love how you smile as though you had won the lottery! Very nice and communicative.

ZEPPELIN IS REMARKABLE in their own right and are genuine ROCKERS, FLOYD however I have always seen them as not rockers, BUT AS MODERN CLASSICAL COMPOSERS. Their music has the slow soft vibe or classical music and the UPBEAT Hard feeling of the classical music that then goes back soft. PINK FLOYD IS JUST ON A DIFFERENT LEVEL than MOST BANDS, ELO is also such a band.

Youll never get to play so big and loud anywhere. You love the sound! And the people that come to listen. I liked playing in front of people but i loved playing for me and the chemistry of the band.more than anything else. I played for the love of playing . Thank you Van.. another great review of a band who is 2nd to none and a great song that encourages us all to care for the less fortunate.. to scream at the top of our lungs at those who would minimize the hardships they endure.. so that those in power hear our cries and theirs.. btw this is my favorite song from Momentary Lapse of Reason.. oh and Van.. keep on lovin Zep.. on their own merit.. a great iconic band.. Pink Floyd on theirs.. Rush.. CCR. The Doobie Brothers and so on and on.. No need for debates on who is better.. musicianship, voices, lyrics, arrangements showmanship.. so many great ones..Neil Peart and Bono both amazing.. Jimmy Page and David Gilmour. Both at a virtuoso level.. you get the point.. why must we pick a fav.. lol besides.. there is no debate.. Neil "The Professor" Peart is the absolute best ever.. .. and Pink Floyd or Rush are way different than Zep.. like comparing a VW bug to a Dodge Challenger..

Saw the division bell concert. Really awsome. Definitely recommend seeing them live if given the chance.

Very well said. And I'm certain other musicians have attended pink floyd concerts.

Check out RUN LIKE HELL and also SORROW, both live from the Pulse Concert (1994). The extended guitar solo and the spectacular light show combine for an unforgettable performance.

Greatest band ever for me. Touches your soul and takes you to another plane. Not many other bands can do that. I enjoy your content my man.

you are spot on! The wonderful women voices are so bloody good on this track! This is easily Pink Floyd's most underrated song of all time, indeed!
