The new weapons are cool, but it just feels so weird when there's weapons that have existed in Halo for years that were removed never to be seen again. Like the fact there's no Plasma Rifle, OG Shotgun, Bruteshot, Carbien. The list goes on. And when 343 use the excuse of "oh well [other weapon] filled a similar role so we scrapped it to introduce this new weapon. Why? This isn't Halo 4 on Xbox 360 where hardware limitations could be a somewhat reasonable excuse.

@ the spiker is the brute smg from H3, it had a model and stuff without textures already in infinite, can’t remember if it had animations but it’s criminal to not have the spiker in a game about the brutes and banished… and the lacerator is a brute handheld lmg they were working on awhile ago it was getting updates in the files and then they just stopped working on it, basically a brute SAW and i was really hyped to see it so I’m upset we may never see it!

Random and off topic, the Banished map from campaign that you were playing on, you can play it in firefight, has an entire upper floor that's complete. Go into forge, and just fly up. Eventually you'll get in there. It's 100% complete. No weapon or spawns, but the map is there. Hopefully that throw that into firefight or something so we have a little more content

the ma5k! it showed up in ghosts of onyx, one of the halo books I've read and was used by the spartan 3s (not noble team). it was cut down for cost reasons. the only thing other than I remember is that it tended to fire in bursts more but its fun to see it in an actual game! Your Aim is impeccable and makes this thing look great, hopefully I can use it with a similar amount of efficacy after over a year of not playing the game.

As far as having the DMR and MA5K available eventually when the servers for Infinite go down, maybe they can overhaul the campaign and add those two weapons in and give them to some of the different types of Marines already present. Say for instance your default AR marines that spawn in, every other one can have an MA5K, and the those other marines that typically spawn in using Commandos, every other one of those guys can spawn in with DMRs instead.

Inital thoughts: It reminds me of the CE Assault Rifle. 60 Bullets, shreds at close range but takes longer to kill at longer ranges, fast melee. I feel the weapon Bloom can be a little bit slower so it's more like 5 bullets to get to max bloom and not 3. Using it to descope snipers is nice but it's not going to do much against a budget DMR or rapid DMR which can no scope quite effectively. I feel like against most other guns it'll be nice to have if you can close the distance, sort of a replacement or backup in case you can't get the shotgun. If only 343 had the sense to put in vehicle weakspots like in Halo 3 and Halo reach. You could make the SMG shred the weakspots in like half a clip and get it to that countdown explosion stage but since none of this will ever happen it's not going to be picked up a lot in maps where vehicles are present. It's going to be a close quarters sweeping rooms weapon where you and your friend can walk in with 2 of them and make a deadly opening for an ally But I left Halo Finite behind long ago. I'm an MCC player so my opinion doesn't count too much. Take my analysis as you wish

Honestly though go back and look at the SMG and the Silenced SMG from Halo 3/ODST they both have the same reload animations. It's a variant of the assault rifle the same way the silenced SMG is a variant of the SMG. It makes sense to have the same reload animation. Anyone who has played modded MCC understands this. Plus animations even in modding standards is hard to come by. If the gun was completely different then I would be more bummed out by the animation but I consider the new weapon a win.

Much as I would have liked an M7 or M20 SMG from earlier games I'm glad the MA5K is kind of doing its own thing and standing on its own. It's not quite the old SMGs, it's not quite the MA5B from Combat Evolved, it's something in between that seems to borrow a lot of favorable traits from all of them. Crazy to me how many firsts we're getting this late into the game and when it's fallen off this much. I can't believe they only gave IGN (and presumably other journalists) updates early before. Giving content creators content early is such an easy way to boost interest within the community. Hopefully these are at least lessons learned for the future of Halo.

Mint, you talk about de-scoping in infinite like it is a game mechanic that actually does something. I live in remote west coast US and play with my boys on the east coast all the time. I get about 90ms lag on east coast servers. The fraction of times I die from a long distance headshot when they should be de-scoped is staggering.
