I'm not sure I agree with that. A long pole in grass definitely will put a lot of load on it but I've thermally overloaded plenty of ESCs just doing back-to-back jumping including this one. I a massive fan of the XT90 anti sparking connectors far cheaper than EC5/IC5 official connectors. While yes the IC5 is higher current by being a bigger bullet, sparking does degrade the connector. I have no proof but I’d wager a xt90 anti sparking connector probably had better ampacity after 500 or so cycles since the connectors don’t have the arcing damage. That being said I definitely intend on integrating some QS8 connectors into my fleet. I’m not sure what I was thinking soldering xt90 to a max5 g2
@DoRC2 ай бұрын
Yeah that's one of the main reasons I use XT90 and QC8. I love the anti-Spark.
@AsurasWrath1642 ай бұрын
Xt90 should suffice for most max5 uses. The higher the voltage the lower the amps. A friend of mine had one the 1st gen castle xlx esc, these large green aluminium bricks, and used deans t-plug on 8s. No problem at all!
@DoRC2 ай бұрын
@AsurasWrath164 That's not quite true. Most higher voltage ESCs are also higher current and are usually paired with motors that can draw higher current.
@dylanwhite65392 ай бұрын
@@DoRC I’ve seen much debate about it. I’m using mine in an xrt. They do get warm but not terribly hot. It’s mostly a pain in the ass to fit the wire and I’m not terribly satisfied with the solder joint. I also want to solder some taps for 4s fans anyway. Also zeee just recently started selling their 10K 4s packs with QS8 anti spark connectors so that’ll save me some work soldering. When my older set of 9Ks retire I’ll put my current 10k with xt90 on my Xmaxx which still uses a stock esc and upgrade the max5 to QS8. I still want to maintain cross compatibility with the Xmaxx and xrt so the Xmaxx will eventually get QS8 as well. Likely still with the vxl 8s

@DoRC2 ай бұрын
This could just be a function of the way the system works. The hobbywing ESCs will engage breaking the first time you hit reverse and then you have to release and hit reverse again to go backwards. If you're sitting still basically this means you have to double click and hold reverse. If you're not used to it it can kind of feel like it's happening at random.
