Here goes, I've been thrifting for 54 years. We saw items especially furniture from the 1700's, but purchased things in our newlywed budget, they would now be considered antiques. My favorite piece was a oak armoire, which we refinished, it was painted with black airplane paint!! After trying every stripper available we resorted to a sandblaster. I still have the piece, quarter sawn oak and basket weave oak. Oh my.

I have an old card catalog similar to the one you found. I use it as a coffee table. It's one of my favorite pieces in my home, since I was a school librarian while these were still in use.

I’m a big fan of thrifting also. Thrift stores, antique shops and Habitat for Humanity are my favorite places to go for the best deals. My home is mostly furnished with antiques found this way. I love the newel post and the curtain tie backs are my favorite!

Don’t even get me started on the things I’ve found thrifting. And to be honest, you were one of my inspirations for doing so! The list is too long to share but between flipping things and keeping several for my own home, including things to wear, I think thrifting is the only way to go! You figure if something has stood the test of time and it still looks good enough to catch your eye - it is quality made. Also, and I hate to sound cheesy, but loved your ThredUp plug. I know you’ve plugged them before but telling us about that new search feature … GAME CHANGER. We are headed to Italy in Nov and I will definitely be using ThredUp for helping me with my packing list.

Love the antique furniture shopping ! Coming from The Netherlands but have lived for over 50 years in Canada, I have my house done with antiques and it’s so good to know that magazines are introducing antique furniture again !! I paid $20 for a 32 inch heavy brass tray table. It was given to the owners uncle in 1958 when he worked in India for several years. It was a few houses down the street at her garage sale in front of. I immediately pulled over and bought it. My sister has an ice box that’s 5 feet tall. It was used in a grocery store. You put the ice in the door on the back. Priceless!

Love this. As a Middle Tennessee gal myself, I can’t help wondering what shops the antique stores are! Not a thrift find, but my favorite antique find is an old school bench we found at a store in Wisconsin. Even when we had a designer over, she said that was her favorite piece in our house. I love your thrift shopping videos. When we lived in Germany, I got the most gorgeous hutch for my dining room. The couple I bought it from used to go to France regularly , which was very close to us, and get antique furniture. The white-washed hutch includes beautiful, hand-carved wheat sheaves on the top cabinetry and medallions on the lower cabinets. It is stunning and a total steal at only $150!

I purchased a 100-yr old gooseneck rocker in excellent condition at an estate sale for $50 approx 20 yrs ago. I’ve since reupholstered the rocker & it looks great!

Love your channel. I love to thrift. The best thing i found thrifting was a glass hand blown vase. I noted it was signed when i got home. I looked up the artist and found that it was worth around $300 dollars, and I paid $2.50!!!

The best free find, an old public swimming pool locker. It has shelves with divider and baskets. On top of the baskets is a metal tab with a hole in it that you align with the metal piece above and use your own lock to store your items while swimming. It has 24 baskets and was headed for the dump!

When I lived in my old house, I was lucky that though it was brought up to have modern convinces. The original doors and hardware were original. So I had 3 and 2 panel original wood doors with Crystal doorknobs, door from inner door, brass Yale lock set. Outside glass door again an old school brass set. I loved all of them and when I would see the prices in Rejuvention who does specialize in era home hardware. I was glad I didn’t have to purchase to authenticate. I hope the banister post works for you, what a beauty.

I once found a Le Creuset Navy Cousances Oval Cocotte ( Dutch oven) with lid for $14!!!! A brand new one on the Le Creuset website is $390.00. Whoever priced that Dutch oven didn’t know how much they were actually selling for. I have had it for over 5 years and use it regularly. After using it, I understand how sought after this brand is!! It is wonderful!!! I’ve never found a deal like this anywhere else, so I guess it was meant to be!!! 💕💕💕

I got a full lead light door from a salvage place and it has the first letter of our last name on it. We are building a new modern home and have included this older piece as a front door along with a set of antique French doors on the other side. One door was half off at $600 aus and the other just $100 aus.

My favorite thrift find is coffee and end tables that I found over 15 years ago. They are glass, marble, and wrought iron. I had already ordered some new ones which I cancelled before they were delivered. I liked the thrifted ones so much. better.
