Smart Fabric is awesome. Loved your comparative demo with the water. That stuff is the real deal. But it does have a strong odor. I actually wear a respirator when coating interior fabrics (carpet, seats). Fortunately it dissipates after a few hours.

First of all, that interior color works real good with the Dravit Grey... BANGIN!! I use POL a lot, but my sense of smell is gone, LOL. The Blue Bottle line is less industrial, with better fragrance. The Cockpit Care, and Multi Interior Cleaner work very well, but aren't as cost effective I guess. Been meaning to ask you... Do you use GreenStar? I'm changing up my wash routine, and foaming GreenStar on as a prewash. I'm wondering if you have used MultiStar ever, as it's only available in a 5L, which is a big commitment.
@FineDetailingAZ
@FineDetailingAZ Ай бұрын
Thanks Walter! I spec'd the interior and I'm loving it. I will have to try the blue bottle line of pol star to check the scent. I love it because you can dilute it and it's so cheap and will last forever. I don't use green star as a pre wash but could be a good option but also probably not needed that often. It's a pH of 12.5 and MSN is a 13.1. I'm just not sure anything that aggressive is needed. Even with salty roads i bet active foam could do the job at 9.5 pH. That said GS is super cheap and you can dilute it. It would be cool if you mixed it then foamed it in a bucket then checked the pH to see if it dropped. My reasoning behind trying to avoid super high pH is not so much about the ceramic coatings but more so the rubber seals and plastics. I feel like they will dry out much sooner. If you use it in a pump sprayer and just spray your lowers that could be your best bet.

@ I have to get a ph tester. I used it at 20:1 in an IK foamer. Side panels only, rinsed it off, then did a rinseless wash on the entire car. Any way I can avoid setting up the pressure washer, lol

@ you’ve tried Primus, thoughts compared to Active Foam?
@FineDetailingAZ
@FineDetailingAZ Ай бұрын
@ love them both…just used AF today. That said primus is VDA certified so we know it’s safe on plastics whereas AF may not be. The other thing is I notice primus dwells longer. AF scent is awesome though. As I type this I’m realizing I’d give the edge to primus.

Great job Ryan! Thanks for reminding me about the Curveball brush. I always forget to use it and it makes for much faster work than the smaller brushes. I got Geist Repel that I’m anxious to try. Looks like Nasiol Trimcoat is a solid option. With its darkening effect I’d assume it’d work well on older, faded plastics. I’m looking forward to the release of Colourlock/KCx Allround Textile Sealant. Saw it at Sema and it actually smells good compared to most of the fabric guards having that strong smell as you mentioned with the Gtechniq. The interior color on the X5 looks great and the diamond stitching is fantastic. Great new car video series!

I learned things. Do you think the specialty ceramics are really that different? If I have some leftover normal ceramic, why not just use that.
@FineDetailingAZ
@FineDetailingAZ Ай бұрын
@@michaelhalstead64 glad it was helpful! Are you referring to the trim coat? Why not use regular ceramic on the trim vs speciality? If so, that’s a good point most normal ceramic is good to use on plastic but the trim coat is designed specifically for plastic vs an all around like a regular ceramic. I view this the same as regular ceramic on glass… it will work but wasn’t designed just for glass so might not last as long vs a dedicated glass coating that was designed for that sub straight. The last thing is I’m not sure how exterior ceramic would look on interior plastic but you could do a test spot to see how it looks. Since the Nasiol mentioned it’s okay to use on interior I felt safe doing so.
@michaelhalstead64
@michaelhalstead64 Ай бұрын
@ yep, that’s what I was referring to. Makes sense. I might test it on some spots. I figured no harm in the engine bay. Maybe the heat will be an issue. I’ve only used one interior ceramic and one glass ceramic and sometimes I feel like it’s just a rebottled version of the normal. If that makes sense. Thanks!
@FineDetailingAZ
@FineDetailingAZ Ай бұрын
@ fair enough! A really good glass coating that is actually a different chemical is ADS V2. Interior I’m not so worried about your just want a layer to protect you from a scuff so I’m betting a regular ceramic could work
