The main issue I have with Marvel's powerhouse is its inconsistency. A character is only as powerful as the writer wants him to be. The Living Tribunal for instance will lose his place as the second man after TOAA simply because a writer wanted Nightmare to seem more powerful in a story arch. Really filled with inconsistencies it's hard to place or follow.

I’ve always considered it to be a case of either output over quantity, or skill over power. For the first, if both you and I have an infinite quantity of water, but you have a garden hose, and I have a water cannon, I’m going to be able to output a lot more than you are per minute even though we’ve both got unlimited power at our disposal. For the second, if we both have unbreakable, unimpeachable, perfect swords than can cut through anything, block anything, and kill anything (apart from a sword of equal quality), but I barely even know how to hold it, and you’re a master warrior, you’re going to win every time, even though the powers we hold are both peerless.

I always thought of the limitless thing as : Person 1 has limitless powers. But they're able to produce only x amount of power in a single feat of power --> they can continue doing so endlessly, and always at the same strength Person 2: has limitless powers, but their acts of power are x+1. A single attack of a feat of somekind has more power in it. Basically, limitless USAGE of power, but a hard cap on how much to use at once.

About power being “more” limitless. It reminds me of something Neil Degrasse-Tyson (the astrophysicist) was talking about as to how in mathematics some Infinities (or infinite functions/equations are greater or larger than others). So it does kinda work saying it they way you did Rob.

Yeah there are insane feats from other versions of the pheonix and white pheonix is millions of times stronger. And although a host can die, the pheonix can easily just continue to bring them back, the pheonix force itself can never die.

Some infinities are greater than others. Say you have a one-inch segment, you could divide that into infinite segments only one inch long. You can also have a ruler with infinite inches. That's an example of how one infinity can be larger than the other.

The smallest unit of measure in our Universe is the Planck length, which is 1.616e-35. The amount of Planck lengths in an inch is 1.588e+33. Fun Fact- They're more planck lengths in the circumference of a grain of sand then grains it would take to fill the circumference of the observable universe.

The Phoenix Force is second to TOAA so we KNOW it’s place at the top of these cosmic lists. However, Rob is strictly going off of comic feats, and since the biggest feat Jean has done as WPotC is breakdown and rebuild a universe atom by atom, he’s placing it lower than other “bigger/multiversal” feats. So I respect his list in THAT aspect. But if we’re going off paper then we know WPotC should be #1 on the list (since TOAA isn’t included).

A good example of this would be that there are infinite real numbers between 1 and 2 i.e 1.1 1.0004 1.2093928383 so on and so forth. There are an infinite amount of numbers there but its not all number.

You can crush, tear, bend, break, undo, reverse, erase, smash, whatever you can think of really to TOAA with nothing but a mere pencil, but with all his infinite might he will never be able to harm you. That difference I described is effectively the same in the abstract/cosmic hierarchies.

I think the limitation on power levels in the marvel universes are based on will, or intent, but ultimately the understanding and comprehension that a being or a power thought to do something and used their power in order to accomplish something specific.

Imma geek out here: In discussing limitless powers, and MORE limitless powers we can show it's perfect parallel with the fact that there are an infinite number of different size infinities. Between 1 and 2 there are an infinite number of decimal points, between 1 and 3 there are TWICE AS MANY decimal points, double the size of the initial infinity. Between 1 and 11 is an infinity 10x the size of our initial infinity.

@Sachintha Fernando lol no. Only thing he said about wanna as far as i know is that, she is a Nexus being affecting her universe. Nexus being don't have multiveral powers. Then all of them would be multiversal powerhouses. Jean Grey is an Nexus being, and I'm not even talking about Phoenix. As Phoenix, she affects the omniverse. As a Nexus being and as a Omega level mutant, Jean is far superior to Wanda, but i don't call her multiversal, not without Phoenix at least.

@Sachintha Fernando you do that's all a bs storyline, just like any writer can come up and say anything. If by your logic, squirrel girl is the God of comics. She can destroy any multiverse, dc or marvel at will. That Jean isn't main Jean, it's a different version. Original jam never reached her full potential when she faced Wanda, while Wanda was at full power. An Omega level telepath like Jean would beat Wanda any day of the week.

By your logic, i can pull up bunch of instances where Jean would annihilate the multiverse even without Phoenix. But I'm not doing that. Small stories or stories written once and always forgot don't mean anything. Perfect examples are, Matthew Malloy, protege, squirrel girl ...

@Sachintha Fernando Phoenix is omniversal and it's a fact. It's not a fanboy thing. An Omega level telepath, and the most powerful one at it, can defeat wanda. Tomorrow, the writers can say Wanda is the God, the next month, they will make her weaker than black widow, while iron man is a celestial. It's all bs, marvel writers don't care about continuity. Historically and logically, an Omega level telepath and telekinetic is much more powerful than Wanda

At 5:50 you talk about limitless and understanding it. So a quick breakdown would be, let's say water is a measure of power source. You can have an unlimited amount, but is it exiting a faucet, a garden hose, or from a dam? Unlimited means unending but then you enter the realm of how much "unlimited" power can you project per measure of time.

Simple explanation of different infinities. One line moves forward and every 10 seconds it tics. Another moves forward and it tics every 1 second. The last line moves forward and backwards and every .1 seconds it tics. All are infinity but they are far from equal.

The way I like to think of different levels of infinite power, is like there is an infinity of points between 1 and 2, it’s infinite but still between the numbers of 1 and 2, then there’s normal - infinity every real number that could exist if you never stopped counting, then there’s infinite infinities - if an endless number of being was counting endlessly, these are all infinite but the value of each one of these increases exponentially and put them on a wholly different scale than the last

Well I think the problem is a lot of people don’t understand how infinite/infinity works. Some infinities are larger than others. For example. There are technically infinite numbers we can create between 0 and 1 by simply adding decimals each time. In fact there’s infinite numbers we can add between 0 and 0.0001 by adding decimals. But we can all agree that the infinite space between 0 and 100 is larger because it includes the aforementioned infinity as well as a whole other range. Some characters can have endless power but some endless powers are stronger because other capabilities are within their range

Jim Jaspers is on Robs 5 most powerful NON cosmic beings so if he showed up on this list it wouldnt make sense.... He did have Scarlet Witch on both lists so I suppose its possible but hopefully Rob sees the flaw and tried to avoid it in the future. Are they cosmic or non cosmic ruins both lists if theyre on both.
