It def will be interesting to see the reason Kyoshi shows up in Avatar early in the season. Seeing her before Roku doesn't bother me. Avatars seem to have millions of ways to get in contact with each other and this is just another way. Aang is so spiritually in tuned that he can wear her clothes and channel her. He can projectile his past lives to give him wisdom, so I don't doubt they can figure something out. The show has shown when he in the Avatar State, under a lot of grief apparently, statues everywhere and anywhere can glow and something can happen. He can just stare at statues and feel a crazy connection. So if he can enter the Avatar State while looking directly into a statue while in neef of help, I can get behind that. You can jut say in the cartoon, he didn't do it or have to trigger it because it was only Zuko and didn't think he needed help. Here it seems like it will be Zuko and Zhao with all their soldiers so this is where he needs to channel help from his past life. And hopefully we get that with Roku too with the Spirit World episode

There was a scene in the teaser trailer of someone dressed in green robes landing on the ground and hitting Fire Nation men with an air wave.... My guess is that, during an attack on Kyoshi Island, a spirit of Kyoshi will connect with Aang the same way Roku did, and she will protect her island from the invaders

Yep, great change imo. It makes sense considering that having Aang ride the Unagi like he did in the show would be ridiculously expensive and would be would be a really bad choice from a budget perspective

I think when the village is being attacked, Aang will come to the statue and ask for help. Then we will see that scene when he goes into the avatar state

Honestly, I'm still a little unsure. The trailer was good. The acting seems okay.. I'm just ready to watch it for what it is. I'm a very big ATLA fan but I'm trying to keep in mind that the producers and everyone involved are also trying to appeal to newer fans as well. There's a ton of pressure on their shoulders, but at the same time they're the one's who took on this challenge. My only hope is that it does the original material justice, and that the new live action series doesn't open any old wounds from 2010.

Yeah I feel ya. When I heard about this show I imagined/hoped that it would be the essentially the very same story, except going like 2x more into detail, so basically all the same stuff happens except we also see more of the “in between” moments that weren’t shown in the original. But rather this is going to be much more of a retelling than the kind of show I was hoping for. It is what it is but with the direction they chose to go in I’m just not that interested. I was never one of the “it’s going to be absolutely horrible” people nor “it’s going to be amazing” people. Im more expecting it be mediocre, and I’m disappointed that instead of going into 2x the detail with the same story/characters it’s going to just be a retelling with a lot of differences, to the point that I don’t think it’s going to even feel like the same story

I don’t know how I feel about only Being able to enter the avatar state while around an avatar statue…kinda doesn’t really make sense and the first episode of the second season won’t be able to happen, which I really loved from the original. If they somehow made it easier to enter the avatar state when around a statue AND he can still do it when in danger it’ll make more sense

It makes sense since the original had Aang speaking to Roku on crescent island as well as the moment where Kyoshi reveals the truth about Chin in 205, statue's, clothing, relics and locations all working to create an ideal situation for a specific past life connection. It seems like they are playing more into the idea of statues and relics of past Avatars allowing for a specific connection, likely strong enough for a full possession Avatar Statue moment since we need to see Roku, Kyoshi and Kuruk in action. Defense mechanism has to be in in someway since Aang still ends up in the ice.

I’d guess that the past avatars are taking over aangs body every time he encounters their statue, on kyoshi island, Roku’s temple and at the North Pole (were mostly likely a kuruk statue is based on the trailer)
