The eclectic car end game is control of movement. Get a smart meter for your home which has been pushed for the last 5-7 years will allow them to chose when you can charge your electric car, it’s all about the one city radius. The current infrastructure can’t support the current demand, I know as I work in that sector. It a Hunger Games end game. I’ll keep my RS6 until they pry the keys from my blood stained cold dead hands

Ricky you're spot on with electric cars. Early investors into lithium and cobalt mining are quids in. The McLaren engine was based on the Nissan VRH 35 Group C engine which, like the Cosworth DFV it was based on, had gear driven cams. It was developed through many iterations by Ricardo to be suitable for road use and mass production, i.e. simpler chain driven cams and many other changes which resulted in a totally new motor, the M838T. This was after McLaren had bought the IP from TWR who had previously bought it from Nissan. As you were saying there is rarely anything totally new as knowledge about how to build better motors tends to evolve.

Great video, don’t worry about the ranting, the opinions and reasonings seem far more educated than most places on the interwebbynets and IRL. Anyhow, my experience with electrics, well, hybrids…I’m only saving about 10% overall per mile (Electric+Petrol) compared to my last car (Petrol), down from roughly 18p to 16p (Electric=4p, Petrol=12p) per mile. However, the confidence to pull off the line and some spirited driving thrown in for good measure, while still keeping that same saving has made driving around the country and idiots a hell of a lot less stressful, and without feeling like I’m haemorrhaging money. I’d say the instant torque from the electric motor is definitely a thing, but a) road surfaces, weather and tyres together don’t help when putting that power down, even with all the electronic aids we now have at the wheels, and b) I have never driven anything more than 250whp and weighs less than 1400kg; I hope I’ll have the chance to rectify that last one some day!

Ricky couldn’t agree more about the electric car debate, all of the infrastructure needed to produce the ‘clean’ way of generating a mode of transport. I’m with you have to have a bloody great big facility to generate the electricity in the first place. I know some will say you can do it all by solar, but that still needs to get processed into electric supply to residential or commercial properties. My personal view is that hydrogen is the eventual way forward as you can pour it into the vehicle and you can therefore still have all the fun of a combustion engine. I ride a Z1000 as well as drive my petrol car and there’s no soul less electric version that would provide the same amount of pleasure to own.

Hello Ricky I tend to agree on the hi performance stuff with electric ,but 6 years ago I bought a Mitsubishi miev for 4k just for using around Manchester ,so no repairs in 6 years ,no servicing apart from yearly mot which checks the usual stuff anyway balljoints bushes ect,.No oil changes or filters ect ,no degrading in batteries as yet ,although I slow charge off peak.and believe it or not quicker than your average boring saloon car..your gonna hate me for this one the most useful and efficient car I’ve ever had just as a pure work tool..the crazy thing is I’ve been in the trade 45 years and owned so many different cars in the early days running some monster yanks ,a 67 396 camaro,a 70 z28 camaro,..sl 55…and a nice 3.2 manual Porsche ..however I do have to put up with my mates taking the pxss which is a drawback 😆..definitely much cheaper to run than you’re average car..mates always saying have you seen the size of the craters left when mining for batteries,my answer to that is after 120 years of oil being sucked out of the ground how many vast cavities are they underground.the oil companies will never advertise this for obvious reasons…happy Christmas love the channel.✌️

I think what a lot of people lose sight of is the battery in an electric car is not a power source but a storage device so in essence you are driving around using the energy derived from gas or coal fired power stations stored in the battery. So how green is that? !!!

Ricky you are gonna hate me for this, I watch your channel as EV tuning and your tuning/turbo charging share a heat management challenge. I have a Twizzy which has a 100hp Mitsi PHEV rear diff motor, the Renault one is 12.6hp. I have built my own battery and the cooling of the motor/battery cells/inverter require a variable flow rate pump as I need to keep the battery in a 20°C window. I use this to get around here in Finland as a motorcycle is no good in snow and i use it to get to the workshop. The 10-15 minute drive is bad for my ICE cars even with a block heater. The Twizzy has 5 radiators, 2 pod, 1hvac inside, 2 in the F1 Wings and I have a preheater for cold weather and because the motor, diff itself is rebuilt to only operate at that temperature window, like a billet block car. I also run a peltior cooler now to aid the hvac heat sink and assist the system when needed or on shutdown. I have an D2 S8 manual too. But this must be like finding out you are popular in the gay community as a straight guy 😂

Reckon the endgame is they don't want any of us to have cars anymore Ricky, because there is no way that we could generate enough electricity to charge all those heaps of crap, there is no infrastructure to support charging them and the quoted range is a work of fiction, (especially in winter) and a lot of insurers won't touch the things anymore due to the habit of barbequing themselves, (their best feature!). We have basically had a 100 years developing the engine to a fine art and in the space of a few short years the idiots in charge want to junk it all. Car manufacturers like VW are apparently questioning it all as they have lost shedloads of money on EV's and their is no demand in the secondhand market for them. Honestly believe the current range of electric cars will go the way of the betamax video!.

Extreme E racing is Extreme H in 2 years so changing to hydrogen. E fuels are the answer. Nett zero, distribution and delivery systems already in place. The EU added them in at the last minute on the ICE ban legislation. UK not followed suit. For electric cars its the logistics. Imagine the M5 school holiday Saturdays. Imagine how many cars you can fuel per hour at the servicesright now. Now work out how many chargers needed to achieve the same and the national grid supply it would need. And you'd need more services as the range is less.

Kia shortage (allotment car) . Disco 2 td5 , 04 mgtf (toy) , 98 5.7 Camero soft top. (Toy) . I could replace my mums juke and the sportage with a leaf. Electric cars are NOT cool Rick. Spot on. Ultimately its all about control. It started with congestion charges, has moved on to ULEZ meaning you cant drive older cars, 20 MPH speed zones. Next steps will be cars controlled by big brother, they already know where you drive and when, limiting you speed and controlling your driving is all doable remotley particulary when all cars become electric. Older petrol and deseil cars will be forced off the road, uninsuraable, unusable. Am I getting paranoid ? Dont think so. Fortunately Im old enough not to have to worry too much about it but i do wonder what the world will be like for those poor bastards in 50 years time. Also a big 2 wheel racing fan. There is nothing environmentally friendly about EVs, they cause incredible amount of damage to the environment during their production especially with their batteries and do it again when charging and if that’s not bad enough or too hard for greenies to comprehend then have a look at how often they catch fire and how much worse it is than an ICE vehicle plus what happens to the batteries after a fire? BTW most insurance companies are replacing the batteries even in a minor accident because of the danger that a cell could rupture causing the car to catch fire later on so even more damage to the environment with more batteries needing to be manufactured and minerals to be mined.
@scottbrown414211 ай бұрын
Mercedes batteries have a pyrofuse to cut all the cell connections in event of a crash. Official procedure is replacement of the battery at a main dealer - but you can guess whats the dodgy lads in Birmingham are already doing. Buying them off salvage auctions, bodging the fuses and bypassing them.... so good luck to the next person who has a serious accident in one of those.

My theory on governemnt mandation of EVs is for another diesel saga. Initially subsidise them to drive adoption, then remove the subsidy (already seeing that in the US with tesla losing their $7500 tax break) and reap the rewards when theres no other option to buy a petrol car. 2% Benefit in Kind will be gone soon. Ultimately I think the oil/energy companies are behind this, as we see with Shell and BP promoting their electric chargers. Petrol is taxed too heavily (53%) whereas home electric is only taxed at 5%, so by transferring to electric they can make more profit out of the consumer. By making electricity slightly cheaper than petrol the consumer sees an incentive to switch, meanwhile the energy companies see an extra 48% that they don't have to hand over to the tax man. These energy companies must have the governments by the proverbial in order to allow it.
