@@BobBaumeister-g8v It depends on where the driving is being done. Motorway or long flat roads, or on a race track, regeneration braking isn't as efficient as coasting. However if driving on very hilly roads, regeneration is more efficient, as gravity is used to add charge to the battery.

I'm sure this appeals to somebody, presumably, but it seems expensive when much cheaper EVs are plenty fast and plenty comfortable so what's the attraction? Worse since the baseline price gets a crappy version of the car and they attempt to fleece people with various "packs". Of course other automakers offer trim levels too, but it seems particularly egregious in German vehicles especially in the luxury end of the market.

Utterly wrong. Only 5% have needed to be recycled. The factories are already being set up, and at least one is in operation, recycling 95% of content. The materials are far too valuable to waste. and they won't be.

EV batteries at the end of their long life in a car, don't go straight to recycling rather they have a second reuse life as battery storage. Battery recycling companies exist but are sepcialising in recycling faulty batteries. However, the big gloval recycling companies are already investing for when more spent batteries become available as the market is projected to be worth $95 billion by 2040.
