hi just wanna say i watch this last night, and i got the sensitive skin this morning to your review, absolute beautiful on dry skin like mine and in this hot humid weather in asian. Some might not like it but I like the dewy it gives off. Thanks for such detailed reviewwww

I don't think the 5 Boots star means that if you have an SPF30 the UVAPF is also 30. It's more complex than that. Boots is also a completely in-vitro measurement at 1.3 mg/cm2, while SPF is usually an in-vivo measurement at a quantity of 2mg/cm2, corrected with a complex formula. The uva and uvb absorbance according the definition are indeed the same, if measured according the boots protocol, but the relation between the UVAPF and SPF seems to follow a more logarithmic relation. So far what I've seen from products that did mention the SPF and UVAPF and the Boots star, it seems like UVAPF = SPF ^ (boots ratio) gets quite close to the values mentioned. For example the P20 Kids version has 4 stars (ratio above 0.8) an SPF90 and an UVAPF of 56.6, so that is not the same as doing 0.8 * SPF90 = 72 but rather SPF90^0.897 = UVAPF56.6. Its also not a correct formula, I know, but seems to get closer to actual values. So an SPF30 with 5 stars, would then have at least an UVAPF of something like 21 or more, not 30 or more.

Hi again, this is what Boots has to say about the star system: "Many forms of sun protection carry a UVA star rating on the bottle - Boots developed this rating system in 1992, and it was Europe’s first measurement system for UVA protection. Ranging from 0 to 5, this rating indicates the percentage of UVA radiation that’s absorbed by that particular sun protection, compared to UVB. The higher the star rating, the better the protection against UVA rays. The lowest recommended star rating for UVA protection is 4." www.boots.com/sun-and-holiday-inspiration/suncare-advice/spf-factors-uva-and-uvb UVA in a circle means that the UVA protection is minimum 1/3 of the stated SPF, but it's the companies themselves that test it... @@JesperOffersenBSc yes thats correct what they say. But it also true that UVAPF is not equal to SPF times boots ratio, some people think that. Boots gives gives the UVA to UVB absorption ratio, but that is not equal to the UVAPF to SPF ratio.

Thank you for your review! I think I’ll try the 30 one. I’m looking for an SPF with new generation filters and without denatured alcohol. Anything else breaks me out and I hope this won’t do that.

thanks for the review!:) I just ordered the sensitive 30 and I'm curious how it performs! ( I was always a fan of the p20 kids for the holidays but as you said it's a bit shiny)

After I’ve seen your review, I decided to buy the sensitive one and not the sensitive face. Still, not sure if I should buy spf 30 or 50+. I understand the UVB protection is pretty much the same, but what about the UVA? And did I understand it right? The lower the protection, like 30 compared to 50, the more elegant and nicer finish it would have?Because the percentage of the filters are lower?

Hi Bianca Bsb, thanks for your question. Yes, SPF30 is usually less greasy than the corresponding SPF50 (however, it depends on the formulation, but as a rule of thumb, then yes, as the SPF50 has a lot more filters in it), if an SPF products has 5 starts then the UVA protection is equal to the protection of the SPF (UVB protection), like, if an SPF30 has 5 stars then the protection against UVB is 97% and you are equally protected against UVA by 97%, if there is only 3 stars then the UVA protection is considerately below the UVB protection. Being out in the sun today, here in the UK, and I used the P20 Sensitive Skin SPF30 and I was very satisfied with it. As always, doing as I do, say, show, write, or whatsoever, is at one's own risk regardless. Nothing I say, show, write, do, or whatsoever is meant to cure, heal, or prevent anything regardless. The difference in uva protection is rather big, so if uva is important for you I would choose the face one. The regular one has a uva protection of >30 and the face one >50. For people with melasma this is very important. I found for spring and summer the best is a uva of a minimum of 40 and higher is the best for me as a melasma sufferer.

I use the Sensitive Skin one in SPF50+ and it performs the same for me as the SPF30 one he showed here (no greasy finish, absorbs quick, no white cast). Apparently both of them have a UVA-PF of over 30. The Face one IN SPF50+ has a higher UVA-PF of over 50. Personally I think UVA-PF above 30 is already high enough and I rather choose the one that seems least greasy i.e the sensitive skin one and not face (tho i havent tried that one but from the review here i don't feel like it). For extra assurance I do prefer to get spf50+ as it's still cosmetically elegant to me. Correction: the Sensitive Skin SF50+ actually states UVAPF above 40 on the bottle, but on the official website it says above 30 😅.

@@aznblingbling I only have the sensitive spf 30 for now, don’t know if I will buy the 50+ in the near future. I cry from it when I apply foundation over it, somehow it gets into my eyes and I’m kinda scared to apply it on my neck and hands, cuz it might stain clothes. Reminds me of Eucerin spf for the body.

@@aznblingbling yeah a high uva-pf is only a must if you got some skin conditions otherwise >30 would be fine.

Hi.. I use tretinoin so should I go for 50 or 30..thank you in advance 😊
@JesperOffersenBSc

Hi Drliza Barman, thanks for your question. Well, the thing is that SPF30 gives a 97% protection against UVB light, whereas the SPF50 gives an 98% protection, so rather a small difference, what is the most important part is to use the correct amount and I think most are more likely to use the correct amount with an SPF30 than an SPF50. If you are talking specifically about these two sunscreens, then I would go for the SPF30, the Sensitive Skin version. I understand that the Tretinoin can make the skin flaky and sensitive, but still, the protection difference between the two here is minimal, but the SPF50 is more greasy and also has more of the white filter in it, which might show up on darker skin tones. I use the SPF30 Sensitive Skin version, and I use a full pump for my face, that is the face alone, not the neck, I would use a pump more if also going down the neck and the area that would be exposed if for example wearing a v-neck T-shirt on what would be a regular English summer day and I was out and about. As always, doing as I do, say, show, write, or whatsoever, is at one's own risk regardless. Nothing I say, show, write, do, or whatsoever, is meant to cure, heal, or prevent anything regardless. Hi Gary N, this sunscreen is the one I would use, I don't think you can get many that are better or more reliable, you can of course take the one for the face, which is SPF50, it might be prudent in your situation (though it's a bit white, due to the higher amount of SPF filters). However, as with all sunscreens, you need to make sure you use the correct amount and that is about 1ml or more for the actual face alone, so keep in mind that some of it will end up on your hands even if you only use the fingertips. Also, yes, in a lab this product lasts 10 hours, but, when you are out and about you will touch your face now and then, blow your nose, wipe your mouth and surroundings, take sweat away and so on, and in Spain you might go for a dip in the sea or swimming pool, or you might cool off under a cold shower, meaning, those activities will make the product last considerately shorter. Little things like where your sunglasses touches the nose, there the cream will be moved away, yes, it's not that easy with sunscreen. And remember the ears, neck and so on, it's easy to forget, and you usually only notice when it's too late... Sunscreen is tested at 2mg per square cm, so you shall feel the same greasiness on the rest of your skin as on the face... it's a lot or sunscreen when done correctly. Another thing is sweat resistance, well, even it if was 100% sweat resistant, then the sweat from your scalp running down the face you will take away and by doing that you remove the sunscreen. In your situation, I believe shade is very much your friend, you still need to protect against indirect sun though. As always, doing as I do, say, show, write, or whatsoever, is at one's own risk regardless. Nothing I say, show, write, do, or whatsoever, is meant to cure, heal, or prevent anything regardless. Hi George Rezzor, thanks for your question, no, not to my knowledge, it's not like the old fashioned ones that stains clothes yellow/orange, sometimes rather a lot (like from Avobenzone) but it does have a sort of light green colour, but it's not something I've had an issue with. Still the stuff is oily so needs proper cleaning. Best Jesper BSc
