yes, and poorly repaired damage. sure, it's just the plastic bumper cover, but if the cover is that bad (seems like a simple repair), what other damage is underneath the cover that got glossed over.

I scrapped the search for the GR86 because i found and bought myself 2005 Elise. I've had it for about a week now and absolutely loving it Still very happy with my 2015 C7 Stingray Z51 simply for the fact that it has manual transmission. I don't like that the C8 is automatic only.

Really Cayman & C8 is the perfect pair. So glad that was it, esp that build - The 2LT, Z51, magnaride is the perfect spec - In blue, cause that was mine too.

Congrats on the car! I've done roadtrips on a C8 Corvette. I'd appreciate if you could comment on the experience beyond the car mechanics: people comments on gas stations and hotels, Camaro and Mustang owners wanting to race you at any opportunity, people's assumptions of you (both positive and negative) just based on the car. Pro tip: ask everyone who comments on the car if they'd like to sit on it, and when they do offer them to take a picture with their phone. You'll make their day and their smile will make yours. @@brownwhale5518 Isn't a Ford GT nearly quadruple the price even after markup? Also, GM does suck but as far as I am aware, Corvettes have never sucked. But more than anything, if you think car companies don't regularly straight up steal other ideas by buying and reverse engineering other brands, you are in denial. GM was at least open about it. If anyone thinks a flat plane crank midengine car is authentic to Ferrari, they are living in imagination land.

Very, very interested in what Paul things of the C8 after a year in it. I've had my C8 for nearly two years now and love it, but it's a big car. I've driven a friend's flat-6 Cayman S, and it was magical--steering and brakes really felt like an extension of my arms and legs. But getting a Cayman with the performance of a C8 is costly. Maybe I should have just bought an ND MX-5... 😛 I will say the C8 in incredible on long trips with Magnaride, drop it in Tour, silky smooth and 28 MPG in V4 mode. If the road gets interesting, tap the Z mode button and you're ready in literally a second. What Chevy pulled off is just incredible... Did I mention it's big?

I literally own both right now and my 981 Boxster S in Manual is nearly 2x the fun of the C8. The C8 is cool for sure but for driving enjoyment if you live with twisty roads, the 981 S. There is too much of a disconnect between the inputs on the C8 and what you hear and feel in your spine.

@@VermontyAir not everyone enjoys the same things. I've driven the Boxster and it's not exciting to me. Some people would die for a GT350, found it kind of dull. Personal taste! Plus when your own money is involved, most people don't want to deal with Porsche maintenance and fixing costs.

Anyway your input is probably very helpful to him 🙌 PS : having driven a lot of cars, I'm always surprised by how the smallest change; like a one inch difference in the wheel size, a different tire compound or a different factory chassis setup can make a huge difference. So it's always good to test drive the very car you're willing to buy 👌

My brother & I each were at a point last year to order our sports cars. My brother got the C8 2LT and I the BRZ. After break in we met up to drive mountain roads. The C8 is the best car I’ve driven and feels special. Weirdly the most impressive was how quickly the stability control shut off after small intervention. Paul you should be a proud owner. Ps I’m in car heaven with my BRZ. I finally have my lightweight sports car

Congratulations! I felt you in this video! I am traditionally a German car guy and wanted a 911. Midlife crisis and I totaled my Golf R. Budget was $45k. Wanted something I can do track days in and fun backroad car with decent suspension. You don't get much 911 for $45k and the new Golf R wasn't obtainable, and I like bang for the buck performance, so i decided to buy my first American sports car. My budget allowed for a Camaro SS 1LE. Since January, I have put 9k miles on it! I have taken 2 trips to the tail of the dragon and several other trips seeking out curvy roads. It's good that you have a friend to do it with who has the same passion. Enjoy your new vette! (Good call on the sticker removal)

The SS1LE is a bargain at 45k for what you get. GM threw the kitchen sink at it and thats why it devours other cars x2x3 its price on track. Had a 2019 for close to 3 years. Enjoy it dude! I'm in Georgia, would love to meet up for a tail run. I have a GT350 now.

This looks like it'll be a heck of a trip with those two cars. I've always had a soft spot for Elises, and I can't wait to hear what Todd has to say about his after taking it around a twisty road. And that Corvette? I just CANNOT look at it and not see a modern version of the Ferrari 360 Modena. It's absolutely gorgeous! I just think it should have a 4.0-litre flatplane V8 to make those 495bhp while sounding like the Z06. Other than that, just gorgeous!

Hey - my favrotite car is my 2002 Opel Speedster 2.2 (Lotus 116). I own the car for 21 years and I love from the first time I picked it up from my dealer new, as it was! For me this is the ulimate driving experience and a give a shit to comfort and luxury, when it comes to have fun on the road. So it's a shame, that the Elise is no longer build. Keep it as long as you can!

Though i'm sure a manual GT car would be a little tiring to drive long term for miles and miles, I'm obsessed with the manual. I think for me the perfect road trip car would be a G35/G37 manual but turbo'd. Fun to drive, affordable, and really comfortable to drive for a long time while looking good.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS. The ChrisFix method ruined my is300 headlights. You have to apply almost impossibly thin layers of UV spray paint. And you should really apply from 2+ feet away no matter what the can says. In hindsight I'd rather just polish them periodically.
