What do you think about the all-new RockShox SID Ultimate? Could this be the best upgrade to your XC bike? Let us know in the comments 🚴🏼♀️💨
@lopon124 жыл бұрын
No, this is why we have no faith in the bike industry. Probably needs to be serviced every other ride, why reduce the oil for the sake of weight 🙄. Seems silly to the everyday rider. Exceptions for racing.

Is this new SID as stiff as the pike? I think buildig up a light trailbike with the sid ultimate! But on our hometrails are some sirious jumps. Would the SID ultimate be stiff enought?

This is what is really needed for those light short travel trail bikes. There is really a big hole when it comes to forks for light trail bikes. They are either flimsy, or heavy. I can't trust the Reba on Fuel EX7, would love a befier fork without much weight added. But not for that price sadly.
@tomas74034 жыл бұрын
I am not paying that amount of money for a fork but the analysis and the video in general has been excellent.

For the overwhelming majority of riders, long-term performance, servicing and costs are much more important than saving 100 grams.

I was thinking about 100mm SID of previous generation. Since I ride old-school XC, I went for rigid Niner RDO fork. 600g with axle, razor sharp handling and zero servicing (and less than 500 Euros). Still, I think that new damper and mudguard mount are sweet!😊
@kubagajda73474 жыл бұрын
How do you find this fork in the actual riding? I've been thinking about getting one for my procaliber but I'm still on the fence, worrying about the bike being too bouncy and, in fact, unusable on the rooty singletracks.
@marius1064 жыл бұрын
@@kubagajda7347 dont buy Niner fork. It is unforgivingly harsh to ride. I sold it and put chinese BXT fork which has some give to absorb some vibrations.

More offset gives you more stability, not shorter. As this is aimed at XC they are going for sharper handling on more technical terrain I'm guessing.
@robweaver58494 жыл бұрын
More offset gives a longer wheel base which can add stability, but a shorter fork offset will increase the mechanical trail which makes for more stable steering in steep turns or bumpy sections. Sorry, I should have explained that a little more clearly.
@GabrielRamos-ji9gu3 жыл бұрын
Lefty Ocho Carbon is still the best XC "fork". Yes, it's a tad-little bit heavier at1400 grams; but the trade off is massive stiffness. Ocho was so damn stiff the R&D team had to engineer more torsional flex into it. Also, it's excellent performance can't be touched. With only one sliding stanchion that has needle bearings for a bushing there is no binding or stiction to be had.
@emierminio52193 жыл бұрын
My brand new ocho was sent to service center cause oil leakage... 5 weeks by now... Absolutely disappointed.
@mathewwilliams19932 жыл бұрын
I've just bought a Sid ultimate to replace my ocho which is garbage. Needle bearings constantly need resetting or you lose all travel even after an hour or so of riding

I ordered the SID Ultimate Race Day 29 for my 27.5+ Santa Cruz Chameleon hoping it will fit the 2.8 Maxxis. Mainly because my secondary color is blue and forks are hard to come by right now. Any idea the internal width for tire fitment? It says it's boost size but all online measurements I find say max 2.6 width tire. I'm prepared to make my bike a mulligan with 29 front 27.5+ rear if I need to.

Been building bikes for 20 years, mostly for myself and my kid - this being the first somewhat top level new fork for me, I just bought the SL version new on ebay for a bit more than 500 EUR - now waiting for it to arrive to put on my (hopefully matching) blue Radon Black Sin composite frame I got used for abt. two thirds of the fork's price. Can't wait to experience it - and thanks for some insights into the rebound adjustment.

Whilst I do love my XC riding, and would have enjoyed testing out the new SID, I can absolutely assure you our Technical Editor in Chief Rob Weaver has forgotten more about suspension than I'll ever know in my lifetime. I don't like the idea of a "pop-out" allen key rebound adjuster living in the lower leg. Even if it's firmly in there and not likely to fall out, I wouldn't find myself able to trust it.

The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.

So...RockShox made the fork lighter by reducing the oil capacity? Did their engineers test the increase in oil aeration and viscosity as it heats up? And there was no other way of reducing weight? Sorry, but I’ll pass.

This is bull shit. Are they mental... every 6 months a new collection? So what? Now 51mm offset is no longer a great solution... suddenly it turned out that it doesn't respond as well as 42mm so now we will do 44mm... Jizzza's!!!
