I have over 2,000 books on my phone and this is after I cleaned them out. I have read all but 20 or 30 of them. I have loved reading since the first word I learned. I am 72 and still going strong. I am grateful for technology due to the fact that I have had a crippling disease and I can no longer walk and have very limited use of my hands now but I can READ. I highly recommend it.

Thank you Anna. But I agree with Bozo too. It's not just money. But that's a major part of it. Everyone should be able to get at least an Associates/Transfer Degree or Trade Cert on the public dime at community colleges. I know I spend more on my county's junior college than I do on my kid's High School based on my property tax statement, so it shouldn't be a tuition issue. But it's also a teaching philosophy problem. I'm old, so I remember Carter and when Reaganomics kicked in. Along with the bottom falling out of the middle class, the way we were being taught changed. They started molding us into employees, not intellectuals. High school classes stopped emphasizing classical cirriculum like Latin (the gateway language to learning all Romantic languages, which opens up all sorts of international and scientific work for you) and hard sciences for everyone, not just the AP students, and started forcing things like Word Processing, and beating students to death with how to write resumes rather than teaching them how to start their own enterprises or become a Hemmingway level writer. We produced Americans who were ready to go around the world before then, and most couldn't survive in real Mexico for more than a weekend now. College educations became less about education and more about employment around the 80's. Not self employment, but corporate employment. More well trained minions for the Ivy League CEO's were wanted, inventive and articulate independent thinkers were not. Unfortunately, we still have that philosophy today. It's telling that a 4 year degree costs as much as a small home now.

Fox is no better or worse than any other major media outlet. They all certainly have bias and cherry pick facts to fit narrative. If you watch CNN regularly, you’re going to be on a different set of fundamentals than those who tune into Fox or Breitbart. There’s only a handful of completely news oriented distributors left in the western world and until we start promoting non partisan information reporting, their going to be the only ones.

Carl Taylor - Exactly! The Warton School when trump attended was renowned as a cash cow program with low academic standards. Basically if you paid the tuition you got a degree. Trump also graduated without any honours despite him saying he was the top of his class. As a university graduate I can certainly attest to the fact that a university degree does not, in and of itself indicate superior intelligence. It is more an indication of social background. I went to a private school in high school and every single person I graduated with obtained a university degree after high school; some of those people were dumb as fuck.

Great as usual... But as a good Lefty, I must not agree (totally) with "Phones replacing reading" I have Kindle and Nook on ALL my devices. The access to the books I'm reading - or have on a list - is, of course, incredible. I do assume, though, that most folks are not reading - a book or a Nook! Keep speaking out Mr. Mahler! Anyone else out there use Nook/Kindle on the Phone?
