Ozzy Osbourne has a rare gene that makes him far less likely to die from an overdose and it's suspected Keith has it too. The problem is it is also suspected to be linked to addiction in the first place. But it explains how Ozzy (And Keith), where able to survive drug dosages that killed their compatriots.

This is what I hate about how social media has transformed our attention in 10-odd years. The world's eye is on something for only as long as it can be emotionally affected, then it's drained, then it moves on to the next topic leaving dust behind it, money stops flowing there and people stay sick. We live on a regular diet of rage that's stopped our focus on one problem that takes years or decades to fix because a month of it was all our brains could handle before we needed new distractions. Since the news first made the rounds, I haven't heard of any politician or citizen who lives outside of Flint or PR and who made them their life's mission to stay on and influence people to work at.

+miguel vera "Flint still doesn’t have clean water" I'm amazed that Michael Moore didn't mention that once during his appearance.
@AtenRa
@AtenRa 6 жыл бұрын
Because the world's been conditioned to see singular focus as a waste of time. Every time someone puts forward something important, the whataboutists scream for attention. "Oh, there's a hole in the ozone layer! Well that's that great when Puerto Rico has no electricity and people are dying! No wait, Flint kids are still drinking lead! Hey, you forgot that black people are being harassed and shot by white cops! A woman was gang raped in India! MeToo! WHY AREN'T YOU PAYING ATTENTION TO *MY* ISSUE?! IT NEEDS YOUR MONEY AND SPEAKING UP TOO! YOU'RE A HYPOCRITE!" Those are all incredibly important issues, attention and resources are spread too thin to deal with them all at once, but that's what people want now. They get multiple issues hurled at them and think a little attention here, a little there has it solved. But it's all just band-aids. Fewer people want to become champions of singular issues because they're afraid it makes them look negligent to others. Fix the ozone and you allow women to suffer. Volunteer in Puerto Rico and another Flint kid gets poisoned. Speak up for black victims of cops and you're enabling rapists in India. You could've helped them, but you chose not to. Everything is treated as apples when it's not just apples and oranges but an entire basket of fruit. It's ridiculous how social media has destroyed our praise for people who spend years on issues that really do take years.

Andika Tan Your comment makes absolutely no sense. Are you aware of the spectrum of science therefore scientists. In that case Lawyers are way too busy with their case loads to dedicate their time to the government as well as all the CEOs. As a scientist if you go into politics you will have ample time to serve if only the system will let them in. The problem is the system is not allowing diversity into this system we need more educators as well. There are plenty of teachers/professors, scientists, Doctors, Engineers etc who would love to serve the people of our great nation. Our legislative branch needs diversification now!

@@GoddessLuna9 I am one myself, so I am quite aware of that spectrum; that having been said, yes, there may quite well be very high-up scientists who have time to govern in addition to their own research, but... my point is that average (driven) academic scientists - the ones who are most up-to-date on their topic - tend to work almost around the clock.
@GoddessLuna9
@GoddessLuna9 5 жыл бұрын
Andika Tan 🤦🏾‍♀️ Missing the mark. A good start in understanding why this should happen would be people who acquire law degrees with the intent to go into politics. What is a surgeon general? You stating that most scientists are too busy is absurd especially if aware of the SPECTRUM. Those who don’t do teach & SERVE. We have plenty of that in all fields. What you are stating does negate what we need & the fact that it can be accomplished. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Well considering he doesn’t even say how these people died, it’s hard to make a point about it but that’s all Bill was interested in here is using cheap rhetoric to make a point as was the author he quoted. I’ll tell you for one Person on the list, Pritikin who had cancer it probably would have taken him a lot sooner and certainly his heart would have taken him out long before if he hadn’t changed his diet. I’m sure Bill or his audience doesn’t know anything about this or about anyone else on that list.

People do not like to feel dumb and are threatened by scientific knowledge they do not understand. In order to avoid feeling dumb, or appearing dumb in front of their family and peers, they never make the effort to improve their scientific literacy. It would be too painful for them to admit their ignorance and start from an appropriate level (grade-school), so they simply don't do it. Seeing this from outside th USA, gives me the feeling that America is at a critical time where its people have to raise and do what is right. Very much like the French Revolution or World War II, when the people had to fight for their right for a decent life. The fight is in spreding knowledege and sense through republican states where the problem begins. Complaining on social media will not get you anywhere. I see a lot of complaining but when was the last time Bill did a stand up in Mississipi? You see the point? Fox news is in the south everyday making people stupider. Greetings from Mexico. We love you guys and want to see you back o track again and above all living in harmony with nature. Build the wall no body cares.

Watching in early 2021. Was enjoying the whole thing, but the RBG part at the end hit home though. I really hate how that rushed replacement happened, even though the GOP in Congress blocked Obama for his entire last year from appointing a judge. At least Georgia delivered us.

The problem with all things related to caring for the environment is that they involve the ability to understand object permanence. And for too many people, especially on the political right, can't wrap their heads around something unless it affects them directly, immediately, now, and in a way that is easy to understand or already gels with their present belief systems. Anyone non-GOP has a far better chance at grasping this, but it's the GOP and the wealthy donor class that's in charge and will only make things ecologically worse for all of us. Think Hitler was bad? Stalin? Neither of them eagerly helped destroy an entire planet of human beings just so they could go from obscenely wealthy to obscenely wealthier.

Regarding his litany of dead health food and exercise supporters-the only one who truly died young was Jim Fixx-the others died in their late 60s and early 70s. I’m 53 now and I would like to live more than another 20 years ,but statistically speaking , if I kick the bucket at 73, it’s not great but it’s not that bad. Anyway, I live in South Florida, I have seen the face of extreme old age, and if someone wishes you a very long life, don’t assume it’s a blessing.

I live in southern Ontario, Canada. We've never had Oppossums in any great number here, until the last few years. Now they're all over the place. Also, Black Widow spiders are starting to show up with greater frequency. Certain species are beginning to move north because the weather is more hospitable to them now. Can't wait to go gator-hunting down the St. Lawrence River in the coming years!

That was probably a mating flight; was it just after a rain? Ant and termite colonies produce winged, fertile males and females that go out in massive nuptial flights (basically a mid-air bug orgy), and the females mate, rip their own wings off, and land to look for a place to start their new colony.

Flying ants aren't a species, they are the males of regular ants spreading their kind before dying.
