I picked up an 18v whisper blower and am VERY happy with how quiet it is. Kind of shocking given how obnoxiously loud my 2 year old shop vac and stick vac are from them. I may have to upgrade everything.

About four or five years ago I bought the one +18 V 13 inch weedeater. My only complaint is you can only go up to .080 string but it works great. My only complaint is the battery gets kind of hot if you go for too long. I use a four amp hour battery it’s not horrible but it does get a little hot if you just keep going so I just try to swap it out every now and again. But other than that thing works awesome and I like the way they do the string. They give you a little crank to turn it but you don’t even need it which is good cause I lost mine a few years ago. I guess if you’re doing heavy duty stuff the 40 V might be cool but I would opt for a lighter one. That is much quieter though. I can actually hear the grass ripping but I’ve been pretty impressed with the Ryobi stuff. We got this a few years ago and a couple years ago got a combo kit with cyan drill and impact and an oscillating cutter on the flashlight then I got the P262 600 foot pound impact wrench that’s the HP brushless. Then I saw your thing about the sale at Office Depot and I got a charger with a 2,4, and 6 amp-hour HP batteries and I got the HP brushless saw with it for free, or $200 for the three batteries charger and the saw then I also got the little tire air pump and glue gun. I didn’t buy the battery pack to get those because now I’ve got 7 batteries but they were still pretty cheap come about 23 and $24 I think. I just wish I hadn’t gotten the impact wrench yet. For $10 more I could’ve gotten that for free with the $200.03 HP battery and charger kit. I paid 189 for the impact wrench with a battery and charger but that would’ve save me 60 bucks but I’m happy with it. I rebuilt a riding mower that sat outside for three years for and the impact wrench made it pretty easy and was worth every penny. Lol. But with the three-year warranty and the price I will probably keep buying their stuff, so far it’s all works great. I did have a battery go bad and it turned out it was the charger because they sent me a new battery and the charger burn that out so they sent me a new charger and battery under warranty and we’re pretty easy to deal with. That was on the weedeater a few years ago and it’s worked fine since, So far I’ve been really happy with the stuff. As far as this weedeater, it looks cool but for me I’d rather have the smaller one I have that’s lighter. I’m not sure I want to carry that big battery around when the 18 V works pretty great. I guess if I was doing more brush clearing and needed more power it might be worth it but I use the .080 line in mine and I never have a problem with the power. Are usually tear up the string before it runs out of power, I like how it’s quiet but I’d rather have some thing that’s less weight. After half an hour those things start to get heavy. Lol

Whaaaat?! Nobody puts our Clinton(Baby) in the corner... 🤨 Rents too high on this trimmer at $300; quieter or not, as all battery tools are relatively quiet as compared to any gas unit anyhow. I own two RYOBI-ia trimmers, one with string and the other with brush blades (too lazy to change them out between sessions) and I'm still not convinced enough to upgrade, they would need all 10's from you for that!!! Thank you so much for all of your efforts in brining us the wide variety of reviews on power tools and hardware Clint. Yo Clint! That video was real nass like! $299 a bit steep, though. I know, I know, most of the cost is the battery. Would also be better if they made it attachment capable. Just sayin. I have the brushed (attachment capable) 40v version with a 4.0ah and I love it. Yes, it has a soft start, too. Not a deal killer by any stretch. I don't use the bump feed trimmer that came with it. Instead, I use a straight line trimmer head. I can't stand having to bump the thing on a hard surface and DARN sure ain't gonna bump it into my lovely gorgeous lawn! Take care and God bless! 😎🎸👍
@larrytraber2 жыл бұрын
they have a 40v hp version thats attachment capable. the only way they were able to make the weed eater quieter is by making it direct drive. Direct drive eliminates having gearing and a driveline in the shaft, as well as more gearing on the trimmer head which is where all the noise comes from.
@meagaindave20492 жыл бұрын
@@larrytraber The main thing I hear on my brushed version, of course, is the string cutting through the air and the trimming of grass, itself. I don't know why the motor (or gearing) was ever a problem for noise. 🤔 It's not an issue whatsoever. 🤷♂️
@jacksmith23152 жыл бұрын
I have the 40v expand it where you can change out to trimmer, edger, brush cutter, pole saw, cultivator etc. Im impressed with the power its got. Ya the noise isnt an issue at all. They're takin a page out of milwaukees book. Keep coming out w somwthing new eventhough its no better than the last just to make something new and have ppl spend their money thinking its newer so it must be better.

Omg that soft start kills me. I was all set to buy but now debating. But what’s the average time for that 6ah battery. Seems like most of the cost is for the battery. Hell to buy separate. Doubt the 4ah would last much swinging 15/17 line.

I own a ryobi attachment capable brushless trimmer, a BlackMax attachment capable (25cc) gas trimmer and a ryobi attachment capable corded (10 amps, 120 volts, 1200 watts) trimmer. Enough attachment capability for me. So, this dedicated trimmer would be a great addition to my toys collection. I already have three ryobi batteries, two 4 ah and one 6 ah, and two chargers. Lacking the high speed charger. For me the key to run the ryobi battery powered trimmers efficiently, is to run them at low speed, remove the guard and buy a lot of cheap ryobi batteries at Ebay. Using the brushless trimmer this way I get about an hour run time for the each 4 ah battery and over 1.5 hours for the 6ah battery; a total of 3.5 hours of continuous run time with my three batteries. A brand new 6ah battery cost about 240$, the charger about 100$ and a new trimmer cutting head about 30$... So to pay 300 to 340 dollars for the brand new trimmer plus 6ah battery plus charger is a good deal. Looking forward to buy one soon...

I am very happy with the new Ryobi Whisper Series 18v One+ HP Weed Trimmer, when used with an HP 6v or 9v battery. It has plenty of power, great specs and features, but less money, and I can stick with my One+ platform. Those weren't nasty weeds with thick hard stalks that were being cut , but rather some patch grass that is easy to cut . Sorry but these battery powered trimmers just don't cut it when it comes to the heavy thick stuff. my son in law has the top of the lane Stihl trimmer which i have tried . It bogged down as soon as i tried it on tall grass , 12 " high with weeds. it could barely make a dent in that stuff and the battery lasted all of ten to fifteen minutes . i then got out my Honda four stroke trimmer and blew through the same material in a matter of seconds ., Battery powered trimmers are for small blades of grass but have no use in clearing roadsides or overgrown fields .
