My thoughts 🤔 this will be over priced to the consumer as it all electronic I will stick to my 105 thanks there is really no need to go any higher I can shift just as quickly as someone with electronic and an extra cog will not do much to be honest it should have been 13 speed Shimano have lost contact with the consumer who buy there stuff all well and good speaking to the pros but at the end of the day the pros are a different bread and don't pay all Shimano's bills 😁 I will wait for a 12 speed 105 groupset thanks

They did exactly what I expected. Ultegra and Dura Ace being Di2 only just makes sense to me. I'm glad they are didn't force micro spline hubs too. Keeping the hub compatibility is so nice to see. Yay for advancement of technology. Sadly, I now know what rim brake owners feel when most bikes are now only being produced disc only. I officially have the last generation of mech Ultegra, which is where my honest blue collar budget stopped. If they aren't careful, we will completely polarize our sport into elites and the lower masses. But maybe that has been coming on for years? I'm just 4 years into this cycling passion but let's hope in 10years when I buy a new bike I don't have to 2nd mortgage my house just to afford a bike that's a step up from Wal-Mart brand.

@@gudrune thank you and I agree to ride upgrades rather than buy. I have lost a considerable amount of weight on my specialized hybrid bike before buying my first proper road bike this year. However, I am just concerned about the signal this communicates. Although history tells me a 105 in 10 years will be better than my current Ultegra, I just hope it's mechanical. Even the Shimano Engineer admits they had to hardwire the 2 mechs because of interference..imagine the amount of interference of other devices as we 'advance'. I'd rather rely on good ole fashioned mechanical for the basic function of my bike. Maybe the real challenge for the future is to make a more efficient and more crisp mechanical Groupo?

I love what Shimano, SRAM, Sensah and Campagnolo are doing in pushing the gearing envelope, but it's almost becoming a solution to a problem that does not exist. theres nothing mediocre about finishing a ride /race on gear that works. Shimano is vastly more reliable, easier to service & generally cheaper & more readily available in parts world wide. Shimano also provides the largest and widest scope of equipment to cater for all ages, genres, genders and skill levels. Thats why its chosen more widely over other group sets, thats why most new bikes are released with it installed and why most people will prefer to ride it. But hey don’t let common sense get in the way of your conspiracy theories.
