I recently recieved my Poison Adrena rod and I am very impressed! It's a 229 cm (regular 2-part) spinning rod 5-15g rated at medium power, as far as I know this model is not avaliable in the US. The weight of this specific rod is 102g. The overall feel of this rod is very premium, it is a huge improvement over my Zodias which was my old rod. A really sharp finesse rod that I will use mainly for Neko but also light dropshotting, crank and jigging for perch, atlantic mackerel and trout. Great balance with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500 as expected.

Lex Cooper Lex Cooper Some JDM specific rods are 2 piece, USDM are typically 1. Same goes for their other lineups: Expride and Zodias, usually indicated by a “2” at the end of the model number. Seems like 2 piece rods are a thing in Japan. Some of the rods overlap and are available in both markets, so just look for the “2” to confirm.

Just one question why are you testing bait casting rods the way you would a spinning rod? (You know that they are spined different?) just curious if I am wrong please let me know.
@TackleAdvisors5 жыл бұрын
I don't want to assume your knowledge of rods. So please don't take offense if you are a well versed builder. But Spine is so insignificant in the overall action of the rod. When testing the action by pushing the rod into the carpet..I'm going to do it the safest way which is the backside of the tip guide. And I wonder what the odds are of them actually spining the rod prior to building.......and if they even follow the spine accurately once they do start the build.
@jamesscarberry31285 жыл бұрын
Tackle Advisors I have built dozens and that is why I am asking if you are testing action you need to put pressure where the line will put pressure. And the spine of the rod is 90% of the action. If it didn’t matter it wouldn’t make any sense to find where it is on the blank. No offense taken I just see a lot of people do it,try this do it your way and then flip it over if you don’t see a difference I am just a dumb ass. Those rods are incredibly light I can’t wait to check them out 👍
@TackleAdvisors5 жыл бұрын
We can agree to disagree. Rod spine on modern blanks is minimal in terms of its effect on action. As not even perceivable at all. If building your own.. Sure spine it... For peace of mind.. But thats about it. I had 3 tailwalk rods form a set. At 8 and 9 feet.. Even a set wasn't perceivable. And I have replacement straight tips to compare. And spine is less of an impact than a 5/8" permanent bend. I'm not alone on that method of thinking

I’ll wait a while to see how many explode over time. If I’m expected to pay $350 for a rod that weighs about the same as the cardboard tube inside a roll of toilet paper, it’d better hold up better than one. As Woody Stemms already stated, we’re about to reach the limits of lightness. Lightness vs durability is where the balance needs to be struck. I’m a Shimano guy. All my reels are Shimano, cast as well as spin, and 75%+ of my rods are Shimano. I realize the Poison line’s been available overseas for a while now, but still not long enough to satisfy me, seeing that I’ve owned balsa airplanes as a kid that were close to being heavier than these. Color me old and cynical, if you must, but I’m waitin’ a bit. Thanks for the video.
