I really want to buy it but there are problems for european customers We paying extra 21% of the price and a extra 12% import fee. If woodpeckers can give discounts for customers outside usa it will be fair or some warehouse where woodpeck ship it inside europe. We love this company but the extra import costs is making it very expensive

How can people afford these tools? Genuinely curious. I mean, I’d love this tool, but it costs the same as a brand new powertool. Can anyone explain how they’re able to justify the cost, either in revenue or in joy when using them? (Never owned a woodpecker tool so I can’t tell if it’s selfexplanatory)

For me, I work in a shop with one other person, my boss. I get to use his very nice machines and power tools all day for work and whenever I'd want to for fun, and since I don't have the space or need for machines of my own, I put money into precision tools that he can use too. I only have 3 woodpeckers tools though, a 12 and 6 inch combo square, and a Delve square. I use all of them daily (especially the 6 inch combo) and the features they pack make them worth it IMO. I can confidently say my accuracy is higher than his, partly because I chase it, and partly because the tools are so easy to read and the Indexable feature on the squares is invaluable.

Well, I have bought many Woodpeckers' tools ever since they came into business in the woodworking world. Yes, they are expensive, but they are the best. Oh indeed yes. Once most gets one, they want more. High quality never comes cheap. If you were to see how these tools are made and the incredible accuracies etc, you will want one. And if you find a way to buy it, you will love it. And you would probably buy many more. GAR-OWN-TEED.

@@MrPatdeeee I guess it’s a matter of budget. I wish I was able to afford these tools, they are for sure a piece of art, and I don’t doubt that they are as accurate as they come. I suppose I should try saving up for one and see for myself, thanks for the reply Pat😁

@@MrPatdeeee only with Woodpeckers have I looked at Starrett as the cheaper option LOL. No regrets, like I said the indexable combo squares just remove the margin of error with traditional combos, where you still have to account for pencil width, and thicker blades mean higher chance of parallax error. Even with a high end square, its only as accurate as you are, with the indexable, just lock it at whatever inch you need, and mark or scribe with the guides. Reliable accuracy indeed. 👍

So, if I was a home builder, I know I would bang this tool up and drop it 50 times a week from the roof. I would be mad if I got a scratch on this $$$ tool. For that reason I would stick to the cheapo ones you can get for $7.99 from the home centers. If I damage it I'm only out $8.

Seems to me that Woodpeckers only make tools for people who still uses the obsolete Imperial system. I only bought tools from them which are in metric system. Maybe some day they will start producing more metric tools and less and less imperial ones.

Why would we do that when 97% of our customers use the inch scale? If most of our customers used metric, then that is what we would concentrate on.

@@WoodpeckersLLC Sorry to hear that your sales is limited only to imperial based countries/customers. But if you like to increase your sales world-while it is a good idea to start producing each and every one tool in two versions imperial and metric or at least ask your clients if they like to have an specific tool in metric. As I learnt from other tool manufacturers (power and hand tools) which are based in imperial countries, they are starting to promote a silent change producing all their machinery in metric. Sooner or later, maybe later than sooner given the reluctance to change, imperial measuring countries will go metric. It is clean, easier, precise, cost friendly from manufacture point of view and as you may know it is also used 97% in the world. Any way your tools are great in ingenuity, quality and precision. I own several metric tools from you and they are my all day tools. 😀 Thanks for tour work.

So, producing our tools in metric is going to change the American way of thinking when 20 years of concentrated effort in the school system and at least as many years of concentrated effort by the government could not? Personally, I am just as comfortable measuring with either scale, but whether the rest of the world likes it or not, we're no where near converting the United States to metric, and one company trying to make it happen would be economic suicide.

I LOVE woodpeckers tools and own a LOT of them. But…. This square wouldn’t last a month out on the job site. I use to frame houses and carpenters use squares for a lot of other uses. And all would destroy this square. I’ll still buy it but don’t sell a framer a thin square.
@JeffRL1956
@JeffRL1956 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the "job site". If you mean framers building a whole subdivision of new homes, then it's not their first choice. However, it's obviously intended for in-shop use by woodworkers and cabinetmakers. It could also be useful if someone was building a small shed in their backyard and only needed to mark a few rafters. For that use, a framer could indeed use this tool without "destroying" it.

As a Woodpeckers customer, I am confounded by this fundamental and repeated miss by Woodpeckers. They have demonstrated an ease at producing their measuring tools in both imperial and metric, and yet continue to offer several tools solely in imperial. Where’s the logic in this? It would be so, so simple for Woodpeckers to produce all of their tools in both systems. Does Woodpeckers really want to turn its back on a huge global market?
