I did my motorbike test here. I pretended to mishear the instructor at 00:14, turned left (correctly) and then sat at a perfectly timed shutting level crossing to kill a good 5 minutes.

Thanks for this. Passed my test in Southport in 1996, shortly after the theory test was introduced. Had an examiner who had somehow acquired a reputation amongst my peers for being strict and the test started badly when I stepped on his toes walking out of the test centre. Still, despite racking up 10 minors- including locking up on an emergency stop just before the car completely stopped (this was pre mass adoption of ABS) and doing 30 in a short 40 limit stretch coming off Kew roundabout- I passed first time. Go me.

My route avoided Kew roundabout and I went up towards banks and back, I must say it was 7 years ago.

My own driving test seemed to go a lot quicker than that! :)

Interesting to see a different test route round Southport, none of them are complete without a visit to Kew Roundabout :D

I don't think learning routes inside out helps that much. You're better off actually practicing like any normal person. If any learner believes this is the way, what are you going to do once you pass? Will you only stick to the known routes? Yes, it's helpful, but you shouldn't overdo it... disclaimer: this is really just my opinion, and I'm not even from the UK

finicuRO Great comment 👏 100% with you. This just gives you an idea of what to expect for a test route. Learn to drive and you can drive anywhere. Thanks. Ashley

I'm on my 6th lesson as of 10am this morning. I'm going on major roads. Any tips mate

Try and relax your hands as much as possible. This will help relax your feet and eyes also and you’ll drive better. Good luck

I know everyones different but roughly how many lessons does someone need to take to pass on average?
@ashley_neal6 жыл бұрын
40-50 hours with private practice is the average. Cheers, Ashley

I passed first time with 23 hours recently, driving Is all about confidence. Averages are there as a guide.

Designer Makes my brother passed with 11 lessons, although he also drove around without an instructor in my dad's car, so probably 20 to 25 hours altogether

Kris Nicholson totally agree! It's all about your ability and the confidence.

Bit cheeky, but I'll allow as you've made so many good general-purpose videos. Safe driving doesn't end with a certificate. Unless it's one a Doctor signed.
