I think he recovered nicely from the stalling. It looks like a mock test and his nerves probably played a big part in him stalling. I’ve got my 1st test next week, I went out for some extra practice in my own car today and stalled 3 times! In all fairness my car is a petrol and needs a good bit of gas to get going but my instructors car is a diesel and is basically lift clutch a lot more before gas or it shoots off. It didn’t take too long for me to get the feel of my own car again and get going. I’m loving watching all these type of videos as I feel they are helping me to feel mentally prepared for my test. I just really hope my manoeuvre is a parallel park (1st choice) or a pull up on the right and reverse (2nd choice) as I don’t like the bay parking quite so much!

7:30 is a good example of why you shouldn't follow the speed limits displayed on sat navs. You can see it sign posted as 40, however it shows 60 on the TomTom.

Great spot! Didn't even notice that myself. Nice one, Ashley :)

iPhone satnav is pretty accurate for giving speed limits. Tbh i wouldn’t go by anything other than what the road signs say anyway.

40mph seems insane enough considering it's obviously a residential area

Hi Angus, your videos have been really helpful. I have passed my test yesterday at currie test centre.( 1.25pm). My route was from driving test centre: Turn right Roundabt 3rd exit Follow sign for edinburgh roundabt×3 Then turn right 3rd exit to join bypass Continue for 4 miles Exit bypass turn left 1st exit Continue turn left direction to Morrison's car park oxgangs- manoeuvre forward bay parking Exit car park turn left 1st exit At roundabt 2nd exit Then normal driving to currie centre Pull ups on the way and emergency stop. Hope this helps for those taking tests at Currie. Good luck to all.

It's an instant fail carrying on while a pedestrian is crossing regardless of green light..mock test ? Brilliant recovery on stalls I reckon to 🎉 well done to this driver and your videos are well put together ❤

nearly a serious fault at 11:30 luckily they just cleared the main road before stalling!

This video also reinforces what Ashley states about not following the speed limit indicated on your satnav. At 11.06 there is a 50mph limit signpost and the satnav states 60mph limit. It also happened at 10.51 but not so easy to spot.

Under the new Highway code rules where pedestrians now have priority over almost everything, would this driver now fail for what happened at 23:08? (Lady trying to cross road pushing a buggy). Should the driver now stop and let them cross the road (if safe to do so)?

Resat my test on Tuesday and passed. All I can say is that the test is not as daunting as we learners are led to believe from instructor. It's only for 40 minutes. My instructor (s) basically all ripped me off telling me I was not ready. Looking back I could have done it for half the money and time. Just go for it is my advice.

At 25:38 the sign says 30mph but as soon as your pupil has turned left, there are National Speed Limit signs - does that mean despite the 30mph signs, the road quickly changes to 60mph?
@rogueuniversities68662 жыл бұрын
I'm incredibly surprised that the road the pupil turned left into around the 6:14 mark said 40mph on it with the type of road it was and all the parked cars and no double yellow lines etc.
@fredflintstone20772 жыл бұрын
Its a maximum allowable speed limit when safe to do so. We drive according to the road and conditions rather than try to be at maximum speed limits.

Everyone stalls know & then. In an exam you are much more likely to due to the pressure on you to pass.

How do you stop and move off without having to always use the handbrake?
@MrStreetboy807 жыл бұрын
dz aliam make sure your in well worn shoes or trainers too. It most definitely helps feeling how much the pedals are moving. Good for smooth brake control too. Good luck on your test 🤞

I have a question please, my driving instructor said that at national speed limit if I am below 40mph I would fail, in this mock the speed is 38 at some places?
@ashley_neal6 жыл бұрын
Leenay That’s a good question. It would depend on the situation and the road ahead. In the past I’ve had pupils fail for doing 55mph on a national speed limit dual carriageway. Make as much progress as you can do safely. Thanks. Ashley

Driving should be Like FLOATING ALONG THE ROAD. Like Dancing , Like in the Bedroom With a Loved One. Smooth as SILK. & 1,000 % Stress Free. Your Car should Feel like YOUR CLOTHES. / COMFY Slippers. Like KISSING Your Long term Partner, Treat your car & other Road Users as Customers in a BUSINESS meeting WITH YOUR TOP BOSS WATCHING on CAMERA ! READY to SACK YOU, or LIKE a POLICE CAR is WATCHING YOU. 120 / 140 mph Should feel like you are Sat by Your LOG Fire at Home All Warm Cozy & relaxed, But MIND working 200% Concentration. Someone May SWERVE or Get a Blow Out, or be ON THE FONE & NOT looking How Fast you are Approaching. 5 Second Rule, Mirror every 5 Secs. & Scan the Road to the point where it Disappears. It can take over HALF a MILE to STOP from Say 120 mph. in a Good car With Perfect Tyres & Brakes. Not Advisable unless Fully Trained as a Traffic Cop or Racing Driver. Even Traffic Cops Smash Cars up Remember THAT FACT. Watch Motor Sports , Rallying Even FORMULA 1 Drivers CRASH BIG TIME. In the NEWS today, Someone Crashed & LEWIS HAMILTON Somehow LOST the RACE & he Did Not Crash. ( that's todays News story ?? Who Knows Why & What ?? )

I Think the Sat Nav or Camera angle are deceptive Here. I think that Driver is a FAIL due to Lack of Speed Driving UP to the Limit Where Safe & 400 yds from a SAT NAV instruction Still Doing 35 Mph on Approach to the Turn. Maybe I'm Wrong, ( Misconception Due to Camera angle etc & Not sat in the Driving Seat . ) I HOLD MY HANDS UP if Im Wrong Mistaken By Exactly what i see in the Video to be Timing Accurate ??? I ADMIT to being Wrong Here IF im Mistaken By Camera Angles etc. at 11:40 Approaching a 90 deg Full Right turn at 35 mph is Way too Fast BONKERS TOO FAST try Halving the Turn Speed. 10 mph maybe 20mph to leave the Main road Quickly After Viewing the Right turn Side Road Fully & assessing any Hazards. This Driver Should Be Driving at 58 / 59 mph or it will be a Fail. in every 60 mph limit area. UNLESS other Traffic Dictates Differently. / Wet /Icy etc. Pedestrians Cyclists or Farm Machinery on the Road. ON a 60 Limit Drive at 59 mph Until Conditions Dictate a Lower Speed. A Good Car will Take these Roads at anything upto 100mph. even on Curves & Bends. IF NOT It would be a 50 Limit or 40 limit on Any Given Bend. A Good Driver in a Real Car Could Breeze them at 80 or 90 with no issues Day in Day out . But a GOOD Driver will Have their EYES GLUED to the BENDS & APEXES & CRESTS & DIPS in the Road. SCANNING to The FURTHEST VIEW POINT, Then Scanning All Mirrors & Farthest Distance & Mirrors & near Distance. SPEED is SAFE, LACK of Concentration KILLS. EXCESS SPEED in the Wrong Place KILLS YOU DEAD. WHT IF YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT TREE or WALL as it JUMPED OUT & HIT YOUR CAR ????? YOU are DEAD. HOWEVER FAST, Always be able to Stop Within the DISTANCE you can SEE / in YOUR VIEW at that Split SECOND to Hit the ABS / BRAKE. To STOP. BEFORE HITTING the Stationary Farm Tractor.

Crossing a SOLID White Line is 3 Points & £100 Fine . If a Police car Spots you. Video of driver Passing a Walking Cyclist. Still Speed Far too Slow for Road Conditions / Traffic, at the Time ( IF the Cameras show a True Vision. ) MAYBE its the Camera View / Vision ?

This isnt an actual test...its an example of a real test done by an instructor -driving- for educational purposes hence why there are no moments of conversation or direction from the tester just voice overs from the video poster -instructor/driver- which is why its all the more funny that he stalled it! Great video but it just goes to show we are only human and we all make mistakes...dont we video poster...wink wink.

No actual reason it couldn't be a recording of a real test, see www.gov.uk/driving-test/using-your-own-car the section on dashcams and other cameras, all Ashley would need to do would be add audio, hence his voice rather than an examiner giving directions.
