I think it would be cool if he turned out to be a Royal Guard who went AWOL after Palpatine's death. Some of them were supposed to be a bit force sensitive in the old lore.

I would say that some of us have not been under the asumption that he is a "Jedi". I think there have been a fair share of us who think that he is a force sensative pirate that had nothing to do with the Jedi Order, but the kids, specifically Wim's belief in wanting him to be one, actually pushes him towards 'the light side' and begins to redeem himself. One reason is to give us a new juxtaposition to all 'the Jedi Survicor' stories that we haven't quite had yet and as a way for, at least in live action, to catch up with other source material in terms of vastness of force sensativity beyond the Jedi and the Sith that already exist elsewhere in canan. And the pirate/smuggler is a nice way to go about Star Wars from a sideways pov and frees up the space of creativity a bit. Of course they always could do something crazy here and also make him Obi-wans long lost brother, but I feel like that's a story for another time...maybe! :p But why wouldn't he refer to himself as a Jedi? Because like you address we have a whole array of characters that reject the term for all kinds of reasons. Ahsoka kind of goes back and forth on it. Baylan (and unknowingly Shin) is on his/their own journey. What is Reva at this point? Even Ahsoka tells Huyang that she doesn't need Sabine to be a Jedi, but herself. We have Grogu who is force sensative, has been trained in the Jedi arts, but is now a foundling-Mandalorian. There is all kind of "gray" here, because we have fluid evolving philosophophies and what a Jedi has been and what is it going to be (hence all of the focus on Rey films).... I will be surprised if Jod is a Sith or is knowingly seeking dark side-power.

My theory. He's an inquisitor or some kind of evil origin and they might do a retconned origin of Mara Jade. Think of it, she was the Emperors hand then after the fall of the empire she became a smuggler before being a good guy. I think he'll do something similar. He was an inquisitor (maybe Palpatine clone? 🤔) , the empire falls and he becomes a con man/pirate to survive, he hears about the Jedi treasure but wants something in the treasure (Jedi artifact?) but goes good when he meets the kids and can sympathize with them.

Let's hope we can see Jude Law's lightsaber in two weeks because is a Jedi survivor. Maybe we can see new Sith lords in that series. It would be cool to see Luke Skywalker meeting Ezra Bridger for the first time in skeleton crew, Ahsoka season 2, and the mandalorian movie.

Nobody has said every force user is Jedi or Sith. Meg literally mentioned the Inquisitors. They’re not Sith. The Nightsisters aren’t Sith. Kylo REN isn’t Sith. Snoke wasn’t Sith. Grogu isn’t Jedi or Sith.

I don't know why, but I just have a feeling that he will be a young clone of Palpatine. He has a similar look to Palpatine (hairline, accent) and now he is apparently a Sith? You just know that Lucasfilm is itching to fix the "somehow Palpatine has returned" plothole. I am interested to see this show but, not going to lie, will be kind of disappointed if they go down this path.

one thing about ST that drives me crazy is how force users are handled. someone figured out that a force sensitive is born 1 in every million. force users have a ridiculous advantage over all beings not force sensitive. someone like that could do anything they pleased in life to great advantage. someone like this would have countless options in life. thats why it drives me crazy that if you are found to be force sensitive as a young child. your life has 2 options, learn the ways of the Jedi or the Sith. which makes no sense that life becomes extremely limited for you if you're born with such incredible capabilities. what ends up happening is force users become this plot device to measure the morality of characters by holding the up to a very ridged standard. so it makes me happy to see force sensitives using their power in different ways, for different reasons..

Yes! I really like Star Wars Visions so it will be good to get another season of that. Another hypothesis that popped into my head is that Ja Nod is not a clone of Palpatine, but is one of Palpatine's sons. He could be Rey's father or uncle. I still think that there is going to be a Neverland angle to this because of SM-33. Ja Nod might appear to be a Peter Pan type, but he is really a Captain Hook. Because he is a descendant of Palpatine, he is a force user, but he is conflicted about it and isn't necessarily evil. He might be just trying to survive without being known as a force user. The craziest theory he is Baylon Skoll. Jude Law looks like Ray Stevenson without grey hair and a beard, unless they replaced him already with another actor.

I think he was a padawan at the time of order 66, who survived. He was put through the trails to become an inquisitor. However he failed but survived. Either he escaped and joined the pirates or he was made into a spy like Mara Jade was in the books. Maybe down the road we will find out there was more like him and one is called Mara Jade.
