One source that I listen to says there’s not much iodine in these nuts. The other source says it’s rich and iodine. I’m struggling with this. Can you help me out? Thank you, Jack.

Hi Jack, great question! The confusion is understandable, as information can vary from source to source. In fact, Brazil nuts don't actually contain iodine; their claim to fame is their high selenium content. If you’re looking to increase your iodine intake, foods like seaweed, dairy products, and fish are much richer sources. Brazil nuts are excellent for their antioxidant properties and selenium, which also supports thyroid function but in a different way than iodine. Hope this clears things up for you!

Absolutely! Brazil nuts are great for people of all ages, including senior men. They’re a fantastic source of selenium, which is important for supporting immune function and reducing inflammation-benefits that can be especially valuable as we age. Just remember, because they’re so rich in selenium, you don’t need many-just a few a day can make a big difference!
