If you're interested in combat sims I would recommend DCS:World which is free. It comes with two free aircraft with the option to buy more high-fidelity addons.

Insane I NeXus I used the T.flight for ages playing FSX and arma 2. It's a good stick, I love the rocker switch as a rudder. It was always alot more accurate and easy to use than the twist sticks we see today. That being said the accuracy of the stick left alot to be desired, for arcadey games like warthunder it's great. I would not however be wanting to fly something like the KA-50 or A-10c in DCS.

I agree with you entirely. The T-Flite Hotas X is very reliable and tailor made for FSX SE and Prepar3D. Be warned that on the Thrustmaster site, the PC/PS3 is not available anymore. I bought 2 extra back up units, just in case. Must specify that my 2 year old model, is still flawless. The "new" one is not dedicated to FSX anymore, but rather to that popular science fiction game called "Star Citizen". It is now an X Box variation that is a aiming away from flight simulation, such as on FSX SE, Prepar3D, FSW, and X-Plane. I do believe that it functions just as well as the previous one. It looks the same but themed to interstellar battles..................................

A yoke is like a steering wheel, but you can also push in and out to point the nose up and down. The yoke is better for slow turns and holding a course with general aviation aircraft. You could fly a stunt plane or a fighter jet with it, but you would have trouble whipping it around for some quick pinpoint maneuvers. Also, flying a helicopter with it is extremely difficult. And vice versa, its harder to hold your perfect course with a stick. I' would recommend the stick first. A lot cheaper, uses a lot less desk space, and you can fly more things decently with it. I played with a microsoft sidewinder and logitech 3d pro stick for years before I moved to a flight yoke and HOTAS.

I got a cyborg fly 5 3 years back. It was my first joystick and I thought it was very nice (although I did not have anything to compare it to). It worked fine for me for -- nothing broken, all the buttons working, etc. After a year I quit flight simulation due to not having a pc that could run it (previously I was running on a potato at like 20fps and it really bothered me). A month ago I got it back out and started using it. First of all, the driver installation software is very buggy and annoying to use. Next, I found out that half the buttons don't work and that some of the ones that DO work will randomely stop and start working again. The yaw axis on the joystick is super buggy aswell. I don't know how being on a shelf could have caused so much damage to it (maybe dust was somehow getting inside of it or something???). Theres not really a point for me saying all of this, I'm just sharing my experience.

I bought an x45 I have infinite flight. I plan on using it with my computer. my only question is how would I accelerate since I don't have the thrust. is there a button that would help me out? or do I download a flight sim that helps me use this joystick. I absolutely love Infinite Flight I use it to stay in touch while I'm going through the flight school process. I paid 10.00 for this seriously the spring is great. any ideas or help please reply, I remember having the Windows flight sim as a kid and I had 300.00 worth of a joystick and the thrust. I was young, it was neglected and now boy how I wish I took better care of if. it was blue and black with grey very expensive from micro center.

I would say it's probably better for intermediate to advanced, there is waaay too many buttons for a beginner. However you could disable most of the buttons and slowly re-enable once you figure out what they do and why you want it. Thats what I did back in the day with my x45

Why would you skip the X52 and go right to the X55? That's not the next step up, and it's not "the best" by a long shot. The X52 has almost the same number of buttons and switches(also sliders, scrolly wheel things, and 3 programmable 'layers' of controls). The only thing it doesn't have is a split dual throttle, which if we're honest almost nobody uses in a sim anyhow(how often do you need differential thrust or cable shrink compensation in a sim?) At about $100 it's *much* better than the X55 for home simmers for price-to-features. I got mine about 6 years ago, have gone through CH and Saitek yolks and quadrants since, and I *always* go back to the X52.

I wouldn't recommend the X55 it's strange in the hands and is usually very hit or miss in terms of quality. The throttle it includes is great though. I would suggest getting a CH Products Fighterstick and Pro Throttle they are usually great quality and have enough switches to map whatever you want and if you buy them together they are cheap than the X55 currently.

I don't mind being so. If a dick is someone who expect value for the money I spend on their x52pro. I have a joystick that is not fully working. In my dicky world I even tried getting help from some really nice and smart people in the form of teamviewer support. I get told after trying with various software ver. install/reinstall freaking USB driver and so on. Nothing can make this work as intentionally.Maybe you guys got lucky with your setup and hurra for you. But being stuck with a useless joystick and no support is also kind of dicky so excuse my vocal comment and there you have it. Happy?

Sorry you spent so much extra on stupid LCD screens and color-changing LEDs and then couldn't figure out how to use it I guess...? The base X52 doesn't even need drivers to run, so not sure what your problem is.

Right, I don't use AI. I use VATSIM for all flights. I like the ATC, I like the communication and at the end of the day, it really is the cream of the crop for flight simulation.

Their two entry level joysticks have great potential and an outstanding design... but they die within a few months. Everything works but the x-axis which is apparently a consistent issue with them.
