A quick note on the free vs paid versions of Lychee. It's not 100% clear from their marketing, but in the free mode it looks like you won't be able to use some of the advanced support mode features, including rafts, 3D hollowing, and blockers - which is a shame, but 90% of the content in this video will still be applicable to the free version, and hopefully the other 10% can serve to help inform your decision to subscribe to their paid plan if those features interest you. mango3d.io/compare-lychee-pro-free/ Some work arounds would include hollowing and adding drain holes to your models inside of Chitubox or Microsoft 3D Buillder prior to supporting/slicing in Lychee, and for rafts you could support in Lychee > export to STL > add raft in Chitubox > slice/print. It's not ideal, but in the quest for quality presupported files we do what we must!

I find the magic button can be useful if you turn off the orientation, supports and raft options and just let it optimise and brace the supports you have manually placed (or are in a pre-supported model).

If its good enough for you, its good enough for me! Thing that struck me immediately was the ability to update the 3D model without having to re-do all the supports. This option ALONE is worth the subscription compared to shitubox

The only thing I hate so far is the learning curve is sooo incredibly steep, and some of the tasks that are easy in chitu are overtly complicated. Took me an hour to figure out fan supports. No reason that I should have to place a mini support adjust the base and then duplicate

I actually haven't played around too much with Lychee's FDM settings beyond a couple of prints! To be honest I found it a little underwhelming, and it didn't win me over from Cura slicer.

Has anyone ever had an error that prevents you from hollowing a model after rotating or transforming it or loading from a saved slicer scene? This barely started happening to me. I hit the update button and the model remains solid.

@@OnceinaSixSide Do you use chitubox? Which software do you think will give better quality when 3D printing?
@OnceinaSixSide
@OnceinaSixSide 2 жыл бұрын
@@congmanhle6597 I used Chitubox exclusively for 2 years, it was great for its time but there's too many problems and missing features that for supports I've found Lychee to be better. As for slicing though I prefer Chitubox still just because it remembers my anti aliasing settings but I haven't noticed any difference in quality.

Know your pain (dont know how long is was working on my first hollow job because I wanted to export in chitubox and the holes where not there...). Once u figured out the uniques it is a rly powerfull tool. I use a lot of autosupports since I support a lot of unimportant one shot prints. Lychee auto support +island detection+ a few handpicked might be a bit over supported but did not fail me yet and done fast.

Absolutely. The way things work in Lychee is just different in a lot of cases, so it takes a bit of research and perseverance to get up to speed with it.

To anybody who want to change their Tip setting to be like in the video. Diameter, Tip Diameter and Tip Length are switched around because of updates. It took me several minutes to realize why the slicer did not let me set some of the numbers.
